WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN AFFECT, GADES WIN AGIAN

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Colonial Heights until 4pm today, we could receive up to 1 inch of snow before it turns to all rain later today. The temp is not expected to get out of the 30's today so try to stay warm. The Richmond Renegades won there 5th straight game last night defeating the Twin City Cyclones 1-0 at the RC, it was a very ho hum game for the most, not a whole lot of anything going on but a win is a win. The Virginia basketball team fell to Virginia Tech last night at the JPJ Arena 70-69 in OT, the Cavs are really struggling right now and it looks like it is going to be a very long season for the Cavs. The CH girls basketball team will be at home tonight against Matoaca and that is weather permitting, if either schoolclose later today there will be no game tonight. My AIP index might be elevated tomorrow if we get to much snow today. MICKEY

If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges.

It’s cold outside.” Jake: “Okay. The window’s closed. Now it’s warm outside?” Molly Goldberg was played by Gertrude Berg, who won an Emmy for her performance in 1950.

1991 - Operation Desert Storm began. The U.S. and its United Nations allies went to war to drive Saddam Hussein’s army out of Iraqi-occupied Kuwait. U.S. General Norman Schwarzkopf gave the go-ahead for bombing raids on Baghdad, followed a few weeks later by assaults with ground troops on Iraqi troops in southern Iraq and Kuwait. During the following six weeks Iraq fired its Scud missles at U.S. bases in Saudi Arabia and at the general population in Israel, but was routed soundly. Iraqi troops left Kuwait, retreating all the way to Baghdad and, in many cases, surrendering in the field.
1995 - The Golf Channel began on some U.S. cable systems. Four years later, the world’s first 24-hour golf network was seen in over 30,000,000 homes.

Health and Diet Tip
The USDA’s 5- A-Day initiative aims to get Americans to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. There are plenty of ways to do this. Pile veggies like cucumber slices, sprouts or carrot shavings on your sandwich. Enjoy fruit for breakfast. Add a banana to your cereal. Berries contain the most fiber and least calories of all fruit; have a handful. Broil half a grapefruit topped with cinnamon.
