COLONIALS BACK ON THE ROAD TONIGHT

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be back on the road tonight at Medowbrook at 6pm. The Colonials enter the game at 5-2 in the CD and 8-5 overall. In other CD baseball games today Thomas Dale will be at Hopewell, Matoaca will be Petersburg and Dinwiddie will be at Hopewell. The CH girls and boys soccer teams and softball team will also be at Meadowbrook as well tonight. Since the blog has been pretty dead the last few days I figured that I would bring out an old photo from the past of me playing in the snow from from early years. Also my AIP has rose overnight after throwing yesterday, I have to many AIP to metion them all. Keith give us an update on Andrew's game from last night. MICKEY

VIRGINIA BACK IN 2ND PLACE

The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team didn't stay in 1st place long as the Cavs fell to Clemson 2-1 and UNC knocked of Florida State putting them back in 1st place by a few % points. Virginia will play James Madison Wednesday at home before welcoming the Maryland Terrapins to town next weekend. Andrew's LL team fell in LL action yesterday to the Reds in make up game from there rain out opening day, his LL team will play there 3rd game in in four days tonight when they play the Braves at 6pm. I didn't do to much of anything yesterday, I did go to Me Ma Ruth's house at lunch time and then I watched the Braves come from behind to beat the Mets. The Colonials baseball team will play at Meadowbrook Tuesday before returning home Thursday night to play Thomas Dale, both games have a 6pm start time. It looks like the weather will be ok for Tuesdays game but there is a chance of rain showers Thursday. The New York Rangers will meet the Buffalo Sabres in the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs staring later this week. MICKEY

VIRGINIA BACK IN FIRST PLACE, VIRGINIA STATE WINS CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP

The Virginia Cavalier baseball team beat Clemson 3-0 on Saturday in another close ACC game at Clemson and with UNC's loss to Florida State 5-4 the Cavaliers are now back in first place in the Coastal Division of the ACC. It appears that Florida State is the class of the field in the ACC though they only have 2 conference losses and the next closest team to them is UVA with six losses. The Cavaliers will go for the sweep of Clemson this afternoon. The Virginia State Trojans defeated the Shaw Bears 14-7 to win the CIAA baseball championship and by doing so will move on to the NCAA Division II baseball playoffs next month. Andrew Holt was named the the tournaments MVP hitting .580 and driving in 10 runs in the tournament and both he and Jeff Shelton were named to the all tournament team. VSU does have a few more regular season games to play before they go to the Div II playoffs. Andrew's LL team picked up a 5-3 victory over the Cubs yesterday, I did see some of this game before heading over to VSU. Andrew's team will be back in action MOnday night at 6pm against the Braves at Ironbridge. Jeff Gordon won last night Nextel Cup race at Phoenix and by doing so tied Dale Earnhardt on the all time win list at 76, next week the will race at the always exciting Talladega Speedway. My AIP index has been elevated today because my back is very sore from standing so much at Andrew's LL game and at the VSU game. MICKEY

IT LOOKS LIKE BASEBALL WEATHER IS HERE TO STAY

It looks like the up and down temperatures from the past few months will be gone as a warm weather pattern has set up. The temperatures starting today and running through next week should be in the upper 70's to the low to mid 80's which is goo baseball weather, finally some nice weather for baseball. Speaking of baseball Andrew's LL team will be back in action today at noon at Ironbridge Park when they face the Cubs, yes this the same Cub team which beat them Thursday so they will be trying to even up the series today. In college baseball action yesterday the Virginia State Trojans advanced to the championship game of the CIAA today when they will play the Shaw Bears for the title. Former Colonial Andrew Holt hit a two-run walk off HR to give the Trojans a 7-5 victory over Shaw yesterday and another former Colonial Jeff Shelton had given the Trojans the lead in the bottom of the 8th on his own two-run HR but Shaw tied it in the top of the 9th setting the stage Holt's HR to win it. The Virginia Cavaliers picked up a big ACC win yesterday at Clemson beating the Tigers 5-3, the Cavs need to keep winning keep pace with UNC which is in 1st place by a few % points over the Cavs. Clint Boyer won last nights Busch race at Phoenix, Jeff Gordon will lead the field to the green flag tonight at Phoenix in the Nextel Cup race. COLONIALS COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT MATOACA

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball erased a 5-2 deficit in the top of the 7th inning last night to defeat Matoaca 9-5. The Colonials scores 7 runs in the top of the 7th to pick 9-5 victory in CD action last night. Brett Draper went the distance on the mound last night just allowing 6 hits and the Colonial defense made several great defensive plays behind him in the field as well. Offensively Kenny Stoneback at had 3 hits for the Colonials and 3 Rbi's as well and Andrew Fontaine added two hits for the Colonials. I didn't get to see the end of the game from the dugout, I was ejected from the game in the bottom of the 6th inning after a disagreement with the umpire. I have to say the team played very inspired after I got ejected, but I was very frustrated over several calls that the umpires made that had costs us runs and I was mad. In other CD games yesterday Prince George beat Thomas Dale 12-2 and Hopewell beat Maedowbrook 5-2. The CH girls soccer team won 6-2 while the boys team fell 4-0 to Matoaca and the girls softball team lost 12-9 to Matoaca. The UVA baseball team opens a three game series tonight at Clemson, the Tigers are ranked 13 in the country. The Nascar Nextel Cup series is at Phoenix this weekend. Also on Saturday Andrews LL team will be back in action 12 noon at Ironbridge. My AIP index today is quite lower today because of our win lat night. MICKEY
