PACKERS FALL, REDSKINS HOLD ON

The Green Bay Packers fell to the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday 31-24 yesterday in Green Bay, with loss the Packers are now 1 game behind Brett Favre and his Minnesota Vikings. The Packers will travel to St. Louis next weekend. The Redskins improved to 1-1 on the season with a 9-7 win over the Rams, what an offensive shootout. The Redskins will be at Detroit next weekend. Mark Martin won yesterdays race at New Hampshire holding off Juan Pablo Montoya for the win, Martin now leads Mark Martin by 35 points in the standings. It is almost cold outside here in Colonial Heights this morning, it is 51 degrees but he low temps should moderate as the week goes on. We could use a little rain here in CH though. Me Ma Ruth is still in the hospital at SRMC, they are going to do a procedure on here today, hopefully she will be able to come home soon. MICKEY

Maintain Your Sense of Humor
If you’re able to laugh at life’s frustrations, you can have increased immunity, if you will, to stress and adversity. Those with a sense of humor about life tend to experience life as less stressful, are able to bond with others during difficult times, and experience the numerous benefits of laughter. If you can take a step back from difficult situations long enough to maintain your sense of humor, you will be more resilient, too.

Exercise
Exercise releases dopamine and endorphins which calm and soothe. However, I have found that different kinds of exercise work differently for everyone. Some people do best with high energy cardio workouts. The extra endorphins and the fatigue which results is very calming for them. Others are only agitated more by high energy workouts and find it increases their anxiety. Calming workouts like yoga, tai chi or qi gong work better for them. Some people like to workout best in the air conditioning, while others don’t like to be around other people and/or prefer fresh air and sunshine. Experiment with them all and see which works best for you. Whatever you choose, it should be enjoyable and pleasant and should calm you in the long run.
