ANOTHER WARM DAY, TGIF

Well we are going to have another warm but rainy day here in Colonial Heights. It is suppose to get up into the upper 60's to low 70's and there is a pretty good chance of rain as well. Enjoy today because it looks like it is going to be in the 40's all of next week. The CH girls basketball team had a pretty rough outing last night falling to Meadowbrook 76-28, tonight the boys team will play at Meadowbrook. The NFL playoffs will resume on Saturday with the Seattle Seahawks visting Green Bay to play the Packers in the 1st game followed by Jacksonville visiting New England. In Green Bay tomorrow it looks like there be a chance of light snow and the temps will be a balmy 30 at game time. The Richmond Renegades are off tonight and will back at home Saturday night against the Knoxville Ice Bears. This week sure has flown by, it just doesn't feel like it Friday already but I am not complaining. MICKEY

You can never plan the future by the past.
Edmund Burke

1878 - For the first time, milk was delivered in glass bottles -- by one Alexander Campbell, in New York. Up to that time, moo juice had been ladled out of a container by the milkman, right into the customer’s own container.
1902 - Popular Mechanics magazine was published for the first time. Initially, there were only five paying subscribers and a few hundred others who paid a nickel at newsstands. In September, 1903, the magazine became a monthly.
1913 - The first sedan-type car was unveiled at the National Automobile Show in New York City. The car was manufactured by the Hudson Motor Company.
1935 - Amelia Earhart Putnam became the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California. She had also been the first woman to solo across the Atlantic three years earlier.
1947 - Baseball great Honus Wagner signed his 36th professional contract by agreeing to coach the Pittsburgh Pirates. His claim to the Baseball Hall of Fame was a .329 21-year career batting average. He also wore the title of ‘The Flying Dutchman’, earned by stealing bases.
1964 - Surgeon General Luther Terry released a report that said that (cough) smoking cig (cough, cough) arettes is a (cough) definite health hazard.
1964 - The head football coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, the popular Bud Wilkinson, resigned from the University of Oklahoma.
1996 - Congressman Sonny Bono needed eleven stitches to close a gash in his chin after colliding with another skier near Big Bear Lake, California. An omen?

Health and Diet Tip
Your weight is just a number on the scale. Since muscle is denser tissue than fat, you may weigh more than the average person. But you also may be fitter and healthier than someone who’s the same height, but weighs less. Your healthy weight is the weight at which you feel good, have plenty of energy, and don’t have any obesity-related illnesses including hypertension, type 2 diabetes and arthritis.

Fitness Tip
Forget laughter, exercise is the best medicine. In a survey of more than 46,000 people, exercise scored better than other remedies for allergies, depression, high cholesterol, insomnia and respiratory infections. Participants also favored exercise over alternative therapies such as herbs and acupuncture.
