IF IT'S A MUSCLE IT'S HURTING, UNCW AT VCU

Well after throwing another 400 pitches or so yesterday I think every muscle on the right side of my body is hurting. It sure didn't look like we were going to be able to get practice in yesterday because of the weather but the 90% chance of rain just didn't materialize. I have to say that I am doubtful today to be able to throw at all. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team was rained out against Coppin State yesterday and they now play them on Thursday, however the Cavaliers will play Old Dominion at home today, the Monarchs knocked off #2 North Carolina yesterday. The VCU basketball team will have it's final home game of the season tonight when UNC Wilmington visits the Rams, the CAA tournament starts next week at the Richmond Coliseum. The weather is going to be a bit cold today for practice with highs in the 40's and a 20mph wind which will make it feel much colder and tomorrow the high is only going to be in the low 40's but with light winds. It sure doesn't feel like baseball weather. MICKEY

All of us have bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck -- who keeps right on going -- is the man who is there when the good luck comes -- and is ready to receive it.

HEALTH TIP: Prevent Runner's Knee
Symptoms of runner's knee typically include pain in and around the kneecap, particularly when running, squatting, kneeling or walking up or down stairs.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons offers these suggestions to help prevent runner's knee:

* Take time to get your body in good condition before performing activities that stress the knees.
* Try to lose weight. Being overweight puts additional stress on the knees.
* Always warm up and stretch your legs before you exercise. Remember to stretch after your workout, as well.
* Increase activity gradually. Trying to do too much before your body is conditioned for it can cause injury.
* Wear supportive running shoes that absorb shock well. Try to run on somewhat softer surfaces.
* Practice good form when running, leaning slightly forward and keeping your knees bent.

Beauty and goodness
Think of the most beautiful thing you've ever witnessed, and multiply it by a thousand. What you then have is only a small, barely detectable fraction of the magnificent creation that is life.

What if you could experience the full beauty and goodness of life in one instant? You would surely and uncontrollably weep with tears of pure joy at the realization.

And there is something you would know, without the slightest doubt. That no problem, no challenge, no difficulty, no pain can ever really diminish the wonder and grandeur that is life.

There is a truth you would understand, in a way surpassing all thoughts and words, and it is this. Although the difficulties are very real, they are also very small when compared to the positive possibilities.

It pays to continually put things in perspective. For the more ground your perspective encompasses, the more valuable opportunities you'll have to live with genuine richness.

Choose as your perspective the wondrous and ever-expanding beauty of life. Within that golden territory, you'll find all the goodness and value you could ever desire.
