PACKERS WIN AGAIN, REDSKINS LET ONE SLIP AWAY

The Green Bay Packers improved to 2-0 with a 34-7 win over the Buffalo Bills and they didn't play very well in my opinion. If they had been playing a good team they would have been in trouble in first half, next week the Packers travel the Chicago who upset Dallas yesterday. The Washington Redskins lost to Tennessee Titans yesterday 30-27 in OT, the Skins won the first 3 quarters of the game but forgot to show up for the 4th quarter. Former Virginia QB Matt Schaub did the Skins in, the Skins will be at St. Louis next week. Clint Bowyer captured the 1st race in the chase yesterday at New Hampshire edging out Denny Hamlin for the win, Hamlin does still lead the standings though as the Sprint Cup Series heads to Dover next week. Also yesterday I think Dale Jr. had his best finish of the year coming home 4th. I have had visitor at the house yesterday afternoon as fellow blogger Mark stopped by for a visit. MICKEY

Microwaving zaps nutrients
The Truth: This is misguided thinking, says Carol Byrd-Bredbenner, Ph.D., R.D., professor of nutrition at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Whether you’re using a microwave, a charcoal grill or a solar-heated stove, “it’s the heat and the amount of time you’re cooking that affect nutrient losses, not the cooking method,” she says. “The longer and hotter you cook a food, the more you’ll lose certain heat- and water-sensitive nutrients, especially vitamin C and thiamin [a B vitamin].” Because microwave cooking often cooks foods more quickly, it can actually help to minimize nutrient losses.
