I WENT BACK TO THE DR. YESTERDAY

Well I went back to the Dr. yesterday and he did prescribe me some Allopurinol which is a gout preventive medicine. The bad news is I can't start taking for about two weeks because you have to wait two weeks after you last acute attack, if not it can make the gout worst. He also precribed me some more colchicine to get rid of some more of the excess uric acid. After I went back to the Dr. yesterday afternoon my for started hurting pretty bad last night but this morning it is hardly hurting at all. Also from visiting the Dr's if I don't have the flu or a cold by the end of the week I missed a good chance, there were allot of people in there coughing all over the place. The UVA basketball team will be back in action tonight at Florida State, the Cavs sure need to win this one over a 1-3 in the ACC FSU. The Colonial Heights girls and boys basketball teams are off until Friday night because they are taking exams this week. It appears that the weather next week will be much milder than this week, by the middle of next week the high temps should be approaching 60 degrees again which is ok with me. MICKEY

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.

Cartenoids need fat to be utilized by the body. Therefore, next time you have a salad, skip the fat-free dressing and pour some canola oil on your mixed greens instead.

January 23
1789 - Georgetown College was established as the first Catholic college in the United States. The school is in Washington, DC.
1943 - Duke Ellington and the band played for a black-tie crowd at Carnegie Hall in New York City. It was the first of what was to become an annual series of concerts featuring the the Duke.
1964 - The Milwaukee Braves’ legendary pitcher, Warren Spahn, signed a contract worth $85,000, making him the highest paid pitcher in baseball.
1971 - It was a cold day in Prospect Creek Camp, Alaska. The lowest temperature ever recorded in the U.S. was reported as the mercury fell to a minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Our teeth chatter and the car battery dies at the mere thought of it...
1975 - Barney Miller made his debut on ABC-TV. We saw life in the 12th Precinct as Hal Linden starred as Barney and Abe Vagoda played Fish. The talented cast made the show a hit for eight seasons. There are 170 episodes in the series; making it one of television’s most durable comedies.
1983 - One of television’s most intellectual, sophisticated and classy shows came into American homes. It was full of action and drama and starred some guy named Mr. T, wearing a ton of gold jewelry. He played the not so mild-mannered Sgt. Bosco B.A. Baracus, and George Peppard took the lead role as John Hannibal Smith. Yes, The A-Team debuted. Speak kindly of the show or Mr. T. will rip your face off, sucka!

The trap of anger
Your anger hurts you much more than it affects anyone else. When your energy and awareness are tightly wrapped around anger, you're not much good for anything else.

There are many things beyond your control that can be perfectly legitimate reasons for anger. Yet the amount of time you maintain that anger is completely up to you.

The more quickly you move on, the better off you'll be. When you feel the first sensation of anger, let that be a reminder to let it go.

Anger can be useful in calling your attention to matters that require your response. But anger itself is not an effective response.

Take a slow, deep breath and remind yourself of how much more effective you can be by maintaining a positive, results-oriented approach. Decide, in a cool, calm and thoughtful manner, exactly what response would be the most powerful and valuable, and then make it happen.

Don't let the foolish, thoughtless, destructive actions of others catch you in a trap of anger. Take note of the anger, let it go, put your focus on being your best, and you'll surely emerge as a winner.
