RIDDLE

It's the weekend and it looks iike it will be a good one. I think Mickey is going to drive the truck to the beach. I hope they asked Melanie to feed Miss Kitty.

Glenn got the riddle right yesterday. I was pleased with all the comments yesterday. I thought Bobby would get the riddle because beets are not his favorite vegetable.

ANSWER:

What vegetable has the best rhythm.

BEETS

TODAY'S RIDDLE:

What goes through the water but never gets wet?

Enjoy the video I took on the beach yesterday. Al, Donna, and Mickey will get to see the ocean in person with Bobby and me. I think the weather is going to be great.

Have a good weekend. I will enjoy because after next week I will have to come home and try to figure out where to put my furniture. I don't want mess up my new hardwood floor.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS & CRAWFORD COUNTY OPEN UP THERE FOOTBALL SEASONS TONIGHT

The Colonial Heights Colonials & the Crawford County Eagles will open up there football seasons tonight both at home. The Colonials will play host to the Thomas Jefferson while Crawford County will play host to ther arch rivals Taylor County. Last night in CD high school football action it was Manchester 35 Thomas Dale 14, Matoaca 35 Henrico 16 and L.C. Bird beat Meadowbrook 18-12. Down at the beach tonight they will play the battle at the beach when Manteo visits First Flight, First Flight has never beat Manteo in football but allot of people think this year is the year. I went to the CH boys volleyball game last night in which the Colonials won 3 games to 2 over Patrick Henry, it was a pretty even game between the 2 teams. This week the Nascar Nextel & Busch Series are racing at the California Speedway. Don't forget to play the lottery tonight, it's worth a cool $330 million dollars. Tomorrow morning at this time I will be on my way to the beach for some R&R. It look like it is going to be little cool at the beach this weekend with high only in the low 80's. MICKEY

Prevent Cooking Fires
Kitchen stoves are a common source of fires in the home.

Here are guidelines to help prevent fires in the kitchen, courtesy of New York's Department of State:

* Never place dishrags, pot holders or towels on or near a burner.
* When cooking, don't wear loose-fitting clothing or reach across the stove.
* Don't use any aerosol spray cans near the stove.
* Never lean against the stove while it's in use.
* Don't use towels in place of pot holders.
* Never let children around a hot stove or stove top.
* Don't place items above the stove -- like candy or cookies -- that children may try to reach.

RIDDLE

Boy do I have a attitude because no one even guessed the riddle yesterday. Maybe I will cut the times I do the riddle to three times a week.

ANSWER:

What kind of drink will give you a black and blue face?

PUNCH

TODAY'S RIDDLE:

What vegetable has the best rhythm.

It is going to be a good beach day. There is not a lot of humidity around and the temperature will be in the low 80's.

OUT OF STEP

For some reason for about the last week when I have been running I seemed to be out of step, I can't find my groove & my rhythm seems to be a little off. I hope it returns soon, when I run like this it makes me not want to run for a while. There are several college football games tonight with the biggest on being LSU at Mississippi State on ESPN and locally Delaware at William & Mary, there are about 10 other games as well. Also tonight several Central District football teams open up there season with Manchester at Thomas Dale with fellow blogger Keith keeping the clock, Matoaca will be at Henrico and L.C. Bird will be at Meadowbrook. I am going to try to ge up to the high school tonight and see the CH volleyball game against Patrick Henry and then come home and watch some college football. I am still trying to get over Lee as a model, Melanie I hope you get a picture of this historical event so I can post it on the blog. Don't forget to buy you lottery ticket for Friday nights Mega Million lottery drawing. I think I am going to head to the beach Saturday morning. MICKEY

1682 - William Penn sailed from England. He later established the colony of Pennsylvania (which, as some of you may know, is now one of the United States) and now stands on top of City Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Not him, really, but a famous statue of him...

1965 - After 40 years in baseball, Casey Stengel announced his retirement.
1972 - President Nixon announced that John Dean had completed his investigation into the Watergate wiretapping debacle. And he added that no one from the White House was involved. Well, good. That takes care of that...
1974 - The Brady Bunch, a typical 1970s scrubbed-face American family sitcom which first aired on TV Sept. 26, 1969, came to an end on this day.

RIDDLE

I'm in a good mood so I'm going to give Al the credit for getting the riddle yesterday.

ANSWER:

Who takes longer to get ready for a trip-an elephant or a rooster?

The answer is the elephant because he has to pack his trunk and the rooster only has to pack a comb.

Al said the elelphant because its trunk was big? I gave it to him because he did try and that is more than the rest of you.

TODAY'S RIDDLE:

What kind of drink will give you a black and blue face?

I'm going to really do something today. I don't know what but something. Maybe run the vaccum. I'll think about that. I will go to the beach after yoga but after that I don't know.

I finished my 550 piece puzzle Monday night. I have another one with 1000 pieces and I know if I open it I will only want to put it together.

I'm glad Mickey moved the computer so when I get home that will be done. It's so much trouble to move because of all the cords. By the way Mickey would miss some of the stuff that is in the the drawer he wants me to clean out. What if I moved the pens and scissors.

NOBODY WINS LOTTERY

Well I didn't win the lottery last night and the good news is nobody else did either which means Fridays drawing will be worth an estimated $325 million dollars. I guess I will have to get a few more tickets to see if I can become a millionaire. The word that I am getting from the beach is that the Lone Cedar reopened last night & there was a pretty big crowd there. I guess I need to get down there before football season starts. Speaking of football there are several high school and college games Thursday night. I posted another video late last night in on the construction entry on the blog, the video shows the computer has been moved back to the old computer location instead of being in the corner. I also understand fellow blogger Bobby was seen hobnobbing with some big wheels of the school system yesterday at the high school, can anybody confirm this. They have done about all the can do the new room until the trusses come in, they are suppose to come by again and work on the hardwood floor again though. MICKEY

COMPUTER MOVED TO NEW LOCATION & DECK PHOTOS

Well we got the new computer moved to the spot where the old one was and I dissassembled the old one and it is now in several pieces. I shot a quick video of what was done but the lighting is a little dim but I think you get the picture. I have also enclose a few more photos from the deck outside. MICKEY

RIDDLE

No one tried to answer the riddle yesterday. Come on everybody make a guess.

ANSWER:

What comes from a tree and fights cavities?

Toothpicks

TODAY'S RIDDLE

Who takes longer to get ready for a trip-an elephant or a rooster?

It's going to be nice today at the beach. I am going to enjoy just resting today. I am going out for lunch with one of my yoga friends and that is all I have planned to do. That's what is so good about being retired I can just relax.

BIG JACKPOT TONIGHT

There is a very big jackpot in tonight Mega Millions lottery, I have already got my tickets for tonights drawing which is worth an estimated $250 million dollars. If there is no new post in the morning on Mickey's Place it probably does mean that I hit the jackpot. There was at least one teacher that stayed extra hours an Tussing yesterday, I guess she was so happy to be back at school that she didn't want to leave. East Carolina already almost facing an up hill battle at Virginia Tech on Saturday now will have to do it without it's starting QB who was arrested Saturday night for a DUI, thats just plain stupid on his part. I pulled something in my right shoulder yesterday at work & it it quite sore this morning, I think I might be just falling apart. I have posted another photo of the day that I got of the AP wire of bird with his lunch. They are coming by again today to put another coat of shine on the hardwood floors & to do some more on the new room. MICKEY
