Well the regular season is done for this years contest and the only thing left is the Bowl Season and Chiz will head into the final portion of the contest with a 4 game lead over Craig. Besides Craig it looks like The Chief (-6), Andrew (-7) and Keith (-8) are the only ones who have a legitimate shot at catching Chiz. There is a pretty big logjam from 8-15 place with only 3 games separating those positions. Also we have new person in the lead for the final spot in this years contest, Neddo in his 1st year in the contest has dropped to the rear after Jonathan's big week. Jonathan had the best week going 12-2 while Murph and Larry had the toughest weeks going 6-8. I will sen out the Bowl Game Schedule out as soon as everything is finalized. MICKEY

CHIZ HOLDS A 7 GAME LEAD
Well after 14 weeks of this years contest Chiz has a 7 game lead over Craig and The Chief with just one week left in the regular season and then the Bowl Season. Keith & Andrew are 8 games back and need to make a move this week to have a shot at winning and then there is the rest of the filed. This week Phillips had the best week going 18-6 edging out Chris who went 17-7, Jeff had the roughest week going 9-15. There are not not as many games this week, there are few conferences finishing up the regular and the Championship Games in some conferences. MICKEY

CHIZ CONTINUES TO LEAD
Well after 13 weeks of this years contest Chiz has a 7 game lead over Keith, Craig and The Chief with Andrew 8 games back and Murph 9 games out. Steve had the best week going 18-6 and Julianne was right behind him going 17-7 while I had the toughest week going 10-14 which I have to say is a bit embarrassing. With Steve's win this week 17 of the 28 players in this years contest have won at least 1 week which is pretty good. Jonathan continues to hold on to the final spot by 2 games over Jonathan. I thought last weeks slate of games was pretty tough but this week may be tougher. MICKEY

CHIZ LIKES IT AT THE TOP
Well after taking the lead in this years contest last week it appears Chiz likes being the lead dog and has extended his his lead over Keith to 5 games. The list of contenders in this years contest is dwindling each week and there only 5 players within 9 games of the top spot. This past week Chiz and The Chief had the best week both going 20-4 while Phillips had the toughest week going 12-12. I had a pretty tough week myself falling all the way to 16th place and last years champion Tom looks to move into the top 10 next week. The battle for the final spot remains close with Neddo and Jonathan. There are some very tough games this week. MICKEY

CHIZ TAKES OVER THE LEAD
Well after 11 weeks of the contest we have a new leader, Chiz now leads Keith by 2 games after going 176 this week. Craig and Andrew are 6 games back followed by Murph who is 8 games out and The Chief who is 9 games back with everybody else 10 or more games back. I would say the top 6 players have shot win and if anybody else wants to have a shot at the title they need start making there move to the top very soon. This week Chiz, Tom and Jeff all went 17-6 having the best week while Neddo 8-15 and is now in a good battle with Jonathan for last place. MICKEY

Well after 9 weeks of the contest Keith has company at top of the standings, Chiz picked up 1 game this week on Keith and tied top of the standings with 138-59 record. Craig -6, Murph -7, Andrew -7, The Chief -8, Larry -8 and Sean -9 all remain within striking distance of the lead. This past week Larry had the best week by far going 18-5 and by doing so moved from 14th to 7th in the standings, Neddo and Jonathan had toughest week going 8-15. There where allot of upsets again this week and it appears next weeks games could be pretty challenging as well. MICKEY

KEITH HOLDS ON TO THE LEAD, THE CHIEF HAS THE BEST WEEK
Well 8 weeks are now in the books in this years contest and Keith holds a 1 game lead over Chiz. The Chief had the best week going 14-7 while Jeff, Chris, Guy and Phillips had the toughest week going 8-13. It is getting pretty tight between positions 3-8 with those positions only being separated by 3 games and there is another pretty big log jam with positions 10-17 only being separated by 3 games. There where allot of upsets in yesterdays and games and I have to say the biggest letdown of the day was Virginia blowing a 22 point lead. Here are the updated standings and next weeks games. MICKEY

