OPENING DAY IN THE MAJOR LEAGUE, IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A COUPLE OF MORE RAINOUTS

Well today is Opening Day in Major League Baseball with 6 games scheduled today with the rest of the league opening up there seasons over the next 2 days.  My favorite 2 teams will be in action today, the Reds will be at home against the Brewers while Braves will be on the road in Washington a game which could be rained out.  Speaking of rain outs it looks like the Colonials baseball team will have two more the next 2 days, we are scheduled to play Prince George tonight at home and we are scheduled to travel to Hopewell  tomorrow.  The extended forecast is calling for several days next week as well which doesn't fair to well for our baseball schedule.  I just wish some Spring like temps will come in here and stay for a while.  MICKEY

COLONIALS FALL AT DINWIDDIE, VIRGINIA PITCHER THROWS PERFECT GAME

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team lost on the road last night at Dinwiddie 7-3.  The Colonials fell behind early in the game and just could never recover in the loss.  The Colonials are scheduled to play 2 more games this week but with all the rain that is expected things aren't looking to good for that.  The Virginia baseball team pick up another win yesterday knocking off George Washington 2-0, Virginia pitcher Will Roberts pitched perfect game which was the 1st in the history of the baseball program.  Also in the CD yesterday Matoaca beat Prince George and Meadowbrook beat Hopewell.  Looking at the weather forecast it looks like it is going to rain for the next 3 days.  MICKEY

IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL PLAY TONIGHT

After getting postponed for the 3rd straight time yesterday it appears the Colonials will finally return to the baseball field tonight at Dinwiddie before the rains return tomorrow and pretty much the rest of the week.  We are suppose to play home against Prince George on Thursday and on the road at Hopewell on Friday but those games are not looking to good right now.  Also with 4 games already on the schedule for next week it appears that some non district games may have to be dropped if the rain doesn't stop soon.  The Virginia baseball team return to the filed today against George Washington, this weekend the Cavs will travel over to Virginia Tech for a 3 game series.  The Cavs are either #1 or #2 in most polls now.  I sure wish Spring would return soon, I am tired of all this rain and cold temps.  MICKEY

FINAL 4 NOW SET, A BUSY WORK FOR THE COLONIALS

Well this years Final Four is now set with VCU & Kentucky joining Butler & UCONN in Houston next weekend.  The VCU Rams jumped on Kansas in the 1st half yesterday building an 18 point lead before Kansas made a run back at the Rams but were never able to coma all the way back and the Rams pulled away at the end and came away with 71-61 win.  There sure were allot of people who doubted how the Rams even got into the field but they sure are proven that they belong, the Rams will face Butler next Saturday.  The Kentucky Wildcats knocked off the North Carolina Tar Heels 71-69 in the other game yesterday and will face UCONN next Saturday.  It is going to be a very busy week for the Colonials baseball team with 3 games in 4 days starting tonight at L.C. Bird, then Tuesday night at Dinwiddie before returning home Thursday night to face Prince George.  There are several chances of rain this week as well which could throw another wrench into this years schedule plus it is going to be pretty cold as well.  Kevin Harvick picked up his 1st win of the season yesterday at California passing Jimmie Johnson on the final lap to pick of the win, next week they will head to the Martinsville Speedway.  Kurt Busch lead Carl Edwards by 1 point in the standings with teammates Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman 12 points pack.  Also yesterday was another record day on Mickey's Place with 355 visitors.  MICKEY

VCU HEADING TO THE FINAL 4

The VCU Rams stunned the Kansas Jayhawks 71-61 and are heading to the Final Four next weekend in Houston where the will face the Butler Bulldogs next Saturday. After Fridays game with Richmond several players on the Kansas team said they din't know where Richmond was, well I guess they know where it is now. MICKEY

