VIRGINIA FALLS TO UCLA, MICKEY INJURED

The Virginia Cavalier baseball team fell to UCLA in the bottom of the 9th inning 3-2 on a throwing error. The Cavs will have to rebound very quickly today if they want to keep there season alive when they play Rider. In other games in the tournament Lipscomb College embarrassed Georgia 10-7, Alabama hammered East Carolina 16-3 and NC State beat James Madison 6-2. The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to even up the Stanley Cup Finals at 2 games a piece with a win tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, a loss I think will pretty much do the Penguins in. Greg Bifffle captured the pole for tomorrows Sprint Cup race at Dover beating out the Busch brothers for the top spot. I was injured yesterday afternoon when Brady saw a dog on tv and I tried to give him a ball so he could so he could shake his head at him but when I did he bit down on the ball and my finger. I have one small puncture wound on one my fingers on my left hand, it is very sore this morning and it bleed pretty good last night as well. Because of this injury my PAIN index has skyrocketed. I did make it down to Wal-Mart this morning for my weekly trip to the big box store and yes I did get some Wal-Mart donuts, they were ok but not the best donuts that I have ever bought there. Well I have to go to baseball practice. MICKEY

NCAA BASEBALL TOURNAMENT STARTS TODAY, IT'S GOING TO FEEL LIKE SUMMER THIS WEEKEND

The NCAA baseball tournament starts today across the country at 16 different sites. The Virginia baseball team plays UCLA tonight at 7pm on ESPNU. A few other games that I will be following has Georgia playing Lipscomb, East Carolina vs Alabama and James Madison vs NC State. In the Central Region baseball playoffs it will be Cosby vs James River in the finals, both teams are from the Dominion District and that district has won the AAA championship the past two years. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series is at Dover this weekend, Dover is a bit like Bristol there are not to many single car accidents there because of the high banking which makes it a self cleaning track. It's going to feel a bit like summer this weekend here in CH this weekend today it is going to be in the upper 80's and Saturday & Sunday as well and just think summer doesn't start until late June. This week has really flown by because it was a short work week which was fine with me. My PAIN index is on the rise a bit because my allergies have started to bother me again the last few days, hopefully the pollen will start to diminish the next few weeks. Have a nice weekend. MICKEY

PENGUINS WIN, THOMAS DALE FALLS

Well it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to try to make it a series again after last nights 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. It looked like to me the Penguins stepped up there physical play a bit last night which may have taken there Red Wings off there game and it didn't hurt that Sidney Crosby had two goals as well. They will play game 4 on Saturday night in Pittsburgh. The Thomas Dale Knights baseball season came to an end yesterday as Patrick Henry picked up a 13-5 win in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game, even though the TD lost yesterday they had a very good season winning 20 games. The CR baseball regionals continue tonight with James River playing Patrick and Mills Godwin playing Cosby, James River are the defending AAA state champs. After a pretty cool day yesterday its going to start feeling like summer again this weekend with highs in the mid to upper 80's after today high in the upper 70's. It's still hard to believe that this year school year is about over. MICKEY

THOMAS DALE GAME SUSPENDED BY BAD WAETHER, MUCH COOLER TODAY

The Thomas Dale baseball game was suspended last night in the bottom of the 5th inning with 1 on and 1 out with Patrick Henry leading 7-4 because of lightning and heavy rain. The game will be resumed tonight at 6pm at Thomas Dale if they can get the field ready, if not they will try to find another location to finish the game out. In the other game involving a CD baseball team Mills Godwin beat Matoaca 5-4, in the other two games in the Central Region Cosby & James River picked up wins. The Stanley Cup Finals resume tonight in Pittsburgh, maybe a change in scenery will do the Penguins good, they trail in the series 2-0. Well after yesterdays high temp of 88 today it is only suppose to be in the upper 60's, that's just a bit cool for this time of year. Where in the world is everybody at on vacation? MICKEY

JOKE OF THE DAY
Dogs and Light Bulbs
How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Border Collie: Just one. Then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Rottweiler: Make me!

Lab: Oh, me, me! Pleeease let me change the light bulb! Can I? Huh? Huh?

Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

Malamute: Let the Border Collie do it. You can feed me while he's busy.

Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls.

Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?

Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

Mastiff: Screw it yourself! I'm not afraid of the dark...

Doberman: While it's out, I'll just take a nap on the couch.

Boxer: Who needs light? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

Pointer: I see it, there it is, there it is, right there!

Chihuahua: Yo quiero Taco Bulb?

Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...

Old English Sheep dog: Light bulb? That thing I just ate was a light bulb?

Basset Hound: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Westie: Dogs do not change light bulbs -- people change light bulbs. I am not one of THEM so the question is, how long before I can expect my light again?

Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned-out bulb?