AFTER 6 WEEKS KEITH CONTINUES TO LEAD
Well after 6 weeks of this of the contest Keith holds a 1 game lead over Chiz and they have put a little distance on the Craig -4, Andrew -5, Murph-6 and Scott-6. The top 12 players in this years contest are withing 10 games of the lead. Also positions 7-15th are only seperated by 4 games. This past week Erik had the best week going 17-5 while Jonathan had the worst week going 10-12. KEITH HOLDS ON TO THE LEAD
Well after 5 weeks of this years contest Keith has a 1 game lead over Craig for the top spot. Craig took over 2nd place from Chiz who dropped to 3rd just 2 games back. Murph, Scott, Andrew, The Chief, Bobby and Sean are lurking within striking distance of the top spot. There are 12 players within 10 games of the top spot and we have had 6 weekly winners in the 1st 5 weeks of the contest. This past week John had the best week going 15-7 while me and Neddo had the worst week going 8-14 and it cost me 6 spots in the standings. I have to say Scott has made the most improvement in standings since week 1 when he was 20th and now after week 5 he is 5th. Looks like another pretty tough week for games. MICKEY

IT'S GETTING A BIT TIGHTER AT THE TOP
Well after 4 weeks of the Mickey's College Football Contest things are getting much tighter at the top of the standings. Keith continues lead the the contest after week 4 but his lead is now down 1 game, Chiz is just 1 game back, Craig 2 games back and Murph, Andrew and the Chief are lurking 3 games back. The Chief, Scott and Joy had the nest weeks going 20-2, by going 20-2 Scott moved all the way to 7th place and Joy all the way to 14th. A couple of players had weeks they wish they forget, Jason went 10-12 and dropped to last place and Chris went 11-11 went from 10th to 20th in standings. The top 14 players in the contest are within 10 games of the lead. It looks like next weeks slate of games will be the the toughest so far this season. MICKEY

KEITH HOLDS ON TO THE LEAD, ANDREW HAS THE BEST WEEK
Well after three weeks of this years contest Keith continues lead Chiz by 2 games and Craign Murph and Andrew by 4 games. Andrew had the best week going 16-5 and by doing so moved up to the 5th spot in the standings. The top 16 players in the contest are within 10 games of the lead and positions 3-13 are only separated by 3 games. Jason and Steve had the toughest weeks going 10-11 this week. There are some pretty tough games to pick this upcoming week, there are not allot of big games but there are several tough games to pick. MICKEY

KEITH STILL LEADS AFTER WEEK 2
Well two weeks of this years contest are in now and the books and Keith has a 2 game lead over Chiz with Bobby and Craig just 3 games back. Keith and Chiz had the best weeks with there picks both going 19-3 while Jonathan had the toughest week going 11-11. There are 4 players who finished last year in the top last who are 20th or worst so far this year and they are Erik who is 20th, Joy 23rd, Steve 26th and Julianne 27th. It will be interesting to to see if they can climb there way back towards the top. It looks like this weeks games are going to be quite a bit tougher than last weeks which could make or break some participants. Please remember I need your picks back in no later than 9pm Wednesday. Well after week 1 of this years contest Keith has a 1 game lead over Bobby and Andrew. Keith went 20-2 while Bobby and Andrew went 19-3 while positions 4-8 are just 2 games back and the top 18 players are within 5 games of the lead. The toughest week belonged to Steve and Duane who both went 12-10 but have the rest of this years contest to make a move towards the top. I have to say there a couple of names that I am very surprised to see towards the bottom of the standings and there are few at the top as well. POLLEN GETTING BAD
I have to say after running outside yesterday that the pollen is really starting to get bad. Don't get me wrong I would much rather have temperatures in the 70's and 80's even if it does bring the pollen out than to have temps in the 40's like it has been most of baseball season. Speaking of baseball season the Colonials went 1-1 this past week beating Hopewell and losing to Dinwiddie, we will be at home this week against Prince George and Meadowbrook. The Virginia baseball team ended it's 2 game losing streak yesterday beating Georgia Tech, the Cavs will try to win the series against the Yellow Jackets later today. Kyle Busc won Friday nights Nationwide race at Texas and last night he won the Sprint Cup race as well making it a clean sweep for him this weekend. The Nascar Truck Series will race at Rockingham today a track I think the Sprint Cup Series should still race at, besides Richmond I have seen more races at Rockingham than any other track. Well it looks like another heat wave will hit the area by the end of the week with temps reaching into the lower 90's. MICKEY

