The Virginia Cavalier baseball team beat Clemson 3-0 on Saturday in another close ACC game at Clemson and with UNC's loss to Florida State 5-4 the Cavaliers are now back in first place in the Coastal Division of the ACC. It appears that Florida State is the class of the field in the ACC though they only have 2 conference losses and the next closest team to them is UVA with six losses. The Cavaliers will go for the sweep of Clemson this afternoon. The Virginia State Trojans defeated the Shaw Bears 14-7 to win the CIAA baseball championship and by doing so will move on to the NCAA Division II baseball playoffs next month. Andrew Holt was named the the tournaments MVP hitting .580 and driving in 10 runs in the tournament and both he and Jeff Shelton were named to the all tournament team. VSU does have a few more regular season games to play before they go to the Div II playoffs. Andrew's LL team picked up a 5-3 victory over the Cubs yesterday, I did see some of this game before heading over to VSU. Andrew's team will be back in action MOnday night at 6pm against the Braves at Ironbridge. Jeff Gordon won last night Nextel Cup race at Phoenix and by doing so tied Dale Earnhardt on the all time win list at 76, next week the will race at the always exciting Talladega Speedway. My AIP index has been elevated today because my back is very sore from standing so much at Andrew's LL game and at the VSU game. MICKEY
