THOMAS DALE KNOCKS OF THE COLONIALS 13-8

The Colonials baseball team cam out swinging yesterday jumping out to 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning yesterday at Thomas Dale only to have the Knights score 5 in the bottom of the 1st inning. There were a couple of highlights for the Colonials yesterday offensively, Derek Mears 2-3 with HR 4RBI's and B.J. Solomon went 2-4 with a HR 3RBI's. It doesn't get any easier for the Colonials tomorrow when we face Manchester the #1 team in the Central Region and on of the best teams in the state. The CH girls soccer team tied Thomas Dale 2-2 last night while the boys soccer team lost 5-1 at TD. The softball team also fell at Thomas Dale 7-0. The Virginia baseball team will open a series with Maryland today weather permitting. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at the Texas Motor Speedway. It is going to be warm today here in CH with highs in the mid 70's but there is a pretty good chance of rain today as well. My PAIN index is up again this morning because my left knee is sore and I don't know why it is. Have a nice weekend. MICKEY

Health Benefits of Potatoes
Potatoes are one of the most popular vegetables because they are nutritious, easy to prepare, and very versatile. They’re rich in complex carbohydrates that can supply energy, but not all that high in calories. One medium-sized potato (about 3 inches in diameter) has about 150 calories. That same potato has about 5 grams of fiber, which is important for a healthy digestive tract. They’re also a healthy source of vitamins and minerals.

Potatoes contain more potassium than any other fresh vegetable in the produce department – even more than bananas. One potato has almost 900 milligrams, which is about 20% of what you need every day. Potassium is important for body growth and cell maintenance. It’s also necessary for nervous function and for normal muscle contraction - including the heart muscle. Potassium is also an electrolyte that helps to balance the fluids in your body, which is important for healthy blood pressure.

Potatoes also contain substantial amounts of vitamins C6 and B67, which are vital for blood clotting, wound healing, a strong immune system, normal nervous system function and for converting the food you eat to energy. There’s also a substance called kukoamine found in potatoes that may help to lower blood pressure, although more research is necessary to know for sure.
