COLONIALS PICK UP A MUCH NEEDED VICTORY

After losing three straight games the Colonials picked up a much needed 10-2 win over visiting Hopewell last night at Shepherd Stadium. Casey Barnes went the distance on the mound for the Colonials striking out 5 and just allowing 6 hits and he also helped himself at the plate going 2-2. Offensively the Colonials were lead by J.D. McCarty who went 2-4 with a HR and 4 RBI's. Next up for the Colonials is a visit to 1st place Thomas Dale on Tuesday afternoon. The Thomas Dale Knights beat Dinwiddie last night 10-5 to remain 1 game ahead of Matoaca for the tops spot in the CD. The CH softball team beat Hopewell 9-6 and the CH boys soccer team beat Hopewell 2-1, there was no score from the girls soccer game in the paper. The New York Rangers stayed alive in the NHL playoffs last night beating the Penguins 3-0, the Rangers still trail in the best of 7 series 3-1 and they won't play game 5 until Sunday. The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series are both in Richmond this weekend, Al will be taking photos at both events. My PAIN index is much lower today because it is Friday and since we picked up another win yesterday. It is going to feel like summer the next few days here in CH with highs in the low to mid 80's. Health Tip: Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
No one knows precisely why people get cancer, and there's no surefire cure.
But if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can help reduce your risk. Here are some suggestions, courtesy of AARP:

* Eat a healthy diet, including plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Limit intake of red meat, saturated fats, smoked and salt-cured foods, and foods preserved with nitrates.
* Get regular exercise of 30 minutes or more at least five days a week.
* Maintain a healthy body weight.
* If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation.
* Wear sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sun during the midday hours.
* Get screened for cancers for which you may be most susceptible.

What do you expect?
You don't have to look very far to find a reason to feel sorry for yourself. But why would you want to waste even a few moments of your precious life on self pity?

It's easy to come up with perfectly reasonable excuses for lowering your expectations and hiding away from life. But then all you're left with are worthless excuses.

There are certain circumstances under which some people see themselves as victims. Yet under those exact same circumstances other people find and make the most of truly grand opportunities.

When you expect life to be cruel and harsh, it will live up to your expectations. When, on the other hand, you consider yourself to be extremely fortunate, you will become even more so.

There is great value in every moment. Positive possibilities are generated by every turn and twist of fate.

No matter what may happen or fail to happen, life is what you choose to make it. Choose again and again, in every situation, to make it great.

I know Al will get some good pictures at the race but I miss the baseball pictures.

The girl's soccer team beat Hopewell, I thing the final score was five to one. Julieann played a good game, as always.
