Colonials Get Back On Track

The Colonials baseball team got back on track today with a 10-0 victory over the Hopewell Bluedevils. The Colonials were lead by the 1 hit pitching performance by Nathan Anger and the power of a Andrew Holt 2 run HR. The Colonials will play the Cadets of Benedectine friday AT 1PM AT L.C. Bird, weather permitting. I may be heading to the beach this weeekend but I haven't decided for sure yet. This weekends stop on the Nascar Nextel Cup Series is at Bristol, I am sure there will be some tepmers flairing and alot of excitement. By the way our baseball record is now 3-1, it would be nice to pick up win #4 friday. MICKEY

Colonials Leave Bats At Home

What else can I say when we only get 1 hit and strike out 17 times in one game. I guess you figured out we didn't win, final score L.C. Bird 7 CH 0. The game got of to a good start for us we got the first two batters on base before the Bird pitcher came back to strike out the side. Also in the game we lost our 1st baseman when he was hit in the elbow by a pitch, it looks like he will be out for a few games alot of swelling. The game was scoreless until the bottum of the 4th inning when Bird got 4 runs. However in baseball if you don't hit, you don't win. Well we play Hopewell at 10am thursday, hopefully we can turn things around, however I have to work so I will not be at the game. I will be keeping up with the score by phone with Brian Holt. Hopefully tommorow will be a better day. MICKEY

Postponed Again

Our game tuesday night has been postponed until wednesday now. The tournament now runs wednesday, thursday and friday. The only game time that is known is wed night at 7pm against L.C. Bird. We were able to get in the cage this afternoon, the stadium field is in bad shape though, could be a few more days before we can get back on the field. We actually had t-storms here this morning in CH. I saw on the weather channel that in Georgia near were Scott lives there was some pretty big flooding problems yesterday, maybe Scott can give us an update on that. Well it's suppose to be pretty nice the next cuple of days temp wise, but then it might rain again on friday. MICKEY

It Has Been A Couple Of Long Days

The last two days have been a couple of long days for me. First saturday, went to Caleb's birthday bash in the morning from 11am till about 2:30pm by the time we got back from eating and then running on the treadmill for about 30 minutes and then it was time to go to the hockey game about 5:30pm. That's when me and Lee were sitting in the car and a couple of ?able subjects were walking on both sides of the streets and looking in cars for things and one of them came right by us as we sat in the car and called the other one across the street, then the one who walked by us went back up the hill past us. That's when we got out of the car and went in under the coliseum and told the lady at the desk what was going on, she called the police on the radio. The subject on the other side of the street had busted out several car windows, I went with the officer and they stopped the subjects a couple of streets over and one subjects did have a loaded gun on him, and he did get away while one subject was taken into custody a 14 year old. It was quite an experience for me and Lee. Then on sunday I left for the beach at 7am and took mom's car down there and them me and dad came back around 5:45 and got back home around 9pm, it just feel like I have been on the go since friday night. Well we were going to have baseball practice on the field today but guess what, it is raining again, well we might be able to get in the cage I guess. We are suppose to play at L.C. Bird tuesday night at 7pm for anyone who is interested in going. MICKEY

Fury Take A Bite Out Of Dogs

The Muskegon Fury destroyed the Dogs 10-2 in a terrible display of hockey. The fans did get a bit restless towards the end of the game with Fire Martin and We Want Langway chants. I am going to the beach in the morning to take the car down so mom will have a car to drive next week while she is on spring break, me and dad will be back sometime sunday night. MICKEY

Baseball Postponed Again Today

Well mother nature has forced the postponement of our game in the L.C. Bird until tuesday night at 7pm. The rest of the tourney will be played on wednesday and thursday weather permitting. I got see the Riverdogs win last night in there first game from a 4 week road trip, the Dogs defeated the Muskegon Fury 4-2. The game was delayed for about 45 minutes because of ice problems, needless to say we were a little late getting home last night. Les was offended last night when while looking thru his binoculers an off ice official gave him an obsecene gesture. The same two teams play again tonight if anybody is interested in going, also today I am going to Caleb's birthday bash at Skate America. MICKEY

A Pretty Good Day

It was a pretty good day her in CH even though our baseball game was postponed until friday. We did get to hit in the cage though and yes my arm is pretty sore. The location of the game tommorow has yet to be determined, we may go to L.C. Bird if Shepherd Stadium is unplayable, and thats a very big ? After practice today we had birthday dinner bash at Red Lobster for AL, and have to say the food was pretty good. Well lets hope the rain holds off at least long enough for us to get our games in this weekend, but it doesn't look to good. Well if we get rained I guess I will go see the Riverdogs play. Keith and Maureen we haven't seen any more information about Andew's Little League Fundraiser. MICKEY
Today is Al's birthday so I thought I would post his picture. It doesn't look good for baseball today, doesn't look like the sun is going to be out to much today. The weather can't get much worst than it's been. MICKEY