VCU LOOKS TO UPSET KANSAS AND HEAD TO THE FINAL FOUR, VIRGINIA SWEEPS MARYLAND

The VCU Rams will be looking to upset the Kansas Jayhawks this afternoon at 2:20pm in San Antonio and head to Final Four.  The Rams will need to play much better than they did on Friday night to upset the 35-2 Jayhawks, the Rams cannot afford to fall to far behind early or it will be a long afternoon.  In the other game today North Carolina will face Kentucky.  In the tournament yesterday Butler upset Florida in OT 74-71 and UCONN beat Arizona 65-63.  The winner of today VCU vs Kansas game will face Butler & the winner of the UNC vs Kentucky game will face UCONN.  The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team completed there sweep of the Maryland Terrapins yesterday knocking off the Terps twice yesterday by the score of 4-2 in both games, with the win the Cavs are now 24-2 overall and 8-1 in the ACC.  Kyle Busch continued his Nascar domination yesterday winning the Nationwide race at the California Speedway, if I was a betting man I take him again today.  Who would have thought the VCU Rams great run in the NCAA Tournament would give me my greatest number of hits in the history of Mickey's Place, yesterday there were 207 different visitors from 5 different countries and 106 different cities.  I usually only have about 20-35 visitors a day so 207 is like a shock to Mickey's Place.  MICKEY

VCU BEATS FLORIDA STATE & WILL FACE KANSAS IN THE ELITE 8

The VCU Rams beat the Florida State Seminoles last night 72-71 in OT last night to advance to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Basketball Tournament where the will face the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday.  In a game that VCU lead at the half by 5 at the half the Seminoles where able to tie it in and send it to OT before the Rams where able to pull out a 1point victory.  The Rams will now play Kansas who dominated the other team from the City of Richmond the Richmond Spiders 77-57, the Spiders simply where never in this game with the Jayhawks.  Kansas just came to play and didn't take any names.  For the Rams to beat Kansas they are going to have to play better than they did last night thats for sure, the Rams bench is much deeper than the Spiders but it is going to be a very tough task for the Rams pull out a win over Kansas.  In the other two games last night North Carolina pounded Marquette and Kentucky knocked of allot peoples pick to win it all Ohio State.  Today Butler will face Florida and Arizona will face UCONN with both winners advancing to Final Four.  In college baseball action yesterday the Virginia Cavaliers beat Maryland 14-1, the Cavs will face Maryland twice today trying to beat the impending inclement weather predicted for Sunday.  Well we were scheduled to make up our game with Hopewell yesterday however there field was still unplayable and we were going to move the game to Shepherd Stadium but there were some more problems with use of the field we were unable to play again there yesterday, that seems to an ongoing theme up there right now.  We are scheduled to play Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week and with tomorrows impending rain it looks like we are going to have a scheduling nightmare in the next few weeks which could leave some non district games in limbo.  Juan Pablo Montoya captured the pole for this weekends race at Fontana edging Denny Hamlin for the top spot, the Nationwide Series will run there today.  MICKEY

BASEBALL GAME MOVED TILL TONIGHT, RICHMOND & VCU PLAY TONIGHT

Well our baseball game with Hopewell was rained out last night and will be played at Hopewell tonight at 6pm and I have to say if you are coming to the game it is going to be a bit on the cool side.  The Virginia baseball team opens up a 3 game series with Maryland at home today and with the chance of rain this weekend the schedule could be altered a bit to where a doubleheader my be played 1 day.  The Richmond Spiders and the VCU Rams will be looking to move on to the Elite 8 with a win tonight, the Spiders will face the Kansas Jayhawks while the Rams will face the Florida State Seminoles.  Last might in the NCAA Tournament the Duke Blue Devils where knocked off by the Arizona Wildcats 93-77 sending all the Dukies home upset.  Also moving on last night was Florida, Butler and UCONN.  The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be racing at the California Speedway this weekend in Fontana.  MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL, DISTRICT PLAY STARTS TONIGHT, CAVS WIN AGAIN

