CHHS BASKETBALL TEAMS IN DISTRICT TOURNAMENT TONIGHT

Both the CH girls and boys team will be action tonight in the Central District basketball tournament. The girls team will be at home at 7pm playing the Thomas Dale Knights and the boys team will be traveling to Petersburg to play the Crimson Wave. The UVA basketball team will step out of the ACC tonight and play the Longwood Lancers at the JPJ Arena. The UVA baseball team was also suppose to play Longwood today but that game has been postponed because of impending weather. Where has everybody been on the blog, the # of people visiting each day has been on a steady decline over the last few weeks. There are several people who are members who never make a comment on anything. I have tried to get some new members and get some of the old members to switch over to the new format but they haven't maybe Mickey's Place has run its course. I have posted an old photo of several bloggers on a trip we made to Georgia back in the early 70's, I guess fellow blogger Keith had to take the photo since he is not in it. Scott how did Scottie's first day of baseball practice go yesterday? It looks like it is going to be a rainy day here in CH. MICKEY

The greatest mistake is trying to be more agreeable than you can be.

1920 - The National Negro Baseball League was organized on this day.
1953 - Major-league baseball owners were warned by Senator Edwin Johnson against televising their games nationwide. The Senator said that broadcasting these games to a national audience would be a threat to the survival of minor league baseball. Major league owners did not ‘go to bat’ for the Senator. Games, particularly on NBC, received a large and loyal following.
1971 - The Osmonds, a family singing group from Ogden, Utah, began a five-week stay at the top of the pop music charts with the hit, One Bad Apple. The song, featuring the voice of little Donny Osmond, also showcased the talent of Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay Osmond.
1999 - Oscar De La Hoya retained his WBC welterweight crown by KO-ing the previously unKO-ed (and undefeated) Ike Quartey of Ghana. De La Hoya won a split decision in Las Vegas.
