VIRGINIA WINS AGAIN, ECU FALLS TO SOUTH CAROLINA
The Virginia Cavalier baseball continued there winning ways last night beating Cal Irvine 5-0 behind another great pitching performance by Danny Hultzen and the Cavalier bullpen. The Cavalier defense turned several key double plays in the game and the Cavs offense rose to the occasion when they had to, the Cavs will play again tonight at 11pm just needing to win 1 more game to advance to the Super Regionals. The ECU Pirates didn't fair as well last night falling to South Carolina 12-2, the Pirates now have to beat Binghamton this afternoon and beat South Carolina to advance to the Super Regionals. I was going to todays games at ECU but after yesterdays long day and not knowing what time that I would get home tonight and staying up to 2am to watch the Virginia game I won't be making the trip today. Also in the NCAA baseball tournament last night Texas and Boston College played the longest baseball game in Div I history when Texas beat Boston College 3-2 in 25 innings, I am glad I was not at the game. The Detroit Red Wings beat Pittsburgh last night 3-1 to take a 1-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Finals, they will play game 2 tonight. The Nascar Nextel Cup Series will race at Dover this afternoon, David Reutimann will start on the pole with Kasey Kahne joining him on the front row. My PAIN index is up this morning just because I am tired. MICKEY

VIRGINIA WINS, I AM HEADING TO EAST CAROLINA
The Virginia Cavaliers beat San Diego State last night 5-1 in the NCAA baseball tournament, the Cavaliers will now face Cal Irvine who beat Fresno State last night tonight at 11pm and the game can be seen on ESPNU. I am going down to East Carolina today to see ECU play Binghamton this morning and if they win that game they will face South Carolina tonight, if they lose they will face George Mason this afternoon. It was a good day for the ACC as there teams went 7-0 yesterday. The Thomas Dale Knights lost a tough one last night to Deep Run 5-3, this game did not start until around 10pm and its not in your paper. Also tonight the Stanley Cup Finals began in Detroit. I did go down to Wal-Mart this morning and get some donuts, the only complaint I had with them this morning is that they had to much chocolate on them. MICKEY

COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYOFFS START TODAY, JR. GETS A NEW CREW CHIEF
The NCAA baseball playoffs began today at 16 different locations across the country. The Virginia Cavaliers will face San Diego State tonight at 7pm in California and the East Carolina Pirates will face Binghamton tonight at 7pm at ECU. I will be heading down to ECU tomorrow to see the Pirates in action. The Central Region baseball playoffs were rained out last night so they will try again tonight, Thomas Dale will face Deep Run at 7:30pm. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have a new crew chief this weekend at Dover, Hendrick Motorsports made the switch yesterday in an effort to jump start Jr's team, we will see what he can do now. Well the price of gas continues to go up, yesterday when I went to work it was $2.29 a gallon and when I came home it was $2.37 a gallon, it looks like gas maybe pushing the $3.00 a gallon mark by July 4. I did go out to watch Andrew's baseball game last night and they played to 7-7 tie, they start playoff action next week. I sure am glad it's Friday. MICKEY

Roses may have thorns, but they're still beautiful. The greatest joys and pleasures in life are often accompanied by a little pain.
Sweet freedom
Imagine being free from worry. Imagine being free from the grip of fear.
Think of all that you could accomplish. Think of how much more energy and enthusiasm and creativity you would have.
In fact, you can be free from the worries and fears. You can be free from them in an instant if you choose.
For worry is your own creation. Fear is nothing more than a response you have chosen.
Freedom is sweet, and energizing and powerful. Know that you can be free whenever you choose, and the fresh, empowering breeze of freedom begins to waft throughout your whole life.
This is a beautiful day and you are magnificently blessed. Free yourself to experience the richness of it all.

STANLEY CUP FINALS SET, THOMAS DALE BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT
The Stanley Cup Finals are now set with Detroit beating Chicago last night 2-1 in OT and winning the series 4-1, the Red Wings will face the Penguins for the Stanley Cup. The Thomas Dale baseball team will be back in action tonight at RF&P Park in Hanover against Deep Run at 7:30pm, I don't think that I will be going to tonights game, just to far to go on a work night. I may go to Andrew's LL game at Ironbridge though. The NCAA baseball playoffs start to tomorrow, Virginia will face San Diego State while East Carolina will face Binghamton. Love Your Sport
A major theme in human psychology is based upon the concept that success is a by-product of doing what you love and humans struggle when we attempt to apply the principle in reverse; mistakenly believing that success will bring happiness. This fundamental theory is also applied to sports success. If you love your sport, you will easily find pleasure in every aspect of it from training to racing -- and this is what brings success.

