COLONIALS WIN, CAPITALS STAY ALIVE

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team picked up it's 2nd victory of the season yesterday 4-3 over Varina. Freshman left hander Devin Miles lead the way on the mound going 6 2/3 innings allowing just 4 hits and he also went 1-2 at the plate driving a run also and B.J. Solomon cam in to get the save. Next up for the Colonials are Dinwiddie Generals on Tuesday at home. The CH softball team beat Varina yesterday 9-1 and with the win they are now 9-3 on the season. The Thomas Dale baseball team beat Hopewell yesterday 12-0, Hopewell did not get a hit in the game and was the 2nd consecutive game that Knights pitchers have not allowed at hit. The Virginia baseball team got the weekend started off right beating N.C. State 6-2. The Washington Capitals stated alive last night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs beating the New York Rangers 4-0, the series will head back to New York tomorrow afternoon with the Rangers leading the series 3-2. They will qualify this morning at Talladega for tomorrows race. It's going to be in the 90's the next 4 days so stay cool and don't forget to put your sun tan lotion on if your going to be outside to long. I did make my weekly trip to Wal-Mart this morning and yes the donuts were very good. MICKEY

Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent. ~Marilyn vos Savant

To boost your metabolism and burn more calories consider alternating between two different kinds of exercise rather than just sticking to one. Trying running one day and stair climbing or swimming on another.

TODAY IS
National Zucchini Bread Day (either today or 23rd)
World YMCA Day
East Meets West Day
World Penguin Day

Floss every day. That may help keep your arteries healthy. A 2008 New York University study showed that daily flossing reduced the amount of gum-disease-causing bacteria in the mouth. This bacteria is thought to enter the bloodstream and trigger inflammation in the arteries, a major risk factor for heart disease. Other research has shown that those who have high amounts of bacteria in their mouth are more likely to have thickening in their arteries, another sign of heart disease. "I really do think people should floss twice a day to get the biggest life expectancy benefits," stresses Perls.

Value in the giving
There have been times when the kindness of another person has changed your life for the better. And it's easy to see that kindness has the power to reach far beyond itself.
In the most difficult of moments, kindness heals and reassures. Kindness gives comfort, and hope where there was none before.

Kindness can inspire confidence. It changes for the better the perspective of those it touches.

When you seek to make a difference, kindness is a great place to start. Just the simple desire to give it is all you really must have.

So give kindness, freely and without hesitation. Whether you get it back does not really even matter, for its true value is in the giving.

Live with kindness, and you'll always see life's very best possibilities. For in kindness, is the heart of who you truly are.

-- Ralph Marston
