RENEGADES WIN IN A SHOOTOUT, UVA BASEBALL TEAM SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER




The Richmond Renegades ended there losing streak last night in Huntsville beating the Havoc in shootout 3-2, the Gades rallied from a 2-0 deficit to pick up a much needed win. The Gades will be back at home this Friday & Saturday nights. The Virginia Cavalier baseball started the season off right yesterday sweeping a doubleheader from Lehigh 4-1 & 5-1, the Cavs will play another doubleheader against Lehigh today. The VSU Trojans lost a doubleheader to Indiana(PA) yesterday and will play them in another DH today. The UVA basketball team will also be at home today against the NC State Wolfpack, this another good opportunity for the Cavs to pick up another ACC win. The VCU Rams picked up another win yesterday beating the Akron Zips 57-52 in Akron, the Rams next game will be on Wednesday against UNC Wilmington. The two top series in Nascar will run a rare doubleheader today at the California Speedway since the Nationwide Series race was rained out last night, they will run the Sprint Cup Series race 1st to be followed by the Nationwide race. My PAIN index is a little higher this morning because I didn't sleep very well at all last night. MICKEY

1969 - Johnny Cash recorded his second live prison performance. It followed a concert the previous year at Folsom Prison. The LP Johnny Cash at San Quentin, with the hit single A Boy Named Sue, was recorded live as part of a British TV.
1980 - The U.S. Hockey Team won its “Do you believe in miracles?” gold medal. Final score: U.S. 4, Finland 2. The drama had begun with the U.S. team’s upset win over the powerful Soviet team on February 22. When the U.S. polished off Finland for the gold medal, folks all over the U.S. decided to start believing, indeed!
1987 - From the Hit Me With Your Best Shot Department: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the Los Angeles Lakers got his first three-point shot. The leading scorer in NBA history had reached 36,000 points as of this day. But, up to this point, Kareem had never scored more than two at a time.
1991 - Country music star Webb Pierce died in Nashville at age 65. The official cause of death was heart failure, but he also suffered from pancreatic cancer. Pierce racked up 13 #1 singles on the Billboard country chart, with 97 singles on the chart between 1952 and 1982.
