VIRGINIA WINS 6TH STRAIGHT GAME, ECU WINS IN OT
It wasn't pretty but a win is a win, the Virginia Cavaliers held off a very pesky Connecticut Huskies football team 17-16 to win there 6th straight game. The Cavalier defense won this game with several key defensive stops after the offense had put them in some pretty bad situations. If the Cavaliers wan to win there 7th straight game next week they will have to play better offensively at Maryland. Virginia is tied along with Virginia Tech for 1st place in Coastal Division of the ACC at 3-0, every other team in the division has at least 2 losses. The East Carolina Pirates pulled out a miracle last night scoring on the final play of the game to tie it and then beat UTEP in OT 45-42, the Pirates will host NC State next weekend. There will be a new #1 team in college football again as both the #1 and #2 teams both lost, LSU fell to Kentucky in #OT and Oregon State knocked off California. In the NFL today my favorite team Green Bay plays my 2nd favorite team Washington, I will have to root for the Packers but I think the Redskins are the better team right now. The Cleveland Indians tied there series up at 1 game a piece with Boston with a 13-6 win in 11 innings, the Indians scored 7 runs in the top of the 11th, the NL series will resume tonight in Colorado with the Rockies up 2-0 in the series. Jeff Gordon held off Clint Bowyer and picked up the win at the Lowe's Motor Speedway, with the win Gordon extended his points lead over Jimmy Johnson to 68 point and 78 points over Clint Bowyer. Next week the Nextel Cup Series return to Virginia to run at the Martinsville Speedway. It sure has been a busy weekend. MICKEY