THOMAS DALE WINS, PENGUINS ADVANCE
The Thomas Dale baseball team beat Lee-Davis yesterday afternoon 6-5 to advance to the semi-finals of the Central Region Playoffs Thursday night against Deep Run. Thomas Dale got the game winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning after Lee-Davis had tied the game with a 2 run HR in the top of the 7th. The other team from Central District Matoaca didn't fair as well last night, Matoaca lost at Hanover 6-1 last night. In the NHL playoffs last night the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Carolina Hurricanes last night 4-1, with the win the Penguins win the series 4-0 an advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. It looks I am going to be heading down to East Carolina this Saturday and Sunday to watch NCAA baseball tournament, ECU is the #1 seed in the Greenville Regional and South Carolina is #2 seed followed by George Mason and Binghamton. I definitely will be rooting for East Carolina and Virginia to advance to 2nd round of the NCAA baseball tournament. MICKEY

The American Heart Association offers these suggestions to help you safely manage your medications:
-Store medications in a cool, dark dry place. Don't store them in a bathroom or anywhere else that's prone to moisture.
-Know which medications, including over-the-counter drugs, that shouldn't be taken at the same time.
-Always take medications the way your doctor tells you to, and for as long as he or she prescribes.
-Remind yourself to refill your prescriptions before you run out.
-To better track your medications, get them all filled at one pharmacy.
-Build a relationship with a pharmacist, and try to always consult with the same one. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
-Tell each of your doctors about every medication you take, including any over-the-counter and herbal remedies.
-Don't suffer through side effects. Speak with your doctor about potential ways to prevent them.
-Don't split or crush any medication unless your pharmacist says it's OK; it can affect the way the medication works.
Be prepared for temptation. Many dieters' weight-loss efforts are derailed when they attend a holiday party, wedding, or other special event that involves delicious food and beverages. If you're heading to an event where you expect to be tempted, make sure you go into it with a strategy. Tell yourself that you'll stop after one glass of wine or you'll watch your portions. If you don’t have a plan, it's easy to lose control quickly.

REUTIMANN WIN HIS 1ST RACE, VIRGINIA HAS TO GO OUT WEST
David Reutimann won 1st career Sprint Cup race yesterday at Charlotte in a rain shortened race when all off the contenders made a pit stop and he stayed it out to pick up the win for Michael Waltrip Motorsports. Next week they will race in Dover, Delaware. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team for the 2nd year in a row will have to travel out west for the NCAA baseball tournament. The Cavaliers will face San Diego State on Friday night who have a pitcher who may be taken #1 in this MLB draft, he is 13-0 with a 1.24 ERA and has struck 180 batters while only walking 18 and has been clocked at over 100 mph several times. Also in UVA's bracket are Fresno State and Cal Irvin, ESPN and College Baseball America say they are in the toughest bracket in the tournament. The Thomas Dale baseball team will face Lee-Davis at home today in the Central Regional playoffs, I am going to go to this game if it doesn't rain. Also from the CD Matoaca will be at Hanover tonight. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, VIRGINIA WINS THE ACC
I hope everybody has safe and happy Memorial Day and doesn't forgot the men and women serving around the world for our country so we can keep doing the things we do. Also don't forget those who served our country in the past that were injured or paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Virginia baseball team beat Florida State yesterday 6-3 to win the ACC baseball tournament, the Cavs will be on the road somewhere next weekend in NCAA baseball tournament as they were not selected as one of the 16 teams that will host a regional, the filed of 64 teams will be announced at 12:30pm today. In the NHL playoffs yesterday Detroit hammered Chicago 6-1 to take a 3-1 series lead, Pittsburgh can end there series with Carolina tomorrow. Helio Castroneves won yesterdays Indianapolis 500 holing off Dan Wheldon for the win. The Coca Cola 600 was rained out last night and they will run it at Noon today and the weather could still cause some problems because there is a 70% chance of rain today. It rained here in KDH as well yesterday afternoon. I will be heading back home sometime this afternoon to get ready for another week of work. MICKEY
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.
Robert Frost
Active Holidays
Plan an active vacation/holiday - learn a new sport or go walking in a beautiful area. That way you get fitter and don't put on weight.
Envy - Jealousy and discontent with what one has. Don’t envy anyone - wish them well.
Running. A common myth about running is that treadmill running puts less stress on your knees and joints than running on asphalt or pavement. It is the force of your body's weight on your joints that causes the stress, which is the same weather on treadmill or road surface. The best way to reduce impact is to vary workouts with elliptical machines, stationary bikes, treadmill and road running.
Drop the resentment
Resentment builds a strong connection between you and whatever or whomever you resent. Is that really what you want to do?
The time and energy that you devote to resentment will take away from other things you could be doing. Is resentment really how you wish to spend your precious resources?
Sure, you may not like whatever has happened, whatever brought up those feelings of resentment. Yet the sooner you move beyond it, the better off you'll be.
Stop punishing yourself for the thoughtlessness of someone else. Let it go, and let yourself move positively forward.
Take all that energy in your resentment, re-direct it, and make something valuable out of it. What's happened has happened, yet what will happen next is up to you.
Make the next moment one that will give you cause for grateful celebration. Drop the resentment, and get on with living your own unique joy.

