PACKERS MOVE ON TO NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The Green Bay Packers overcame a slow start which saw the Packers fall behind 14-0 in the first four minutes of the game to come back and defeat the Seahawks 42-20 at snowy Lambeau Field. The Packers were lead offensively by Ryan Grant who ran for 201 yards on 27 carries and had 3 touchdowns, it was Grant who fumbled twice early in the game that set up Seattle's only two TD's. I have to say he sure did redeem himself with the performance he had. Brett Favre also threw 2 TD passes for he Pack. Green Bay will play the winner of todays NY Giants vs Dallas game next week. In yesterdays other NFL playoff game the New England Patriots beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-20, the Patriots will play the winner of todays Colts vs Chargers game next week. The Richmond Renegades extended there winning streak to 4 games with a 5-2 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears last night at the RC in front of 4,539 Renegade fans, the Gades are now off until Wednesday night when the Twin City Cyclones visit the RC. The Virginia Cavalier basketball team opens up ACC play tonight at 8pm against the Duke Blue Devils at Duke, not only will the Cavs have to beat Duke but they will also have to overcome a little home cooking at Cameron, Duke seems to get every call at home. Also I was able to run outside yesterday for the first time in about a month and a half, my foot is still sore but it is bearable right now. MICKEY

Fitness Tip
Fitness and food formulate a winning combination. The more you move, the better you eat. People who exercise at least 3 hours a week tend to eat a more balanced diet and think twice before pigging out. Plus, they don’t have to cut as many calories from their diet and risk feeling deprived or cranky.

SEATTLE AT GREEN BAY, RENEGADES BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT

The Seattle Seahawks will visit Green Bay in the 1st NFL playoff game of the day at 4:30pm with the winner advancing to the NFC championship game. It still looks like there will be a slight chance of snow and temps around freezing at game time which is like spring like day in Green Bay in January. I hope all you fellow bloggers will be rooting for the Packers. In todays other game the Jacksonville Jaguars will visit New England to play the Patriots, I know there are allot of people out there who hope Jacksonville can pull a major upset and I am one of those people. The Richmond Renegades look to extend there winning streak to four games tonight when the 1st place Knoxville Ice Bears visit the RC, the Gades have been playing well offensively in there last few games. The CH boys basketball team didn't fair to well against Meadowbrook last night as well, the boys team fell 80-38, it's safe to say Meadowbrook has the Colonials number in basketball this year. I have posted a link to the photos Al took at Thursday nights girls game below if anybody wants to see them. My foot is a bit sore this morning, it felt pretty good there for a couple of days but it started bothering me some last night, I have taken some Advil and drank some cherry juice this morning and I am hoping that will make it feel a bit better. 1971 - All In the Family debuted on CBS-TV. Carroll O’Connor starred as Archie Bunker, Rob Reiner as Meathead, Sally Struthers as Gloria and Jean Stapleton as Edith, ‘The Dingbat’. “Stifle yourself!” Originally, ABC had plans to broadcast the series under the title, Those Were the Days.

Raise up all of life
Do you wish to invest your life in anger, or would you prefer to invest it in love? Would you like to spend your time and energy creating enemies, or would you rather be building and strengthening friendships?

Do you really need all those flashy, useless things that serve only to somehow make you feel superior to others? Is there really anything to be gained by being haughty and rude?

Every moment of life can be a unique, wondrous and deeply inspiring experience. Why would you ever consider wasting even a tiny bit of your precious time on petty bickering or one-upmanship?

Let go of the silly need to prove anything and you'll free yourself to accomplish so very much. The only way to raise yourself up is to raise up others, to raise up your world, to raise up all of life.

Joy comes to you when you give it. Happiness is yours when you live it.

Everything you need, you are already capable of being. Smile from the heart and fulfill the destiny that is yours in this beautiful moment.

ANOTHER WARM DAY, TGIF

Well we are going to have another warm but rainy day here in Colonial Heights. It is suppose to get up into the upper 60's to low 70's and there is a pretty good chance of rain as well. Enjoy today because it looks like it is going to be in the 40's all of next week. The CH girls basketball team had a pretty rough outing last night falling to Meadowbrook 76-28, tonight the boys team will play at Meadowbrook. The NFL playoffs will resume on Saturday with the Seattle Seahawks visting Green Bay to play the Packers in the 1st game followed by Jacksonville visiting New England. In Green Bay tomorrow it looks like there be a chance of light snow and the temps will be a balmy 30 at game time. The Richmond Renegades are off tonight and will back at home Saturday night against the Knoxville Ice Bears. This week sure has flown by, it just doesn't feel like it Friday already but I am not complaining. MICKEY

Health and Diet Tip
Your weight is just a number on the scale. Since muscle is denser tissue than fat, you may weigh more than the average person. But you also may be fitter and healthier than someone who’s the same height, but weighs less. Your healthy weight is the weight at which you feel good, have plenty of energy, and don’t have any obesity-related illnesses including hypertension, type 2 diabetes and arthritis.

Fitness Tip
Forget laughter, exercise is the best medicine. In a survey of more than 46,000 people, exercise scored better than other remedies for allergies, depression, high cholesterol, insomnia and respiratory infections. Participants also favored exercise over alternative therapies such as herbs and acupuncture.

