COLONIALS & RENEGADES WIN, IT IS FREEZING HERE IN COLONIAL HEIGHTS

The Colonial Heights Colonials picked up it's Central District of the win of the season last night knocking off the Matoaca Warriors 56-53 at home. I did go to the game and it was good one, neither team lead by more than 7 points all night and there even were a few technical fouls handed out as well. The Colonials are now off until next Friday night when the travel to Prince George. The VCU Rams have big game this afternoon when the Old Dominion Monarchs visit the Seigel Center, the Rams have been playing very well lately. The Richmond Renegades picked up another road victory last night beating the Knoxville Ice Bears 6-5 in OT, the Gades return to home ice tonight when the Twin City Cyclones visit the Richmond Coliseum. I almost froze to death this morning getting out the car at Wal-Mart and getting to the front door of the store, it was a very cold 6.3 this morning here in Colonial Heights. I hate cold weather and I am ready for Spring & Summer. I almost forgot to mention my PAIN index is up this this morning by because my finger is hurting from opening the cats can food this week, those pop tops on those cans are not good on the fingers. Progress is man's ability to complicate simplicity.

Kindness and courtesy can make an average person superior; indifference and lack of concern can make a superior person average.

Play Beat the Clock
I love doing this when I'm running an out-and-back route. Begin timing your run as soon as you start. At your turnaround point, hit the split button on your running watch/timer, or just take note of your time. Try increasing your pace on the way back, with the goal of beating your time for the first half.

Great fortune
Remind yourself often of how fortunate you are. The more you realize and recall your good fortune, the more good and valuable things you can do with it.
Your true fortune has little to do with the size of your bank account or your material assets. The greatest fortune you have is life itself, and the opportunity to live each moment with awareness and effectiveness.

There is endless fortune in your ability to choose what to do with each moment. There is limitless fortune in your capacity to feel love, awe, compassion, gratitude and pure joy.

Spend some time each day thinking about how truly fortunate you are. Let the warm feeling of that magnificent fortune permeate your awareness.

Your very existence has such great and irreplaceable value that it's impossible to even imagine the full extent of it. Resolve today to make good use of all that value.

The great fortune of your life is here and now. Live it with joy and meaning.
-- Ralph Marston

VIRGINIA HITS ROCK BOTTOM, ECU & GEORGIA BOTH FALL

It sure wasn't a good day for the college football teams that I root for yesterday. First off if Virginia could get any lower I don't know how, they lost to a team that hadn't won a game in the ACC since 2004 and they loss 31-3 no less. This game was actually tied at 3-3 at halftime and UVA gave up 28 unanswered points in the 2nd half to Duke and the UVA offense may be the worst in country, I don't see them winning another game this year. They just look like a team that is playing with no heart in my opinion. I went to the East Carolina game yesterday and the Pirate defense gives up 621 yards total offense to Houston and the Pirates lose 41-24 and I have to tell you this game was totally dominated by Houston. The ECU play calling yesterday left a lot to be desired thats for sure and the Pirate faithful sure were letting the coaches no there opinion about it. The ECU offense sure didn't to the ECU defense any favors either, the defense was on the field way to much yesterday. Then I figure that Georgia will beat Alabama for sure last night and we turn the XM radio on and at the half Georgia is losing 31-0 to Alabama in Athens no less. The Bulldogs tried to make a 2nd half comeback but came up short in falling to Alabama 41-30. Then to top it all off Virginia Tech beats Nebraska 35-30 to end my day, it also was a very tough day for Clemson, Wake Forest and Florida. Today in the NFL the Green Bay Packers will be in Tampa to face the Buccaneers and the Redskins will will be in Dallas to face the undefeated Dallas Cowboys. In a high school football game of note yesterday Petersburg improved to 4-0 with a 42-7 win over Hopewell. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at the Kansas Speedway this afternoon for race 3 in the chase, Denny Hamlin won yesterdays Nationwide Race. Just in case anybody wants to know my PAIN index is up this morning just because of what my college football teams did yesterday. The Mickey's Place college football pick em contest will be updated soon. MICKEY

I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter. Walt Disney