Well today is fellow blogger Al Goulder's birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL. The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team opens up Central District play tonight at 6pm at Hopewell weather permitting.  With all the rain we got with those t-storms last night after 8pm it just might be to we today at Hopewell. hopefully not but I guess we just have to wait and see.  The Virginia baseball team shutout Towson again yesterday this time 5-0 and with the win outscored Towson 11-0 in there 2 midweek games, the Cavs will now get ready for there weekend series with Maryland.  Also after todays mild temps the temps are going to struggle to get out of the 40's several of the next 5 days, where is Spring.  Also the NCAA basketball tournament resumes tonight however both VCU & Richmond don't play until tomorrow night.  I am feeling quite a bit better this morning but I am only at about 63%.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN A CLOSE ONE, VIRGINIA WINS AGAIN, I AM OUT WITH KIDNEY STONES

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team picked up 3-2 win over Trinity yesterday at Shepherd Stadium.  The Colonials jumped out to quick 1-0 lead in the 1st inning yesterday and that score held up until the top of the 6th inning when Trinity was able to push 2 unearned runs across the plate but the Colonials answered with 2 runs of there own in the bottom of the 6th and held on for the win.  The only downside I saw in the win was that we committed 5 errors in the game.  The Colonials will start a 3 game road trip tomorrow night at Hopewell at 6pm.  The Virginia baseball team picked up another win yesterday beating the Towson Tigers 6-0, the Cavs will face Towson again today before playing a 3 game series with Maryland at home this weekend.  Well my kidney stones are bothering me this morning so I am not going to work today and I am going to try to get another appointment this morning with my Urologist, the pain has been quite severe since last night and I am sure glad that I had some pain pills but they only last for about 4 hours.  MICKEY

COLONIALS BACK IN ACTION, BUSIEST DAY EVER ON THE BLOG

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be back in action at home tonight at 5pm against Trinity Episcopal weather permitting, with last night t-storm after 8pm and the chance of more rain today there is chance that the filed could be to wet.  The Virginia baseball team will be back in action today and tomorrow against Towson at home, the Cavs will be looking to rebound from Sundays loss to Florida State.  Well yesterday was the busiest day in the history of Mickey's Place with 109 visitors which cam from 4 different countries and 57 different cities.  The reason for the spike in visitors to Mickey's Place appears to be name recognition with the VCU Rams and the Richmond Spiders who are doing very well in the NCAA basketball tournament.  I just heard the weatherman give the forecast on tv this morning and it appears that he has no clue of what it is going to do for the next 7 days because there is front that may stall in the area which is very hard to predict, he says it may rain this weekend but it may not.  If thats all you have to say to predict the weather I think I can do it.  MICKEY

VCU JOINS RICHMOND IN SWEET 16

The VCU Rams dismantled the Purdue Boilermakers defense last in a 94-76 win over Purdue in Chicago last night.  The Rams lead by 10 at the half and pulled away in the 2nd when the Boilermakers had n answer for the Rams offense.  With the win the Rams move on the Sweet 16 where they will face Florida State who upset Notre Dame last night.  The other team from the CAA George Mason got pounded by Ohio State 98-66 and the Richmond Spiders found out that they will face Kansas in the next round.  If both VCU and Richmond both when there next game they will face each other with the winner moving on to Final Four, again I thin of the teams from the City of Richmond will win but nor both on Friday night.  The Virginia baseball team rallied to tie the game in the 9th against Florida State but lost in the 10th to the Seminoles 12-11, evidently both pitching staffs were tire yesterday.  Well Mr. Bristol Kyle Busch won yesterdays race at Bristol holding off Carl Edwards for the win and with the win has won 5 straight Nascar events at the track, Tony Stewart & Kurt Busch are tied for the points lead.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA WINS IN EXTRA INNINGS AGAIN, RICHMOND MOVES TO THE SWEET 16

