FALL ARRIVES IN FORCE
Well Fall will arrive in force over the next few days as the temperature will not rise out of the 50's at least through Sunday and possibly even further and the lows several night are now predicted to be in the 30's. It looks like that I will have to turn the heat on for the 1st time this year in my room at night the next few nights. It looks like the rain will set tonight as well for the next few days as well. It looks like the price of gas is on the rise as well, the price of has gone up about $5 a barrel since Monday which has translated to about 10 cent a gallon rise at the pumps so far. Well my truck is out of the shop after having the tires rotated and the oil changed, they didn't find anything else wrong with though. The light that was showing up on the dashboard indicated that the engine wasn't coming up to temperature fast enough, he said there could be a problem with the thermostat but he thought it was ok. Don’t Get Caught in the Maze
You just came in for a few items, but your bill adds up to $25. How’d that happen? Impulse buys! Grocery store managers know that the longer you stay in the store, the more likely you’ll buy things you don’t want or need. Supermarkets are designed to make you pass the most tempting items in order to get to necessities (milk, eggs, produce, meat). If you dash in for just a few staples, stick to the perimeter of the store and avoid the center aisles.
Washing Machine
Your washing machine is where clothes get clean, right? Not always. According to Charles P. Gerba, PhD, of the University of Arizona Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science, your laundry machine could be contaminating your clothing and linens.
Here’s why: “The reason we have more viruses not being removed by laundry today is because 95 percent of Americans use cold-water washes with an average wash cycle of about 12 minutes,” says Dr. Gerba. “Contrast this to European Miele washing machines, with 140-minute wash cycles and the ability to set the wash temperature to 180 degrees.”
Want to zap the germs in your dirty clothes? Dr. Gerba recommends washing most loads in hot water. “Undergarments are the worst, and you should try to use bleach in these loads, otherwise they will contaminate the next load,” he says.
