EAST CAROLINA POUNDS VIRGINIA, GEORGIA FALLS

The East Carolina Pirates pounded the Virginia Cavaliers yesterday 31-21 in a game that the final score doesn't show how much ECU dominated UVA. Being at the game I can tell you the outcome was never in doubt and it looked like ECU moved the ball at will against the UVA defense and the UVA offense never got on track. The UVA offense has to get on track or they may not when another game this year, the defense is just on the field to long. There was a pretty good contingent of UVA fans at the game and sometime blogger John and his family were also there rooting the CAVS on, John said he was going to wear his GROH MUST GO shirt to the Maryland game next week. Also yesterday the Georgia bulldogs had a tough day falling to Tennessee 51-31, Georgia lead this game at the half 24-14 but gave up 37 points in the second half. The Georgia defense was only allowing 6.8 points a game before yesterday. Today in the NFL the Redskins play the New York Giants and it doesn't matter who the Packers are playing they are just bad. In MLB action yesterday the Tigers and Mets moved on to the second round of the playoffs, the Tigers will face the A's and the Mets will face the winner of the Cardinals and Padres series in which the Cards lead 2-1. The loss by the Yankees may have cost Joe Torre is job according AP reports this morning. Rookie David Gilliland is on the pole for today's Nextel Cup race at Talladega, he beat his teammate Dale Jarrett for the top spot, this might be highlight of the year for Robert Yates Racing having both of his cars on the front row. Today's race could go a long way in deciding who is going to win the Nextel Cup. The weather here in CH is still very dreary, after all the rain of the last few days there is a heavy mist falling this morning with the temp in the mid 50's. MICKEY