The Virginia Baseball team picked up another win yesterday over Florida State in extra innings this time by the core 5-4.  Trailing for 4-3 going into the bottom of the 9th the Cavs were able to push across 1 run to to tie the game and went on to win it on walk of HR by pinch hitter Jared King.  The Cavs will go for the sweep this afternoon at 1pm.  The Richmond Spiders beat Morehead State yesterday 65-48 to move on to the sweet 16 where they will face the winner of tonight Kansas vs Illinois game.  Well today 2 more teams from Virginia will be looking to move on to the sweet 16, VCU will play Purdue and George Mason will face Ohio State.  I think one team from the CAA will move on to the sweet 16 but I don't which team it will be, I hope both do but I think that might be asking to much.  Kyle Busch won yesterdays Nationwide race at Bristol again, the win was Kyle's 4th win in a row in 3 different series at the track and I have to say I wouldn't bet against him again today either.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA TAKES GAME 1, VCU & GEORGE MASON WIN

The Virginia Cavaliers took game 1 of there 3 game series with the Florida Sate Seminoles last night 4-3 in 11 innings, the Cavs trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning before scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th and winning it in the 11th.  The Cavs and Seminoles will play game 2 today at 1pm at Davenport Field.  Last night in the NCAA Basketball Tournament the VCU Rams blew out the Georgetown Hoyas 74-56, the Rams played the best game they played all year in routing Georgetown, the Rams will have another tough task tomorrow when they play Purdue.  Also yesterday the George Mason Patriots also from the CAA knocked off Villanova 61-57, the Patriots will face the Ohio State tomorrow.  The Richmond Spiders will face the Morehead St. Eagles today with the winner moving on to the sweet 16, this will be a battle of the #12 & #13 seeds in there bracket.  Carl Edwards captured the pole for this weekends race at Bristol edging out is Roush Racing teammate Greg Biffle for the top spot.  Well I have to say to say we had a pretty good practice at the stadium yesterday and ball was sure flying out the yard thats for sure and my arm felt as good as it has all year.  MICKEY

Pasta is the ultimate pre-workout meal
For endurance athletes, there may be some benefit to the idea of carb loading. With that recognition, carb loading has been misinterpreted as requiring the need for large amounts of carbohyrates in the meal eaten before exercise. Pasta is the most frequent culprit. Most men have fully depleted their body's carbohydrate stores through the foods they eat throughout the rest of the day. Overeating pasta does little in the way of providing energy and likely leads to fat storage. Carbohydrates can also cause people to feel tired. A better meal option would be a balance of lean protein (like turkey, ham, fish, chicken, and lean beef), whole-grain products (such as quinoa) and vegetables. This provides a wider range of nutrients and gives your body the fuel it needs to perform optimally.

The VCU Rams will be back in action tonight against the Georgetown Hoyas tonight in the NCAA basketball tournament, the Rams will need to play a bit better than they did against USC but I think they will have a shot to win tonight.  The Richmond Sipders advanced to the 2nd round of the Tournament after beating Vanderbilt 69-66, meanwhile the ODU Monarchs lost at the buzzer to Butler 60-58.  Also in the NCAA tournament today George Mason will face Villanova and Hampton will face the North Carolina Tar Heels.  The Virginia baseball team will begin a big ACC series tonight against the Florida State Seminoles at home.  The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be at Bristol this weekend for some white knuckle racing.  Well we weren't able to get on the filed again yesterday at the stadium, if they would just try to get the filed ready it sure would help.  The  field hasn't been touched since we played on it Tuesday.  MICKEY