No worry
Here's a simple, easy way to make an immediate and profound improvement in the quality of your life. Stop worrying.

The next time you catch yourself wrapping your mind around a worry, choose to let that worry fall completely away. Notice how much more positive and effective you suddenly are.

Worry poisons your thoughts and keeps life's best opportunities hidden from you. Worry actually increases the power and influence of those undesirable things you worry about.

Certainly it's important to look clearly and realistically at life's dangers, problems and challenges. Yet there is nothing to be gained by worrying about them.

Choose to replace each negative worry with positive action. Instead of looking down, pick yourself up and move forward.

Every moment is filled with countless opportunities to create lasting value. Stop worrying, and start living with richness, purpose and real joy.

The Richmond Renegades will meet the Fayetteville FireAntz tonight at the RC, the Gades will be going for there 3rd straight win. There is no love loss between these two team and the game are usually pretty physical, the Gades however still will not have the services of there two tough guys Goody & Sicard. It was a tough night for both the Colonial Heights boys and girls basketball teams against Thomas Dale last night, the boys team played well but fell to the Knights 65-56 and the girls team fell 67-36. Health Tip: Low-Sodium Meals
Sodium (salt) is a contributing factor to high blood pressure, and too much in one's diet can be dangerous, especially for those with heart disease. Here are suggestions on how to prepare meals with less sodium, courtesy of the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute: * Avoid adding extra salt to your food when you eat it. * Reduce the amount of salt that you use when you cook. Use fresh herbs instead. * Don't salt the water used to boil rice or pasta. * Avoid using packets of sauce or seasoning. They are usually high in sodium. * Use fresh foods and ingredients when you can. Prepackaged or processed foods often contain a lot of sodium.

It was a game that seemed like it might never end -- both teams skated to a 3-3 tie. Esposito quit the New York Rangers and went on to become General Manager and coach of the Rangers. Phil Esposito played for the Boston Bruins when he won the Hart Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Player in the NHL in 1969 and 1974 and helped lead the Bruins to two Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972.

No agency, private or governmental, regulates or inspects dietary supplements for safety or purity. Let the buyer beware.

Add kindness
Whatever can be done, can be done more effectively when you add kindness to it. Whatever is said, becomes much more convincing when expressed with genuine kindness.

The kindness in just one moment can have a positive impact that lasts for years and years. Kindness is a gift that keeps giving for a lifetime.

Kindness is not complicated, and it comes naturally when you open your heart to life. Kindness brings new light and hope to the darkest of days.

Act with kindness, and you will have no regrets. Kindness is an easy, modest investment that pays generous dividends in the sense of fulfillment it brings.

Kindness dissolves the pain and speeds the healing. When logic and reason say there is no hope, kindness can pave the way forward.

Positive purpose
Certain opportunities will come and go. Yet it is never too late and never too early to experience the richness of living with positive purpose.

Circumstances change from moment to moment, week to week, and year to year. And in every circumstance there are ways to find true fulfillment.

You can always make a difference. You can always make a valuable contribution.

By so doing, you connect yourself to life's greatest treasures. For the treasures that bring fulfillment are the ones you have a part in creating.

The joys of this golden moment are yours to live, no matter how you arrived here. For in this moment you have the opportunity to give the best of yourself.

This day is as fresh and wonderful and filled with opportunity as any you've ever known. Live it with positive purpose, and taste the richness you will surely create.

REDSKINS SEASON COMES TO AN END, RENEGADES WIN AGAIN

The Washington Redskins fell behind 13-10 before coming back and taking a 14-13 lead only have Seattle score 23 unanswered points in defeating the Skins 35-14. The Skins just couldn't do anything offensively in the 1st half but did catch some breaks in the 2nd half before falling apart at the end of the game, the Skins had a very tough and emotional season. In yesterdays other playoff game Jacksonville tried to give the game away, the Jaguars lead 28-10 in the 3rd quarter only to have the Steelers come back and take 29-28 lead before the Jaguars kicked a late field goal and come away with a 31-29 win. I will not be predicting anymore outcomes of this years playoff games because I was 0-2 yesterday. In playoff action today the NY Giants will visit Tampa Bay and the Tennessee Titans will visit San Diego. The Richmond Renegades picked up there 2nd win in as many nights against the Twin City Cyclones beating the Cyclones 4-2, the Gades return home Wednesday night against the Fayetteville FireAntz. I have posted a link below to the photos Al took at Friday night CH girls basketball against Lee Davis. I started to taking cherry juice for my foot and I have say it tastes pretty bad, I haven't been taking it long enough yet to see if it helping with my pain yet. Well it looks like we will have a taste of an early spring the next few days. MICKEY

The language of friendship is not words but meanings.
Henry David Thoreau

Give and receive
Give a little kindness, and receive friendship in return. Give an extra effort, and receive even more value in return.

Give an honest answer, and receive trust in return. Give a smile, and receive joy in return.

Give with real meaning, and receive fulfillment in return. Give thanks, and receive true abundance in return.

Give your full attention, and receive a positive experience in return. Give your knowledge, and learn something in return.

Give what you treasure most, and receive much more of it in return. Give what you can, and receive the best of who you are.

Give of yourself. And receive a life of richness in return.
-- Ralph Marston
