THOMAS DALE WINS, PENGUINS ADVANCE

The Thomas Dale baseball team beat Lee-Davis yesterday afternoon 6-5 to advance to the semi-finals of the Central Region Playoffs Thursday night against Deep Run. Thomas Dale got the game winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning after Lee-Davis had tied the game with a 2 run HR in the top of the 7th. The other team from Central District Matoaca didn't fair as well last night, Matoaca lost at Hanover 6-1 last night. In the NHL playoffs last night the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Carolina Hurricanes last night 4-1, with the win the Penguins win the series 4-0 an advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. It looks I am going to be heading down to East Carolina this Saturday and Sunday to watch NCAA baseball tournament, ECU is the #1 seed in the Greenville Regional and South Carolina is #2 seed followed by George Mason and Binghamton. I definitely will be rooting for East Carolina and Virginia to advance to 2nd round of the NCAA baseball tournament. MICKEY

The American Heart Association offers these suggestions to help you safely manage your medications:

-Store medications in a cool, dark dry place. Don't store them in a bathroom or anywhere else that's prone to moisture.
-Know which medications, including over-the-counter drugs, that shouldn't be taken at the same time.
-Always take medications the way your doctor tells you to, and for as long as he or she prescribes.
-Remind yourself to refill your prescriptions before you run out.
-To better track your medications, get them all filled at one pharmacy.
-Build a relationship with a pharmacist, and try to always consult with the same one. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
-Tell each of your doctors about every medication you take, including any over-the-counter and herbal remedies.
-Don't suffer through side effects. Speak with your doctor about potential ways to prevent them.
-Don't split or crush any medication unless your pharmacist says it's OK; it can affect the way the medication works.

Be prepared for temptation. Many dieters' weight-loss efforts are derailed when they attend a holiday party, wedding, or other special event that involves delicious food and beverages. If you're heading to an event where you expect to be tempted, make sure you go into it with a strategy. Tell yourself that you'll stop after one glass of wine or you'll watch your portions. If you don’t have a plan, it's easy to lose control quickly.
