ARMSTRONG AT COLONIAL HEIGHTS

The Colonial Heights Colonials football team returns home tonight when the Armstrong Wildcats visit Colonial Heights. It looks like it is going to be a pretty nice night for football with temps in the mid 70's at game time. The Crawford County Eagles will be try to stay undefeated tonight when the play host to the Lamar County Trojans in Roberta. In JV football action last night Crawford County fell to Mary Pearson 14-8, Scott said Scottie played center most of the game and Dusty played offense and defense all game and was the kicker also, I am sure Scott taught him how to kick the ball. Down at the beach tonight Cape Hatteras will be at First Flight & Williamston will be at Manteo. The Nascar Nextel Cup Series will be at Dover for race 2 in the chase for the Nextel Cup. I did go the Colonial Heights vs Thomas Dale volleyball game last night and I hate to report that the bad guys won the match 3-0. My AIP in on the rise again this morning if you can believe it, I think I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder taking my sweatshirt after running yesterday afternoon. MICKEY

I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.

1784 - America’s first daily paper, The Pennsylvania Packet and Daily Advertiser, was published in Philadelphia.
1948 - The Texaco Star Theater on NBC-TV chose this night to make one of its oft-appearing hosts the permanent host. Milton Berle stayed on as the regular host until 1967. He was so much a part of The Texaco Star Theater that it became known as The Milton Berle Show.
1957 - Famed trial lawyer Perry Mason came to TV. The creation of attorney/novelist Erle Stanley Gardner, Perry Mason found fame first as a series of novels, then as a CBS radio series (1943-1955). TV’s Perry Mason, which continued for 9 seasons (TV’s longest-running lawyer series) on CBS, starred Raymond Burr in the lead role. Della Street was played by Barbara Hale.
1970 - ABC-TV debuted Monday Night Football, with Howard Cosell, ‘Dandy’ Don Meredith and Keith Jackson. (Frank Gifford replaced Jackson the following year.)
1989 - Hugo is a nice enough sounding name -- unless you put a hurricane behind it. Hurricane Hugo tore into Charleston, South Carolina this day, leaving a trail of destruction calculated at over eight billion dollars.
