COLONIALS HOLD ON FOR A 7-6 VICTORY

The Colonial Heights Colonial baseball team fell behind 3-0 after the 1st inning at Thomas Dale but were able to rally and hold on for a 7-6 victory. Nathan Anger went the distance on the mound and also picked up two hits for the Colonials. The Colonials also got 2 RBI's a piece from Brent Lawhorne and Lance Rhodes. It was a very hard fought game right to the end, TD also hit 3 HR's in the game. The Colonials improve to 2-0 in the CD and 4-1 overall and will play Dinwiddie at 6pm at home Thursday night, TD will play at Meadowbook Thursday. The CH girls soccer team also defeated TD yesterday 2-0, with the win the Colonials are now 3-0 on the season. The CH boys soccer team fell to TD 2-0 and the softball team also fell to TD 5-1. The UVA baseball team picked up another victory yesterday beating George Mason 17-6, the Cavs are scheduled to play Longwood today but it looks like it might rain. Speaking of weather it could be a bit cold for tomorrows game with Dinwiddie, after yesterdays high temp in the mid 80's it isn't even suppose to get to 60 on Thursday. Here are the rest of the CD baseball scores Dinwiddie 9 Hopewell 7, Matoaca 15 Meadowbrook 5, and Prince George 10 Petersburg 0. GO COLONIALS, MICKEY

FINAL FOUR SET, UVA FALLS TO MIAMI

Well the NCAA basketball tournament is down to its Final Four now and it will be Georgetown vs Ohio State and UCLA vs Florida next weekend. I really don't like any of the teams left but I guess I would rather see UCLA win it than any of the the other schools left. The UVA baseball team was unable to complete the sweep of Miami this weekend falling to the Hurricanes 4-2 on Sunday, the Cavs will play George Mason on Tuesday and Longwood on Wednesday before playing at Virginia Tech next weekend. In Bristol yesterday Kyle Busch held off Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon to win the first ever COT race. Besides it being the 1st COT race it looked like a normal crash filled race at Bristol. The TD Knights will play today at home against Clover Hill in a tuneup for tomorrows game with the Colonials. I went Al's birthday bash last night at Donna & Al's house and guess who was there, none other than Colonial Heights #1 fan Andrew. We tried to give him a new CH hat but he just wouldn't take one. I WENT TO THE UVA BASEBALL GAME YESTERDAY

On the spur of the moment yesterday me and Ricky Toombs decided to go see the UVA baseball game and it was a good one for the Cavaliers as they knocked of the Miami Hurricanes 3-0. It was very nice day for baseball with temps in the mid 60's. The Cavaliers will go for the sweep of the Hurricanes this afternoon. I will be heading back to see them play again in a few weeks when Georgia Tech comes to town. In the NCAA basketball tournament Ohio State beat Memphis 92-76 and UCLA beat Kansas punching there ticket to the Final Four. The other two teams to go will be decided today when Georgetown meets UNC and Oregon meets Florida. Carl Edwards won a crashed filled Busch race at Bristol yesterday, Jeff Gordon will lead the field today in the Nextel Cup race at Bristol. Don't forget the Colonials will be back in action Tuesday against the Evil Empire (THOMAS DALE) at TD, game time is 4:30pm. MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL

Today is fellow blogger Al's 45th birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL. Today to celebrate his birthday Al is going to the Virginia Motor Speedway and you guessed it take some pictures. Allot of the ballplayers wanted to know where AL was at Thursday. I have posted a few photos of Al for his birthday. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team picked up another ACC win yesterday beating the Miami Hurricanes 4-1, they will play game 2 of the later today. The Richmond Renegades losing streak now stands at 7, the Gades lost for the 2nd consecutive night in OT, last night it was Columbus picking up a 3-2 win. The Gades will be home next Saturday night in the playoffs. Jeff Gordon captured the pole for this weekends stop on the Nascar Nextel Cup Series, this is the 1st race with the COT and I haven't got used to the way they look, they do look very strange. In the NCAA basketball tournament yesterday Oregon, UNC, Georgetown, and Florda all advanced to Sunday. Today Memphis will play Ohio St and UCLA will meet Kansas with the winners advancing to the Final Four. Again HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL, MICKEY

There is nothing new under the sun but there are lots of old things we don't know.

1882 - Professor Robert Koch announced the discovery of the tuberculosis germ -- in Berlin, Germany.
1955 - The Tennessee Williams play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, opened on Broadway. The hit ran for 694 shows and won the Critics’ Circle Award as the Best American Play.
1958 - Elvis Presley reported to local draft board 86 in Memphis, TN. He became US 53310761. Oddly, since Elvis was now ‘government property’ serving his time in the Army, Uncle Sam stood to lose an estimated $500,000 in lost taxes each year that Private Presley was in the Army.
1989 - At four minutes past midnight, the Exxon Valdez, a 987-foot supertanker loaded with 1,264,155 barrels of North Slope crude oil, ran aground on Bligh Reef in Prince William Sound, Alaska. 11.2 million gallons of oil spilled into the sea, mucking up nearly five hundred miles of shoreline.
