GADES WIN A SPIRITED AFFAIR

The Richmond Renegades won a very spirited affair last night at the RC knocking off the Huntsville Havoc 3-2 and with the win the Gades are now tied for first with Huntsville. There were 4 fights in the game and there were some pretty good hits as well and fellow blogger Mark mad his first appearance of the year. The Gades next game will be a home game against Knoxville Wednesday night. The Virginia Cavaliers will be back in action today at 1pm when they visit Clemson to play the Tigers, the Cavaliers will be going for there 2nd straight road victory against a very good Clemson team. I have posted the basketball photos that Al took Friday night below of the CHHS vs Petersburg game. There hasn't been a whole lot of sleeping around our house the last couple of nights, both Leeza and Brady are a bit under the weather but they do look like they are feeling a little better today. I bought some silicon for my treadmill yesterday and it appears to have helped some, it didn't throw me around no wear near as much after I put it on. MICKEY

Magic beans
Beans can help reduce cancer risks -- but you may want to give them a good rinse before cooking. Canned beans have a lot of excess sodium; a little running water will wash it, and that "canned" taste, away. Otherwise, beans, lentils, peas and other legumes are as healthy as tasty food gets. Legumes are full of protease inhibitors, which may protect against several cancers by helping your body repair genetic material, curb out-of-control cell division and inhibit tumors by impairing their enzymes. They're also high in fiber, low in fat, rich in B vitamins (including folate), and contain potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc and trace elements.

1878 - The first telephone switchboard was installed -- in New Haven, Connecticut. The phone company that owned the switchboard had 21 subscribers. “Is this the party to whom I am speaking? One moment pa-leeeeeeze.”
1921 - The National Football League franchise in Decatur, Illinois was transferred this day to Chicago. The team took the name, Chicago Staleys for the 1921 season. The following year, it was decided that since the team was playing in the stadium of the Chicago Cubs, it should be named the Chicago Bears, or as they say in the Windy City, “Da Bears.”
1957 - The Brooklyn Dodgers (‘da Bums’) announced this day that circus clown Emmett Kelly had been hired to entertain fans at baseball games. The Dodgers moved to Los Angeles the following year.
