HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well I hope everybody has a HAPPY HALLOWEEN today and doesn't eat to much of the leftover candy. It appears that the weather will be very good for all the little trick or treaters tonight. Well I have purchased a new phone and it should be here by the end of the week, I purchased it online from Cingular and it is a LG flip phone. I did have to buy a new plan for the phone, I checked a few wireless providers and they were all pretty much the same price so I decided to stay with Cingular. I thought I would give everybody an injury update, the only thing that is bothering me now is my left ankle and I think I have softball elbow in my right elbow, it's just very sore. All my other aches and pains have gone away for the time being. In case anybody missed it last night the Patriots beat the Vikings 31-7. MICKEY

IT LOOKS LIKE THAT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO GET A NEW PHONE

Well the fine folks at Cingular sent me a letter on Saturday telling me that my current phone will not work on there network as of February or March of next year forcing me to buy phone. I have had this phone for about 13 or 14 years and it works fine for me, it is a little bigger than the phones today and it doesn't have to many features but it's fine for me. My biggest problem that I have is picking out a new phone, there are just to many choices. Also against my better judgment it looks like that my new phone will have voice mail and some other features that I don't need. I will probably get my new phone sometime this week and with a new phone I have to purchase a new phone plan and that's going cost me about an xtra $10 a month which I don't like, I think the they are running a racket down there. The GB Packers won again yesterday 31-14 and now have more wins than the Steelers and the Redskins, who would have though that, not me. APPOMATTOX INSURANCE WINS ON DIVISION, FALL AGAINST UPPER DIVISION

The AI softball team won it's own division last night over Van Dyke Landscaping, we did lose the first game against them 18-15 but came back in the deciding and beat them 15-13. After winning our division we got to play the winner of the upper division and we lost to a team called C and C Softball 18-13, we just simply ran out of steam, we were all just tired. We started playing last night at 6:30pm and didn't get home until after 11pm, we looked like a walking MASH unit by the end of the night. We had allot of people with some sore bodies, I have two sore ankles, two sore hamstrings, one sore elbow and one sore big toe. It is a good thing we don't have to play again tonight because I don't know how many players that we would have. Anyway we had a good season. In the World Series last night the Cardinals beat the Tigers 5-4 and now lead the series 3-1, the can win tonight in Detroit. In high school football tonight CH will travel to Hopewell, Petersburg will be at Thomas Dale and Dinwiddie will be at Matoaca. Down in Georgia Crawford County travels to Tri County, the Carwford County Middle School won it's playoff game the other day 26-22 and get to play one more game next week for the championship. Down at the beach First Flight travels Hertford and Manteo plays at Southside. All games tonight will be weather permitting, it looks like it is going to rain all day up the east coast. I told yall yesterday that I thought Virginia Tech would win last night, they did 24-7. The Nascar Nextel Cup Series will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, it's crunch time for the chase contenders. Also tonight the Richmond Renegades open up there season on the road in Fayetteville against the FireAntz, the Gades will return home saturday night against the Jacksonville Barracudas. This will be the 3rd different league Richmond has played in the last 6 years, the Gades are now members of the Southern Professional Hockey League(SPHL). Does anybosy know these twon Indians. A COMEBACK FOR THE AGES

On a night where it just appeared not to be for the Appomattox Insurance softball team and everything that could go wrong appeared to be going wrong the AI softball team came to life. Entering the bottom of the 6th inning down 11-2 and hearing allot of trash talking from the other team and only having 5 hits on the night the AI team put up 13 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and held on for a 15-14 victory over Oakley Tank Lines. This is the same team that thought the had us beat earlier in the year and were undefeated before we scored 10 runs on in one inning enroute to a double header sweep earlier in the year. Our season will end tonight win or lose the league will come to an end tonight, we play at 6:30pm again against the winner of the losers bracket final and they would have to beat us twice. The winner of our division will then play the winner from the other division for the fall city championship, the other division is much stronger division and have allot of players who play on different B and C teams, it could be tough for us but I think we could do pretty against them if we get the chance. Rain washed out game 4 of the World Series last night so they will play game 4 tonight and game 5 on Friday night, I can't believe it took them that long to call the game last night. There is a big game in the ACC tonight with Clemson visiting Virginia Tech, I don't know why but I think Virginia Tech is going to win tonight. I HAVE HAD A BUSY WEEKEND

Well did anybody recognize that I didn't have entry on Mickey's Place yesterday? I have had a very busy weekend and just didn't have time yesterday to post anything. My busy weekend started Friday night going to see the Colonials 15-0 Homecoming win over Prince George, I have added a link below with all the photos that Al took at the game. Speaking of the game Al got a little to close to the action on one of the tackles as one of the players helmet hit him on the knee as the play went out of bounds and yes he is day to day. My busy weekend continued yesterday morning when me and dad went down to the OBX to pick up mom's car from the beach. We left at bout 6:20am and got there just before 9:00am. After arriving at the beach we both got our exercise in and we went to eat lunch about 11:30am and then we were back on the road by 1:00pm heading back to Colonial Heights. After arriving back in CH I had to run one more time before we headed out for supper, we were heading to Nanny's so I figured that a had better run again if I was going to eat buffet at Nanny's. After eating supper I just relaxed the rest of the day watching some college football, some of the World Series and some NHL action. My busy weekend continues this morning as we will be heading to the Richmond Coliseum 11:30am to see the Renegades play a preseason game at 1:00pm, the Gades defeated the Fayetteville FireAntz last night 3-0 and will play them again today. In the World Series and think Detroit must have thought they were on break as they loss to the Cardinals 7-2, they will play game 2 today. In the NFL today Green Bay will be at Miami and Washington will be at Indianapolis. The Nextel Cup Series is at Martinsville today. MICKEY

A honey bee travels an estimated 43,000 miles to gather one pound of honey. A pound of honey consists of 29,184 drops.

