The Angels came into existence in 1961. Conners did not play for the Angels. he played for the Dodgers. Thr major league draft was not in effect in 1961 when I signed with the Twins. Playeers could sign their original contract with any team . Once signed they belonged to the team under the reserve clauge unless released , traded or retired.
