HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLENN

Today is fellow blogger Glenn's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLENN. I don't know how old he is but I think there are some fellow bloggers who can fill us in on that. I went to the Colonial Heights football scrimmage last night & the Colonials had a pretty tough time, the Colonials open up there regular season next Friday night against Thomas Jefferson. I talked to Scott last night & when I talked to him Crawford County was winning it's scrimmage against Monticello by 2 touchdowns, maybe Scott can give us an update from Georgia. Petersburg opened there football season last night with a 24-13 loss against the Halifax County Comets. It was also a tough night for both Dare County teams that where in action last night, Camden beat First Flight 29-0 & Manteo fell to Northeastern 25-14. Next week Manteo will be playing at First Flight. Most all college football teams will be in action 1 week from today, I am ready for some college football. Kasey Kahne won last night Busch race at Bristol & will be on the pole for tonight Nextel Cup race as well, Juan Pablo Montoya will join him on the front row. It's going to be very hot again here in CH today, it suppose to get to 99 with a heat index of between 105-110. I guess I should run early if i am going to run outside. MICKEY

Winnie the Pooh

1840 - Joseph Gibbons of Albion, Michigan received a notice from the U.S. Patent office. Joseph had patented the seeding machine.
1916 - The U.S. National Park Service was created. If you see a park ranger, give ’em a pat on the back today. They deserve it.
1946 - Ben Hogan won his first major golf title. He captured the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) championship at Portland, OR.
1968 - Outfielder Rocky Colavito of the New York Yankees did the unusual. He pitched 2-1/2 innings to help out in a pitching jam. He earned the win by beating Detroit 6-5. "What’s so unusual about that?" you ask. Remember, we said Rocky was an outfielder.

TO MUCH CAFFEINE
Though moderate caffeine intake isn't likely to cause harm, too much can noticeably affect your health. Heavy daily caffeine use — more than 500 to 600 mg a day, or about four to seven cups of coffee — can cause:
  • Restlessness
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tremors
  • Sleeplessness
  • Headaches
  • Nausea, diarrhea or other gastrointestinal problems
  • Abnormal heart rhythms

the eagles were ahead 21-0 with :55 seconds left in the first half. then the clouds erupted into a pretty nasty little thunder boomer. the game was later called off. glad it was only a scrimmage.