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Well I hope everybody has a very nice St. Patrick's Day.  The VCU Rams are moving on to the field of 64 in the NCAA basketball tournament knocking of the USC Trojans last night 59-46, after playing a very close first half the Rams pulled away in the 2nd half and will face Georgetown next.  The Old Dominion Monarchs will face the Butler Bulldogs today and the Richmond Spiders will face Vanderbilt today as well.  The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team improved to 17-1 on the season yesterday beating James Madison 7-3, next up for the Cavs is a weekend series with the Florida State Seminoles.  Well hopefully we will able to get back on the field today at the stadium, while everybody who had games yesterday played because of the rain we had after Tuesdays game the stadium was off limits again.  We might have to move all our practices to the high school field soon if not I don't think we will be able to practice anymore, by the way the AAU tournament I talked about a few weeks ago is this weekend and they are going to play about 12 game on the field in about 2 days.  I guess its ok for out of towner's to tear the field up but it's not ok for the citizens of the city to use the field, there is something wrong with that picture.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN OPENER

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team opened the season up yesterday with a 18-4 win over Fredricksburg Christian on a very cool evening a Shepherd Stadium.  I thought we pitched very well yesterday, hit the ball ok but played very sloppy on defense on numerous occasions.  Hopefully we will be able to correct those problems before our next game next Tuesday against Trinity.  The Virginia baseball team will be back in action today against James Madison.  Tonight in the NCAA basketball tournament the VCU Rams will play USC in Dayton, Ohio in play in game with the winner moving on to face Georgetown.  After some more rain today it looks like some very nice weather will be heading into this weekend with temps heading into 70's for a few days.  MICKEY

OPENING DAY

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will open up season today at home at 5pm against Fredricksburg Christian.  Hopefully the rain will hold off until after the game, its going to be a bit on the cool side but if you don't have anything why not come out to the game.  Well after today cool temps in the 50's the rest of the week is going to be in the 60's & 70's and it might even make it to 80 on Friday which sounds good to me.  The Thomas Dale baseball team opened up it season yesterday with a 9-7 win over L.C. Bird.  Today's Virginia college baseball game with James Madison has been moved until tomorrow.  Well I am off to work.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA SWEEPS CLEMSON, 5 VIRGINIA TEAMS MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team completed the sweep of the Clemson Tigers yesterday in Clemson, South Carolina yesterday knocking off the Tigers 7-6.  After getting a great pitching performance Friday the Cavs offense had to carry the team the past 2 days, next up for the Cavs is a mid week game with James Madison.  Well 5 teams from the state of Virginia made the NCAA basketball tournament and they are Richmond, VCU, George Mason, Old Dominion & Hampton.  I have to say I was quite surprised that VCU got in and Virginia Tech did not get in, that is a bit of a head scratcher for sure. Well I tried all day yesterday to renew my vehicle registration yesterday online to no eval, apparently they were having some type of technical problem all day which seems to be happening on a regular basis lately.  MICKEY

I HOPE EVERYBODY IS ON TIME TODAY, VIRGINIA WINS

Well I hope everybody set there clocks ahead an hour before they went to sleep last night if not you are going to be hour behind all day.  I sure am glad that daylight savings time has started because I really like the daylight each day.  The Virginia baseball team had to rally from 3 runs down in the top of the 8th inning yesterday to pull out a 8-7 win over the Tigers yesterday, the Cavs will go for the sweep of the Tigers this afternoon.  Well the will set the field for this years NCAA basketball Tournament tonight and it looks like Virginia will be well represented in this years tournament, with Old Dominion and Hampton already in it looks like George Mason and Richmond will also get in and I have to say Virginia Tech has a pretty good shot to get in as well.  Well the weather forecast is not looking to good for Tuesdays opening day for our baseball season, there is now a 50% chance of rain both Tuesday & Wednesday and with the already wet field conditions thing aren't looking good.  On the bright weather today looks like it is going to be a very nice day with a temp of around 70 expected, I am probably going to run outside today.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA TAKES GAME 1 AGAINST CLEMSON