LOUISVILLE WINS THE NATIONAL CHAMPIOSHIP
Well I have to say I did not stay up to see the finish of lasts nights game but Louisville Cardinals beat the Michigan Wolverines 82-76. I wish they would start these games earlier because the older I get the harder it is for me to stay up and see the finish. The Virginia baseball team improved to 30-3 last night holding on to beat Wake Forest 9-7, next up for the Cavs is a game on Wednesday against Radford before heading down to Atlanta next weekend to face Georgia Tech. The Colonial Heights baseball team will be at home tonight against Hopewell with the first pitch scheduled at 6pm. Well its going to be very warm today with temps climbing into the mid 80's, the only bad thing about the warm temps now is that the pollen is really starting to get bad which is causing my allergies act up. MICKEY

MICHIGAN TO FACE LOUISVILLE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The Michigan Wolverines beat Syracuse last night 61-56 and the Louisville Cardinals beat Wichita State 72-68 to advance the championship game tomorrow night in Atlanta. I will be rooting for the Wolverines to win tomorrow night. The Virginia baseball team improved to 28-3 on the season with a come from behind win at Wake Forest 7-6, the Cavs scored 5 run in the top of the 9th to come away with the win and will face the Deacons again this afternoon. The Sprint Cup Series will be in Virginia this afternoon at the Martinsville Speedway where Jimmie Johnson will start from the pole and by the end of today's race I am sure there will be some drivers with some short fuses. It does look like we will finally get some good baseball weather this week with temps in the 70's and 80's all week, the Colonials will be at home Tuesday night against Hopewell and will be at Dinwiddie on Thursday night. MICKEY

COLONIALS SPRING BREAK TOURNAMENT
The Colonial Heights Spring Break Baseball Tournament starts today with 4 games at Shepherd Stadium starting at 10am this morning. In this years tournament are Monacan, Clover Hill, Henrico, Varina, Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Prince George and Colonial Heights. The Colonials will play all there games at 7pm and the tournament will continue tomorrow and Thursday. I am hoping the that the weather will cooperate and we can keep the tournament on schedule. MICKEY

SIGNS OF SPRING
Well it looks like we are finally going to see some sign of Spring with temperatures climbing into the lower to mid 60's the next 3 days before dropping back into the 50's for a few days next week. All I know is Spring is about 2 weeks late and every baseball game and scrimmage we have played this year has been pretty darn miserable. The Colonials baseball season has got off to a bit of a slow start only playing 3 games in weeks because of the bad weather and our record has been a bit slow as well going 1-2 in those games. Next week the Colonials are scheduled to play 3 games in 4 days weather permitting at Shepherd Stadium with all three games starting at 7pm. The Virginia baseball team continued it's winning ways last night beating Miami 15-4 and our now 24-2 on the season and will play Miami again today in game 2 of there series. Well there is only 1 underdog team left in this years in NCAA basketball tournament after Florida Gulf Coast got beat last night by Florida, I will be rooting for Wichita State to upset Ohio State tonight. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is off this week for Easter. I want to wish everybody a Happy Easter. Mickey

FIREWORKS AT THE END OF YESTERDAYS RACE
Well the feud between Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano continued yesterday at the California Speedway when it appeared once Logano knew he wasn't going to win the race drove into the side of Hamlin wrecking both of them allowing Kyle Busch to win the race. In an interview after the race Logano pretty much made it clear that he wrecked him on purpose as well. The after the race Logano had a bit of another problem when he was confronted by Tony Stewart on pit road and had a brief altercation with Stewart, it's pretty clear Logano is not making to many friends on the track but plenty of enemies. I have to say that's what Nascar needs though a clear cut bad guy and some confrontations. The print Cup Series will be off next weekend for Easter before heading to Martinsville. Well in the NCAA basketball tournament last night Florida Gulf Coast continued it's magical run beating San Diego State and advancing to the Sweet 16 where they will play the Florida Gators next. I will also be rooting for Wichita State and LaSalle as well. The weatherman sure messed up on the forecast yesterday and will be explaining what went wrong today with there forecast. We where suppose to have a baseball game today and tomorrow as well, today's game has been postponed and I am guessing tomorrows game will be as well. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

CAN VCU MAKE ANOTHER NCAA TOURNAMENT RUN
Can the VCU Rams make another NCAA Tournament run this year? This afternoon the Rams will face the Michigan Wolverines right in there own backyard in Auburn Hills, Michigan and with a win today would put the Rams in the Sweet Sixteen again. The Wolverines are favored by 3.5 points but I think the Rams can win the game and I think that it will be a very close game. In the biggest upset of this years tournament so far Florida Gulf Coast upset Georgetown last night. I will be rooting for all the underdogs now since my brackets have been totally destroyed. GO RAMS, MICKEY

