COLONIALS WIN AGAIN, VCU STUNS DUKE

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team improved 2-0 on the young season with a 9-2 victory over the Sussex Tigers at Shepherd Stadium. The Colonials were lead by Brett Draper on the mound striking out 9 and offensively for the Colonials Erik Loftis and Kenny Stoneback each had HR's in the win. The Colonials next game is Tuesday at home against the Notttoway Cougars. The CH softball team also won yesterday 16-2. Also yesterday the Thomas Dale Knights lost a tough one at Varina falling 8-7, the Knights have three game next week before opening up CD play. How about those VCU Rams last night knocking off the Duke Blue Devils 79-77, with the win the Rams will now meet Pittsburgh on Saturday and could move into he sweet 16 with a victory. The ODU Monarchs were not so lucky yesterday as they fell to Butler. Today UVA will face Albany and Virginia Tech will meet Illinois. The Nascar Nextel Cup Series is at Atlanta this weekend. The Richmond Renegades also return to action tonight when the travel NC to play the FireAntz who have won 10 straight games. The UVA baseball team needs to get back on track in ACC play but won't be easy this weekend when travel to Chapel Hill, NC to play UNC. With the impending rain here in CH there will be no baseball practice today, that is very good news for my shoulder because it is hurting again and it sure could use three days rest. MICKEY

Both HRs were in 1st inning. Kenny led off with his HR to start the game. JD got a double and then Erik knocked him in with his HR. It was awesome!