The Virginia baseball team picked up a 5-0 win over the Clemson Tigers in game 1 of there 3 game weekend series yesterday.  Virginia ace Danny Hultzen picked up the win and is now 4-0 on the young season and his 50 strikeouts in just 27 inning with an ERA of just 0.66.  The Cavs and Tigers will play game 2 of there series this afternoon.  Well the Colonials baseball team had to practice in there home away from home again last night at the Vo. Tech Center, its a good thing we have that cage to go to this year because we have been in there more than we have been on the filed at the stadium.  There are no Nascar races this weekend, I guess the team needed a week of to regroup.  Well it looks like we our going to have a Chamber of Commerce weather weekend here in the Heights with highs in the upper 60's the next 2 days before dropping back into the low 50's Monday and Tuesday.  Don't forget to set your clocks forward 1 hour before you go to bed tonight because daylight savings time begins tonight.  MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, VIRGINIA FALLS APART

Well today is Moms birthday and she is ?? years old today, you didn't actually think I was going to tell you old she was did you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM.  The Virginia Cavaliers blew a 10 point lead in the final 10 seconds of the game against Miami and fell to the Hurricanes 69-62 in OT in the 1st round of the ACC basketball tournament.  The Cavs simply just fell apart just like they did in the regular season against Miami, free throws are like walks, there tough to overcome.  The Virginia baseball team opens up ACC play today on the road at #8 Clemson in a battle of 2 teams in the top 10 in the country, this weekend series will be a big test for the Cavaliers.  Well after yesterdays rian I don't think we will be back on the baseball field until at least Monday if then, hopefully the win and the sun will dry it it out over the next 3 days.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA IN ACC TOURNAMENT TODAY, SCRIMMAGE GOES WELL

The Virginia basketball team will face Miami today at Noon in the 1st day of the ACC basketball Tournament in Greensboro, NC.  The Cavs will be looking to move on to the 2nd round where they will face the #1 seed North Carolina.  It looks like it is going to be a rainy day for the most part today with a chance of some severe weather later today when a cold front come thru.  Well our baseball team had its final scrimmage last night and after pretty close start we were able to break things open late in the scrimmage, our pitchers did improve on there 1st effort but still walked to many people for my liking.  Offensively we continued to hit the ball pretty well for the most part but I would like to see us cut down on the number of strikeouts we had.  Well we will start playing for real next Tuesday at 5pm against Fredricksburg Christian.  MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT, VIRGINIA WINS AGAIN

Well today is fellow bloggers Scott Woodfin's 44th birthday, Happy Birthday Scott are you going to be working on your birthday?   The Virginia baseball team won a pitchers dual yesterday in Charlottesville beating the Marshall Thundering Hurd 1-0, the only run the Cavs scored was on a sacrifice fly.  This weekend the Cavs will travel down to South Carolina to face Clemson in a 3 game series, by the way the Cavs have not hit a HR all year.  Well we are scheduled to have our 2nd baseball scrimmage of the year today at 5pm against Park View South Hill weather permitting and I have to say it's not looking to good right now, hopefully the rain will hold off because I doubt we will be able to get on the field the rest of the week.  Speaking of the weather they are calling for over 2 inches of rain from this storm before it ends late tomorrow night.  MICKEY

ANOTHER GOOD DAY FOR THE CAVALIERS

Well yesterday was another good day to be a Virginia Cavaliers fan as the baseball team picked up 2 more wins and the basketball team won on the road at Maryland as well.  The baseball team improved to 12-1 on the season beating Cornell 14-2 and Rider 4-1, the Cavs will play Marshall on Tuesday before heading down to Clemson next weekend for a 3 game series with the Tigers.  The Virginia basketball team picked up another win on the road in the ACC yesterday at Maryland knocking off the Terrapins 74-60, with the win the Cavs finish the regular season with 16-14 overall record and a 7-9 ACC record.  We had a pretty good baseball scrimmage against Henrico yesterday, at times it was a bit sloppy but overall it wasn't to bad and there were also 2 fellow bloggers in stands as well.  We are scheduled to scrimmage Park View on Thursday but that is weather permitting, with all the rain we are suppose to get today and for-casted rain for Thursday it's looking a bit doubtful.  Mark Martin won yesterdays Nationwide race at Las Vegas and Danica Patrick had her best career Nascar finish coming home 4th.  It looks like it is going to be a rainy day so I think i will just stay inside and relax.  MICKEY