Not Looking Good For Thursday

Well it's not looking good for baseball on thursday. The field is pretty wet and it looks like it going to rain some more tonight. We didn't have any practice not even in the cage beacuse of the rain. I have recieved comments from the following people on the blog they are Al, Keith, Donna, Scott, Claire, Lee and Anonymous. There have been some interesting comments posted and it's good to see that somebody is looking at the blog. It looks like the rain will end later tonight and it's going to be ok on thursday and friday, but there is a chance of rain again saturday and sunday. Don't forget that thursday is Al's birthday. Getting Ready For Our Next Couple Of Games

Well we had a pretty good practice today as we prepare for out next two game against LC Bird. Hopefully the rain will hold off and we will be able to get the games in. The field here in CH can't take much more water, so if we get much rain I doubt we will be able to play thursday. If anybody wants to come either game they are at 4:30 thusday in CH and at LC Bird at 7pm saturday night. I guess I will get to see the Riverdogs play again this friday, they are finally coming home. The season almost over and the playoffs are pretty much have gone out the window for them. We also have another birthday this week Al will turn 40? something on thursday. MICKEY

Colonials Get Another Victory

We got another victory today 16-0 over Chesterfield Community High School. The pitching staff combined on a perfect game with 11 strikeouts, the offense supplied 17 hits. Our next game is thursday weather permitting against LC BIRD at home, it should be a much tougher contest. I will post a photo or two either tonight or sometime tuesday from todays game. Hopefully we will be able to get in practice tuesday before the rains come. Anybody who is reading this blog leave me some comments in the comments section, I would like to know who is reading it, THANKS< MICKEY

Another Game Today

Well we have our second game of the season today and it looks like the weather is going to be ok with temps in the 60's. The game doesn't start until 5pm though so it could get a little cool in the late innings. How about Carl Edwards getting his first wins in the Busch Series and the Nextel Cup Series on consecutive days, and then he does that back flip after he wins, I think I would land on my head if I tries that. The Riverdogs finally won again yesterday with a 6-5 vicrory over one of the worst teams in the league Elmira. They haven't been officially eliminated from the playoffs but there on there last leg. Spring Is Here

Well it looks like spring is going to come in today with some more warm temps here in CH. The last two days made it to the mid 60's and it does look like it is going to get there again today. We had some last night but it is gone right now but it is really foggy this morning. I am tired this morning because I stayed up and watched the end of the West Va and Wake Forest game last night and it was a wild won with West VA picking up the win in 2OT. I went to Ruths's house yesterday at lunch time and went out to eat with Al at Uno's last night, we were going to O'Charleys but they were hanging out the door there. I talked to Scott yesterday and he was on motorcycle ride from Macon to Colombus to raise money for the troops, he was trying to out run the rain on the way back to Macon, I think he probably did. The Riverdogs got pounded again last night 10-2 to Motor City just outside of Detroit, and the coach continues to use injuries as the reason they keep losing. They do come back home next weekend but I doubt if anybody wants to go see them since they have lost about 10 in a row. MICKEY

Two Nice Days

It looks like we are going to get at leat two nice days in a row, it was in the mid 60's yesterday here in CH and it's suppose to get there again today. There is a chance of rain overnight but it should clear by sunday afteroon. I decided to stay in town this weekkend. I watched the truck race last night and it was a good one, at least at the end it was, Scott and family made the trip over to Hampton, Ga to watch the race. I also was flipping back and forth to the NCAA basketball tournament, how about The Big Green of Vermont and the Bucknell Bison with two big upsets. MICKEY

It's Like A Broken Record

This rain that is, rain one day and cloudy or sunny the next. I think we got enough rain to keep us off the field again friday, looks like we will be in the cage again. Spring is suppose to come in sunday afternoon, hopeully the warm dry weather will come in with it. To awnser Keiths's ? yes we are back in the 3rd base dugouts. I haven't decided whether or not I am going to the beach yet this weekend, I will decide friday. MICKEY

Clouldy, Then Rainy Day

It was a cloudy then rainy day here CH. Just as soon as we were going to start practice the rains came. We didn't do anything but go over yesterays game. After practice me and dad went over to K & L BBQ for supper, mom was at yoga. Dad went to CHHS pep rally tonight, I didn't make it because I needed to run on treadmill. Well I am going to get all my green clothes out for St. Patricks Day. MICKEY

Opening Day Win

Well we got an opening day win today beating Chesterfield Community High School 25-1. Needless to say they were not a verg good team, they just had one hit. We are off until next monday when we play Chesterfeild Community again, and then we finish the week with back to back games with LC BIRD on thursday and saturday. Those games at the end of the week should be a good test for us. MICKEY

