EAST CAROLINA & GEORGIA WIN, VIRGINIA MAY NOT WIN ANOTHER GAME THIS YEAR

It cam right down to the end of the game but the East Carolina Pirates rallied for 28-24 win at Tulane to improve to 3-0 on the season, as they say it is better to win ugly than to lose. Next week the Pirates will travel to Raleigh to play N.C. State and that game will be on ESPN at noon. The Georgia Bulldogs held off a very pesky South Carolina Gamecocks squad and picked up a 14-7 victory, next week the Bulldogs will travel to Arizona State. Speaking of games that were ugly, the UVA games sure was that. UCONN dominated every aspect of the game against UVA last night, they scored at will on the Cavaliers and the UVA offense struggled to say the least. After watching that game last night I don't think there is a team left of the schedule that UVA can beat, the Cavaliers are off next week and they sure have some things they can work on. In the NFL today the Packers will be at Detroit while the Redskins will be at home to face the Saints, I think the Packers will win but I think the Skins are going to have a tough time. In high school football action yesterday Petersburg improved to 3-0 with a 46-0 win over Booker T. Washington. The 1st race in the chase today at New Hampshire, all the drivers in chase will be looking to stay out of trouble today. In fall baseball action yesterday we split with Dinwiddie on a very hot and humid day here in Virginia and its not going to get any better today with a high of 97 expected. There is some light at the end of the tunnel though by Tuesday it should be back in the 70's for the rest of the week. I will update the college football pick em as soon as possible. MICKEY

Virginia is an embarassment. After 8 years of Al Groh ,it should be such that recruitment each year should at least allow respectability.in addition, some players conduct reflects evidently the chacter of the coach and the standards he adhres too.He should have sat lalich last week . VA might competesucefuly in the league with U of r but that is questionble
