ANOTHER RAINY MORNING, WORLD SERIES STARTS TONIGHT

Well for the 2nd morning in a row I have been awoken by the sound of rain hitting the aluminum siding on the house. I just don't like waking up in the morning knowing that is raining outside, I don't mind it raining later in the day but for some reason when its raining early in the day it just make for a long day. The World Series is suppose to start tonight in New York weather permitting, there is a 100% chance of rain during the day but that chance drops to 30% tonight, I guess it just depends on how much rain they get during the day. In case you missed it last night there was a college football game last night on ESPN2, East Carolina beat Memphis 38-19, next week the Pirates will face Virginia Tech at home on Thursday night. In case you missed it I am now posting my pain index again and you find it on the scroller on the right side of the page. MICKEY

Skip the Candy
It might feel like you're violating some code, but more and more people are opting to hand-out healthy snacks or non-edibles as Halloween treats. Colored pencils, boxes of raisins, organic lollipops, granola bars, or party favor toys are all great alternatives to traditional candy.

Energy Zapper #1: Being Addicted to E-mail
Isn't being wired to the hilt--e-mail, voice mail, IM, BlackBerry--supposed to boost productivity, freeing up your energy? More often, the opposite is true. If you continually halt what you're doing to answer e-mail, check voice mail, and attend to a thousand other beeps and blips, your attention becomes diluted, which leaves you feeling depleted.

There are two things going on here, says John Salerno, MD, a New York City family physician and director of the Salerno Center for Complementary Medicine. "The brain needs a lot of physical and mental energy to multitask, which gets drained," he says. And continually redirecting your attention from the BlackBerry to other stimuli siphons more energy and distracts your brain further.
