HOPING FOR A BETTER DAY

I have to say that yesterday was a very long day for the most part. My day didn't get off to the best of starts when on the way to work they had a wreck on I-95 and I had to get off earlier than I like and had to take the long way to work. Then after that I had a terrible sinus headache most of the day which finally went away last night. Today I have to back to the oral surgeon for a checkup on my dental implant which may set me back a few more dollars. The Virginia baseball team is scheduled to play VMI tonight weather permitting, so its not looking to good for baseball. Speaking of baseball the Cincinnati Reds are in 1st place and are playing some pretty good baseball right now, hopefully the pitching staff will continue to hold up the rest of the year. The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will play its final game of the season on Thursday at home against Hopewell. The NHL playoffs resume tonight with Philadelphia and Chicago holding 1-0 series in there respective series. MICKEY

Cut the liquid calories. We’re talking about those sodas you down every day. Instead, try water or unsweetened tea. That alone can save you 15 pounds over a year. But if water’s too bland, try something healthy with reduced calories and sugar – such as Tropicana’s Trop 50. Half the sugar but all your daily dose of vitamin C.

Each man is the architect of his own fate. -Appius Claudius

INQUIRING MINDS WANTED TO KNOW
APPIUS CLAUDIUS
c.340 - c.273 BC
Roman Consul

Appius Claudius Caecus was a popular Roman politician.
He was a patrician who became the first politician to attempt to give landless workers a voice in the Roman senate. He also made legal information available to the lower classes by publishing a code for legal practices.

Appius Claudius organized the construction of the first paved Roman road, the 'Via Appia', and Rome's first aqueduct.

In his last years he made a speech exhorting the Romans not to make peace with the invader Pyrrhus. This speech was the first Latin oratory preserved for future generations and laid the foundation for Latin prose composition.
