THINGS ARE GETTING TIGHT IN THE ACC AGAIN

With Duke's upset win over Boston College last night there are four teams with three losses atop the ACC basketball standings. Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC and Boston College all have three losses in conference but BC has 9 wins so they are technicallyin 1st by percentage points over the other three teams because they only have 8 wins at this time. There still are several big games coming for all team atop the ACC in the last two weeks of the season. Today at Daytona they will set the remainder of the field for Sunday's Daytona 500, the Gatorade Duals start at 2pm on Speed TV. There have been several teams that have been caught cheating this weekend and the crew chiefs for the 9,10, 17, 19 and 55 cars are no longer at Daytona, all have been ejected and the owners and the drivers of those teams have been docked points as well. Last night on the 6pm news Jim Duncan said they overall weather pattern for central Virginia will improve greatly next week when the polar jet stream retreats to north, he said the temps should start moderating greatly around mid week and that there maybe a cold day or two but the overall temps should be much milder starting next weeek which sounds good to me. Since I haven't mentioned it lately, my treadmill still isn't working properly. MICKEY

Boil meets grill
If you're boiling vegetables, you're losing key nutrients. There is a better way. Turn up the oven to 425 degrees and roast 'em. High heat seals in the veggies' juices -- and the nutrients, which leech out in boiling water. The flavor is remarkably better, too -- roasting caramelizes veggies' natural sugars, and you won't need a pat of butter or a cheese sauce to dress them up. When roasting, cut the vegetable into evenly sized pieces to ensure even cooking. Spray a baking sheet with heart-healthy canola or olive oil. Spread the veggies evenly out on the sheet, and spray with the oil. Add your favorite seasoning and roast until the veggies are tender on the inside.