VIRGINIA BEATS DUKE, I BIG DAY RACING WISE
The Virginia Cavalier baseball team beat Duke last night 11-7 and with the win will meat Florida State for the ACC Championship this afternoon in Raleigh. The Cavs were trailing 4-2 entering the top of the 7th inning but the Cavs scored 7 runs in the inning en route to the win. It looks like the Cavs will be hosting a regional when the NCAA baseball tournament starts next week. The Virginia lacrosse team didn't fair as well yesterday, they were beaten by Cornell 15-6. The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Carolina Hurricanes last night 6-2 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, it looks like Canes have just ran out of gas. Well it's going to be a very big day racing wise today, 1st the Indianapolis 500 and then the Coke 600 later today. I don't know if I am going to be able to stay up and watch the finish of race tonight, I didn't sleep very well at all last night. We ate at the Black Pelican last night and I have to say it was very good, I got the prime rib. We were going to eat at The Dunes today for lunch but they not open yet for lunch just breakfast, they have not completely finished remodeling yet. Well I am going down to Wal-Mart so I can be the crowd down there. MICKEY

VIRGINIA POUNDS UNC, I AM AT THE BEACH
The Virginia Cavalier baseball team pounded North Carolina 11-1 in the ACC baseball tournament, the Cavs will play Duke tonight and with a win will advance to tomorrows championship game against Florida State. The Cavs scored 10 runs in the 3rd inning on 9 hits and everybody in there lineup scored, hopefully they saved some of there offense for tonight. The Virginia lacrosse team will play Cornell in the semi finals today of NCAA lacrosse tournament, if the Cavs win they will face either Duke or Syracuse in the finals. The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Detroit Red Wings lat night 4-3 in OT, Chicago still trails in the series 2-1. Well I made it down to the beach last night, I thought there would be more traffic than it was but I guess allot of people decided not to travel this Memorial Day Weekend. My issue with a possible kidney stone has gone away for the time being, the pain just stopped yesterday morning. However I have a new issue, I pulled something in my right shoulder pumping gas yesterday afternoon, the piece on the handle that keeps you from having to hold it the whole time you are pumping the gas was broke which caused the problem. Maybe Scott will post some graduation photos laster today. MICKEY

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Okay, so we already know that Krispy Kreme isn't a health-food product, but even eaten as a treat they're a bit extreme.
The Krispy Kreme company ships cartons of doughnuts, doughnut holes, and honey buns to supermarkets each day. Inside is a collection of sugar-coated white flour that has been fried in vegetable shortening made with partially hydrogenated oil. What does some of the damage amount to?
The Original Glazed Doughnut has 3 grams of saturated fat plus 3-1/2 grams of trans fat.
The Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut has 5 grams of saturated fat plus 5 grams of trans fat.
The 310-calorie Honey Bun packs 5 grams of saturated fat plus 7 grams of trans.
The American Heart Association recommends that you eat less than 2 grams of trans fat in an entire day.
Krispy Kreme does say they plan to get rid of the trans fat in their goodies but their new pastries, which have recently started showing up in some areas, mostly replace the trans fat with saturated fat. Not good.