A honeybee can fly at fifteen miles per hour.

A horse can sleep standing up.

A Horse has 18 more bones than a Human.

A human being loses an average of 40 to 100 strands of hair a day.

A human has a bone just after the spine ends, which helps proves that humans once had tails (possibly).

METS FORCE GAME 7

Well the New York Mets were in a must win situation last night and they came through with 4-2 victory over the Cardinals forcing tonight's game 7 in New York. I think the Mets will now go on any win the series and play Detroit in the World Series, the Cardinals were in the drivers seat but now I think they are going to be in the passenger seat. The Virginia Cavalier football team will be back in action tonight against North Carolina, if they don't win this game I don't think I will watch another UVA football game this season. The Cavaliers should have beaten Maryland last Saturday but had a monumental collapse. The Renegades continue to practice at the RC getting ready for this weekends preseason games, they have already cut 5 players and had 1 player walk out of camp, apparently he didn't like Brophy's coaching style. Don't forget that tomorrows football game is Homecoming when Colonial Heights play Prince George, I think Al will be there taking photos. I have posted a link below to some photos AL took at the mud bog at Virginia Motor Speedway. MICKEY

EAGLES WIN !!!!

the crawford county middle school eagles made a very impressive playoff debut today, defeating flint middle school of griffin ga. 36-0. the eagles were outsized but played a lot tougher and smarter than their opponents. scottie played most of the game on both sides of the ball. he recovered a fumble on the first possesion and had several very good tackles for losses. he also had to cover a receiver on one play, after he saw it was going to be a running play he broke off of coverage and made the tackle. up next for the eagles will be upson-lee middle school of thomaston georgia.

It is also homecoming week here in Colonial Heights this week with the highlight of the week being the homecoming football game against Prince George on Friday night. The Cardinals won game 5 last night 4-2 and now lead the series over the Mets 3-2 and they will play game 6 tonight in New York. The Tigers are at home resting for the eventual winner of the NL series. I do understand that two fellow bloggers made the trip to the OBX yesterday but are now back at home. APPOMATTOX INSURANCE WINS REGULAR SEASON TITLE

The Appomattox Insurance softball team picked up two more wins last night over The Hon Company 17-9 and 15-5 and by doing so won the regular season championship in the fall league. The AI team finished the regular season with a 13-1 record and will start the playoffs next Tuesday night against an unknown opponent at this time. In the game I did tweak my left ankle a bit, I hurt it in last weeks games. Also I due have a bit of a sore left bottom wisdom tooth and I think I have some type of itis in both elbows, I guess I will have to take some Advil today. The NL playoff game yesterday was washed out and they will try to play game 5 again today. In Monday night football action the Bears remained unbeaten beating the Cardinals 24-23, at one point in this game the Cardinals lead 23-3. The Richmond Renegades will have there first practice this morning at the Richmond Coliseum better known as the RC, the Gades will have a home preseason game this Sunday at 1pm at the RC. FINAL GAMES OF THE REGULAR SEASON

The Appomattox Insurance softball team will be playing it's final games of the regular season tonight against The Hon Company, gametime is 8:15pm on Lakeview field #2. The playoffs will start sometime next week. Speaking of playoffs the Mets evened up there series with the Cardinals at 2 games a piece with a 12-5 victory over the Cardinals. The Redskins lost a game they had to win yesterday falling to the Tennessee Titans 25-22, I think there chances of making the NFL playoffs this year are just about over. Here in CH you better enjoy today's nice weather because it looks like Tuesday will be a very wet day. Today I have decided to post an old photo of our dog Pepper laying the floor. MICKEY

VIRGINIA & GEORGIA LOSE GAMES THEY SHOULD HAVE WON, ECU ALSO FALLS

Well it was like BLACK SATURDAY for the college football teams that I root for yesterday. I go the UVA game and the Cavs are leading 20-0 at the half before the wheels fell off the bus in the 3rd quarter on a muffed punt and from there on out I new Virginia was in trouble. They did come back at the end of the game on a nice pass play but were unable to get the 2 point conversion thus falling to Maryland 28-26. Georgia had a similar fate yesterday falling to Vanderbilt 24-22, Georgia lead by 10 points before Vandy started to make the game very interesting on there way to an upset victory over Georgia. At ECU is sounded like the Pirates had a very tough time with Tulsa losing 31-10, the Tulsa defense held ECU in check most of the day. Today the Redskins will play the Titans and the Packers can't lose because they are not playing today. The Detroit Tigers completed a 4 game sweep of the A's yesterday beating the A's on there final at bat 6-3, the Tigers will represent the AL in the World Series. The Cardinals now have 2-1 lead in the NL series after beating the Mets 5-0, the Cards seem to have the momentum right now in that series. Kasey Kahne won last nights Nextel Cup race at the Lowe's Motor Speeway, Jeff Burton continues to lead the points race by 45 over Matt Kenseth and 89 over Kevin Harvick. Next Sunday the new Richmond Renegades will have the only home pre-season game at the RC at 1pm getting ready for the start of there season the following weekend. MICKEY
