THE HEAT RETURNS
It looks like that we will have some of the hottest days of the summer over the next 4 or 5 days and the heat indexes will be over 100 starting on Friday and there is a very little chance of rain over that period. Here at the house they did a little painting yesterday and the house smells like new paint which is much better than varnish they put on the wood floors last week. They were suppose to start working on the new kitchen floor today but some of the material came in damaged so there will be a little bit of delay on that. I had another bad of sleep last night, I woke up about 1:30am with a mosquito bite of all things on my leg and I just tossed and turned until I got up at 5:50pm. I wasn't able to find the mosquito so he could be still lurking in my room somewhere. Mom is still working on the old computer here in CH but so far she hasn't had any luck with it, I think it may have just played out. My right shoulder is a bit sore today so my AIP had been elevated a bit. MICKEY
I never worry about action, but only inaction.
Winston Churchill
1873 - The first cable streetcar in America began operation on Clay Street Hill in San Francisco, CA.
1893 - Henry Perky and William Ford of Watertown, NY woke up early and found their patent sitting on the breakfast table. They had invented shredded wheat. Pass the bananas and milk, please...
1942 - The American Federation of Musicians went on strike. Union president James C. Petrillo told musicians that phonograph records were “a threat to members’ jobs.” As a result, musicians refused to perform in recording sessions over the next several months. Live, musical radio broadcasts continued, however.
1950 - Pitcher Curt Simmons of the Philadelphia Phillies became the first major-league baseball player to be called to active military duty during the Korean War.
1958 - After 26 years at 3 cents, the cost of mailing a first-class letter in the United States went up a penny.
Get Back Up
You cannot prevent every setback. However, you can make it a priority to recover quickly from them and get back on track. In every effort there will be interruptions, disappointments, even some disasters.
Your recovery time depends largely on what you decide to make it. The time and energy you put into anger and self pity will serve mainly to prolong the time it takes to get going again.
Accept that the setbacks will come and when they do, decide to move quickly past them. Find something positive in each one, and that will serve to get you focused again on progressing toward your goal.
Winners and losers both stumble. The winners are the ones who quickly get back up and keep on going.