VIRGINIA HEADING OUT WEST, THOMAS DALE IN REGIONAL PLAYOFFS

The Virginia Cavalier baseball team will be heading out west this weekend in the NCAA baseball tournament when it plays UCLA on Friday in the Cal State Fullerton Regional and the will be #3 seed in this regional. The East Carolina Pirate baseball team will play Alabama on Friday in the Coastal Carolina Regional in Conway, SC near Myrtle Beach. The Thomas Dale baseball team will be at home today at 5pm against Patrick Henry in the Central Region baseball tournament, also Matoaca from the CD will be in action tonight at Mills Godwin. There is a chance of t-storms later today but maybe it will hold off until after todays games. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night Detroit beat Pittsburgh 3-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the series, somebody needs to tell Pittsburgh if they don't score they can't win, they have yet to score a goal in 1st 2 games of the series. Well after a nice 3 day weekend it's back to the grind today and my Pain index is a pretty low but I am sure it will rise some over the next few days. Also a quick note from the beach the First Flight High School girls soccer team won the North Carolina 2A state soccer championship on Saturday with a 2-1 win over East Bend Forbush, with the win the Nighthawks finished with a 22-2 record. Choose your priorities
Your priorities are not determined by what you say they are. Your most genuine priorities are expressed by what you actually do with your life and your time.

Look around you, and you'll see very clearly what your priorities have been up to this point. Those priorities have brought you to where you are right now.

If something is truly a priority for you, you absolutely are able to find a way to reach it. If it's not a priority, it's probably not going to happen for you.

You can set your priorities and you can change them at any time to be whatever you choose. But merely wishing for something does not make it a priority.

The priorities that are really priorities are the ones that dictate where you focus your awareness. The priorities that truly matter are the ones in which you invest your interest, your attention and, most importantly, your action.

You can follow whatever priorities you choose, and in every moment you are constantly choosing. Remember, as you go through each day, to choose those priorities that will bring the special joy and fulfillment that is yours to live.

MEMORIAL DAY 2008

Memorial Day by Michelle Keim

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

VIRGINIA FALLS IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, KAHNE WINS NASCA RACE

The Virginia Cavalier baseball team fell in the championship game of the ACC tourney yesterday to Miami 8-4. The Cavaliers fell behind 7-0 early in the game and just were not able to recover. The Cavaliers will find out today where they will be playing in this years NCAA baseball tournament which start this coming weekend. The Thomas Dale Knights will play in the Central Region baseball tournament Tuesday at 5pm at home against Patrick Henry. Kasey Kahne won last night race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway holding off Tony Stewart for the win, Kyle Busch continues to lead the point standings by 94 points over Jeff Burton. Scott Dixon won yesterday Indianapolis 500, I think they had more wrecks in the 500 than they did in the 600. They will play game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight in Detroit, the Red Wings lead the series over the Penguins 1-0. Well Al & Donna made it back from Iowa yesterday and today they are heading to West Virginia to take Jacob back at home, just thinking about there week is making me tired. I will be heading back from the beach later today, probably just before lunch. We went to The Dunes for lunch yesterday for there lunch buffet and I have to say it was pretty good, especially the fried chicken. HAVE A SAFE MEMORIAL DAY. MICKEY

VIRGINIA TO PLAY MIAMI TODAY IN ACC CHAMPIONSHIP

The Virginia Cavalier baseball team will play Miami today at 1pm for the ACC baseball championship, Miami enters the game 3-0 in the tourney while Virginia enters the game at 2-1. The Cavs lost to Wake Forest last night 7-4 in game which they didn't hit the ball to well, the Cavs will have to play much better against Miami today. In the Stanley Cup Finals last night Detroit beat Pittsburgh 4-0 to take game 1 of the series, the Pens looked over matched in game 1 but it's only 1 game and you have win 4 to win the Stanley Cup. Kyle Busch continued his good season last night winning the Busch race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway, I would have to say that he has to be the favorite for tonights 6oo miler. I don't know about the rest of you but I am becoming less of a fan of Denny Hamlin for his antics on the track, it appears than no one can race him hard with out ruffling his feathers, he doesn't want anybody on the track to close to him. Al & Donna should be heading back from Iowa today. I had a pretty busy day down at the beach yesterday and I have say it was a pretty cool day down here yesterday. We went over to The Tale of The Whale for supper last night and I have to say it was pretty good, I got the steak and ribs combo and it was pretty good. That was the 1st time I had been in there since high school. Well I have a busy day ahead of me so I will talk to all you fellow bloggers on Monday. MICKEY

VIRGINIA UPSETS FLORIDA STATE, IT'S CLOUDY AT THE BEACH

For the 2nd day in a row the UVA baseball team knocked off a team in the top 5 in the country this time it was the Florida State Seminoles 5-3. With the win the Cavaliers clinch a spot in tomorrows championship regardless of what they do later today against Wake Forest. The Cavs are scheduled to play Wake Forest tonight at 8pm but the games are usually about an hour late getting started. They will play game 1 tonight in the Stanley Cup Finals between Pittsburgh and Detroit in Detroit, I guess I will be rooting for the lesser of the too evils Pittsburgh. Well it is a bit cloudy at the beach this morning and there is a pretty good chance of rain here this morning and it is pretty cool as well, at 7am the temp is 60 but it is only suppose to get 67 today and thats cold for the beach. But as they say a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at home. Tomorrow will be the biggest race day of the year in the U.S. with the running of the Indianapolis 500 in the morning and World 600 in the evening at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. I don't think there will be to many people viewing the blog today because allot of fellow bloggers are out of town for numerous reasons. Well i have to get ready to run. MICKEY
