HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUISE, COLONIALS WIN

Well today is fellow blogger Louise Frenier's birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Louise and I may know old she is but I am not telling. The Colonial Heights Colonials football team opened up there 2010 season with a 43-28 win over Thomas Jefferson, two of our baseball players Mack Krupp & Derek Mears both had very god games for the Colonials in the win. Down in Georgia it was a tough night for the Crawford County Eagles, the Eagles fell to Lee County 56-13. Well I will be heading up to Charlottesville tonight to see the Virginia Cavaliers face the Richmond Spiders and the coaching debut of Mike London as the new Cavs head coach, I think it is going to be a good night for the Cavs. Well does look like the OBX escaped any major damage from Hurricane Earl, sure there was some beach erosion, a few down and a few power outages as well but that was a whole better than it could have been thats for sure. In case anybody wants to know Wal-Mart has all Pepsi products on sale $4.50 a case which is very cheap, I really didn't need another case but I couldn't pass that deal up. MICKEY

He cites a study done at the Common Cold Research Unit, in Salisbury, England, in which a group of volunteers was inoculated with a cold virus up their noses. Half the group stayed in a warm room while the rest took a bath and stood dripping wet in a hallway for half an hour, then got dressed but wore wet socks for a few more hours. The wet group didn’t catch any more colds than the dry. Sears’s conclusion: “Feeling cold doesn’t affect your immune system.”

COLONIALS & EAGLES WIN, I AM HEADING TO UVA AFTERALL

The Colonial Heights Colonials kicked off the season with a 35-0 win over Thomas Jefferson last night in Colonial Heights. The Colonials looked pretty good on both sides of the ball in the victory, the Colonials are now off until September 12 when Park View South Hill comes to Colonial Heights. The Crawford County Eagles also won last night 27-20 over Taylor County, maybe Scott can give us an update on this game. Down at the beach First Flight improved to 2-0 with a 27-20 win over Camden, next week First Flight travels over to Manteo who lost last night to Northeastern 19-0. Well I am heading to UVA today after all, I was able to obtain a ticket last night however will be sitting on the hill, I just hope the grass is not wet. Hopefully UVA can keep this game respectful, there are not a whole lot of people giving them a chance. The East Carolina Pirates will face Virginia Tech in Charlotte today, I think the Pirates have a shot, I am heading down to see the ECU vs West Virginia game next Saturday. Jimmie Johnson captured the pole for this weeks Nascar race in California edging out A.J. Allmendinger for the top spot for Sundays race, next weekend they will be in Richmond.