Game Postponed

Today's baseball game was postponed until tuesday at 4:30pm, the field was just a little to soft. We did get to hit in the cage today and it looks like the weather will be ok for tuesdays game. After practice tonight headed out to the Cracker Barrell for supper and it was good. Al will be taken some baseball photos at the game and I will post some here. MICKEY

Gameday

Well it's suppose to be gameday but yes it did rain during the night and there is a chance of rain today. I don't think it rained hard enough yet to cancel todays game so hopefully it will be a go, the game starts at 4:30. I watched yesterdays race and I don't think Dale Jr could get off to a worst start than he has, he is falling like a rock in the point staindings. I was pulling for the 5 to beat the 48 though, I just don't like the 48. Well I will have a baseball update tonight. MICKEY

Raining Again

Well I woke up to rain drops hitting my window again, it seems we are stuck in this cool rainy weather pattern. We are suppose to play are first game monday weather permitting, but yes there is another chance of rain tonight and in the morning. It was pretty quiet aroung here saturday just watch some basketball games and the Busch race. Last night I did go over to Dick's Sporting Goods it was the first time, I had ever been in one of there stores besides the online store. I went over there with Al and one other ?able subject. One Sore Arm

Well all I can say is that I have one sore arm. The last two days it feels like I have thrown about 400 pitches, this is the first time that I have had to throw on back to back days. The good news is that I have 2 days rest before I have to throw again. The Riverdogs have lost again tonight, they might not win another game this year, they are bad. I am staying in town just to relax this weekend and I guess a will watch the races and college basketabll tourneys. MICKEY

TGIF

Thank god it's friday, I need a couple of days of rest. I only wish spring would hurry up and get here and bring it's warm temp's with it, I am just tired of all this cold damp weather. Well it looks like we will be able to get on the field again today for practice, we haven't been on the field to often on back to back days this year because of the weather. We have our first game of the season monday at 4:30 at home and it looks like the weather will be ok, but a little cool. Today is Mom's birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, MICKEY

Not To Bad Today

It was such a bad day weather, work, and baseball wise. The weather today in CH was much better that yesterday even though it is still a little cool for this time of year. Today at work I got to make the trip down RT 35 to the big City of Franklin, it wasn't a bad trip I haven't been down there since September. Today the ballfield was still a little to wet for practice so we had to hit in the cage again, our scrimmage for saturday has been cancelled, and we open the regular season monday at against Chesterfield Community High School in a non district game. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT. MICKEY

Wild Weather Day

It was a very wild weather day her in CH today. When I got up it was 60 degrees and raining and by noon it was in the mid 30's and snowing, and the wind was howling. In CH yesterday in was 72 and today it snow? Well needless to say the weather did stop us from having baseball practice, and it looks like it could be days before were back on the field again. We are suppose to have a scrimmage on saturday but the weather is looking very iffy at best. I saw on the news that the Applebees under construction in Nags Head collapsed during the high winds from the storm, the had a wind gust over 100 mph. If anyone is reading this blog please leave a comment in the comments box, I try to update it everday or so. MICKEY

We had a pretty good baseball prcatice and the weather was great. The temp to day was 70 but the rest of the week it is suppose to be in the 40's with a chance of rain a few times. There are a couple of birthdays this week with Scott on wed and mom on friday, I guess Scott will be going to Hooters for his birthday since Dusty and Scottie went there for there birthday. Thats all for now. MICKEY

Here is a cold sunrise photo taken March 6 during the early morning hours. The weather wasn't to bad at the beach this weekend but it did rain a little bit saturday. This is what I look like when I am mad.

no baseball today

Today's baseball scrimmage today has been cancelled due to field conditions. The team that we were going to play is leaving for Florida tommorow so th game will not be rescheduled. We are working on getting another scrimmage early next week with another school. The weather did improve a little today but it was still cold, hopefully spring will be just around the corner. MICKEY

BBRRRRR

It was another cold and blustery day here in CH, and it was another very cold day of baseball practice. We have a scrimmage scheduled for thursday and it now looks like the stadium will be ready for the game after all. It will be good to see the team actually take the field even thought it is a scrimmage game. I hope the weather warms up some next week. MICKEY

A bad night for hockey and baseball

It was another bad night for hockey for the Riverdogs as the went down to the Ft. Wayne Komets 3-0. They were outplayed all night and had few good scoring chances, the fans are getting a little restless with coach also. We were unable to get on field again today and it is very doubtful for wed, the field is very wet. We were able to hit in the cage but needless to say it was very cold and we had a few snow flurries also. MICKEY