Well we will have our 1st baseball scrimmage of the year this morning at 11am at Shepherd Stadium against Henrico, the weather looks like it is going to be pretty nice so if you don't have have anything come on up and watch some of the scrimmage.  The Virginia baseball team picked up two more win yesterday beating Cornell 12-1 and Rider 12-0, the Cavs will them again today as well.  The VCU Rams will play the Drexel Dragons today in the CAA Tournament, the Rams need to come out of there slump soon or they may not make any post season tournament this year.  The Virginia basketball team will be on the road at Maryland today.  Matt Kenseth won the pole for this weeks Nascar race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway edging out Marcos Ambrose for the top spot, the Nationwide Series will race there today.  Well I have to run so I can get some exercise in before todays scrimmage.  MICKEY

IT HAS BEEN A LONG WEEK

I sure am glad that it is Friday because it sure has been a long week for some reason.  The Virginia baseball team will play Rider & Cornell today at Davenport Field and will also play them again tomorrow as well.  The Colonial Heights baseball team will have its first scrimmage tomorrow at 11am at Shepherd Stadium against Henrico.  My injuries continue to grow at an alarming  rate, I now have a blister on right finger, a sore arm, a sore hip and a sore left foot as well.  I injured my foot while playing in a inter-squad game while hitting when I fouled a ball of my left foot, I was 1-2 in the game but didn't hit anymore after fouling the ball of my foot.  The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be racing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday.  Well I heading to work.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA IMPROVES TO 8-1

The Virginia baseball team improves to 8-1 on the season with 7-0 win over Niagara yesterday, this was the 2 game in a row that the Cavs shut out there opponent.  Next up for the Cavs are a pair of games against Cornell and Rider this weekend.  Well I have to say my arm is as sore as it has been in about a year this morning and I don't know yet whether or not I am going to be able to throw or not today yet, if I had to throw this morning I wouldn't be able to.  It looks we had better get the most of the next 2 days of practice and Saturdays scrimmage because it looks like it is going to get allot of rain on Sunday which isn't good for practice next week, the field yesterday was still a bit soft in several places.  Well I am off to work.  MICKEY

A GOOD DAY FOR THE CAVS

It was a very good day to be a Virginia Cavaliers fan yesterday as both the Virginia basketball & baseball teams picked up victories.  The Virginia basketball team N.C. State last night 69-58 in there final home regular season game of the year, the Cavs lead at the half and maintained there lead the entire 2nd half.  The Virginia baseball team picked up a 9-0 win over William & Mary, the Cavs will play host to Niagara today.  Well we weren't able to get out on field again at the stadium again yesterday, I don't even think they even try to do anything to help us out up there.  If we aren't able to get on there today I think something should be done about, the weather looks like it is going to be very nice today with a high 63 expected but tomorrow it is going to be back in the 40's.  By the way for those interested our 1st scrimmage will be held at the stadium Saturday morning a 11am.  My arm is a bit sore this morning after throwing about 800 pitches the last 2 days in the cage.  MICKEY

WELCOME MARCH

Well today is the 1st day of March and I am hoping that March will be much dryer than February so we can actually get out on the baseball field and practice.  It was looking pretty good for an outdoor practice until t-storm came threw at about 4:20 so had to go hit in the cage again.  The weather roller coaster will continue today after temps in the 70's yesterday it is going to be back in the 50's today before heading back into the 60's tomorrow then back into the 40's for Thursday.  It is suppose to be in the 60's for our scrimmage on Saturday.  The Virginia basketball team will be looking to pick up another ACC win tonight when the play host to the N.C. State Wolfpack.  The Virginia baseball team will play host to William & Mary this afternoon.  I have pulled something in the left side of my body yesterday and I don't know what I did, I guess I picked up something wrong at work.  MICKEY
