AL AND KEITH IN FOOTBALL ACTION

Well since it has been so quiet around here on the blog I thought I would post an old football photo taken here in CH in the front yard many years ago. It does appear that both Al and Keith are posing for the photo. The CH girls basketball team defeated Matoaca last night 57-41 setting up a showdown with Meadowbrook thursday night at CH. The JV girls team also picked up a victory last night as well. The boys team will be at Matoaca tonight. With the Super Bowl now over racing is the next thing to get started and that happens this week with the Bud Shootout saturday night at Daytona and qualify for the front row of the Daytona 500 on sunday. Dukes Stadium was well remembered for the short lefy field wall with the built in press box. A few ball went thru the press box window. The stadium owner , sometimes known as Mr Safety , when he supervised the ground crew cutting the grass, was not real happy about the broken press box windows. The defensive stand out for the Dukes was J P Tree.He robbed the Holly Berries of many home runs with his vertical skills.Duke Stadium was also utilized for football's famous big games . One stands out when Melanie caught the Berries game winning ttouchdown in the mud snow and sleet. The Dukes were mayonaise. The stadium was closed after the famous heine -ball incident. It was an ugly scene from the history of the now defunct Duke Stadium.
