EAST CAROLINA FALLS, GEORGIA SURVIVES

The East Carolina Pirates gave valiant effort against the West Virginia Mountaineers but it just wasn't enough as the Mountaineers defeated the Pirates 27-10. The Pirate defense played well all day but the offense just couldn't get on track, the offense did have several chances to put more points on the board but just weren't able to execute correctly. It was a pretty wild atmosphere in the stadium with all the Mountaineer fans who were there. The Pirates are off next week before UVA comes town on October 7. The Georgia Bulldogs survived a scare yesterday at the hands of the Colorado Buffaloes, the Bulldogs were trailing 13-0 with seven minutes remaining in the game before they scored got two TD's and held on for a 14-13 win, good teams find a way to win. There were a couple of big comebacks yesterday as well, NC Sate beat Boston College in the last minute of the game 17-15 and Notre Dame scored 19 points in the 4th quarter erasing a 16 point deficit entering the final quarter to beat Michigan St 40-37. Also don't look now but Wake Forest is now 4-0 and the play Liberty this week so there is a pretty good chance that they will be 5-0 entering there showdown with Clemson. Today in the NFL both the Packers and the Redskins will be trying to win there first game of the season, the Packers play the Lions and the Redskins play the Texans. Clint Boyer won yesterday's Busch race at Dover, today Jeff Gordon will lead the field to the green in today's Nextel Cup race at Dover. There is member of the blog with a birthday Monday, stay tuned to see who it is. MICKEY