COLONIALS FALL
The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team lost last night to Thomas Dale 8-5 on a very cold blustery night in the Heights 8-5. It was a game that went back and forth on the scoreboard most of the game with Thomas Dale just doing a bit more coming away with the win. I just hope it will warm up soon because I am tired of freezing to death during the game, baseball was meant to be a game played in warm weather. I just hope it warms up soon. MICKEY
Thursday, March 21, 2013
ITS GOING TO BE A COLD NIGHT FOR BASBALL
The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will play its second game of the season tonight at home at 6pm against Thomas Dale. It will be the 1st district game of the year for both teams and its going to be a very cold night for baseball. The temperature at game time is suppose to be 40 with winds 15-20 mph which means the wind chill will below freezing. So needless to say if your are coming out to the game you should dress accordingly, I know I will be. Also the NCAA basketball tournament get into full swing today. MICKEY
Monday, March 18, 2013
THE WEATHER JUST HAS NOT BEEN GOOD FOR BASEBALL
The weather since baseball started in February just has not been good at all. If it has not been freezing cold and windy it has been raining and even sometimes even some snow. I just heard the weatherman say this morning it looks like temps will be below normal for at least the next 10 days which is not good at all, I just want Spring to hurry and get here. MICKEY
Saturday, March 16, 2013
IT LOOKS LIKE 3 TEAMS FROM VIRGINIA IN THIS YEARS NCAA TOURNAMENT
Well with Virginia's loss to N.C. State in the ACC basketball tournament yesterday it looks like there will be only 3 teams form Virginia in this years NCAA basketball tournament. Liberty, James Madison and VCU will represent the commonwealth this year. The Cavs appear to be heading to NIT where the can play a few more games. The Virginia baseball team came from behind to beat Clemson last night 6-5 in extra innings, they will play game 2 of there series today against the Tigers and the game can be seen on ESPN3. It looks like the temps are going to be very mild today with temps in the 60's before dropping back in the 40's with rain tomorrow, I wish Spring would come and stay for a while. MICKEY

Well we are suppose to play our first game of the season at home tomorrow against Fredricksburg Christian at 6pm but it looks like Mother Nature will have a say in whether we play or not. I have to say it's not looking good with 100% chance of overnight into the morning hours. We will also be at home on Thursday night at 6pm as well against Henrico, so if you don't have anything else today com on by the Stadium and catch some Colonials baseball action. MICKEY

SPRING & SUMMER CANT GET HERE SOON ENOUGH
Well after sitting through 2 very cold scrimmages the last two weeks I have to say Spring and Summer cannot get here soon enough. We need some baseball weather tom move in before Tuesdays season opening game against Fredricksburg Christian. The Virginia baseball team will open up ACC playing Maryland in a double header today, the were suppose to open up the series yesterday but the field was still a bit soft. Qualifying for this weeks Nascar race at Las Vegas was rained out yesterday so they will up by last years points. Also don't forget set your clocks forward an hour before you go to be tonight. MICKEY

IT'S MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK AGAIN
Well I sure am glad that is Friday, it feels like it has been a long week. Well we our going to try to play our 2nd scrimmage again tonight against Manchester if the field dries out enough for us to play, I hope we are able to get the game in tonight. The Virginia baseball team will open up ACC play this weekend against Maryland, they were schedule to start the series tonight but field conditions have pushed things back to Saturday. Also after today some Spring like temperatures will be arriving for the weekend which is just fine with me. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at Las Vegas this weekend. Well I am going to work. MICKEY

I AM GLAD IT THAT HAS BEEN MOSTLY RAIN
I know there allot of people out there who wanted to see allot of snow but I have to day that I am not one of them. If all the rain we have received since last night would have been snow it would have caused some major problems with our baseball schedule that is suppose to start next week. We were suppose to scrimmage Manchester tonight but that is obviously not going to happen, there is a chance we could play of Friday but with all the rain we have got so far that is even in doubt, however it is suppose to turn windy later today but we need it to stop raining soon. I hoping we can play then but it is not looking good right now. MICKEY

WILL IT OR WILL IT NOT SNOW
The big question this week is whether or not it will not snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Some of the weatherman in the area forecasting up to a foot of snow while others say it is just going to be a cold rain. I have to say I am hoping just for a cold rain because any snow this time of year is much worst for out baseball season. It does appear a northeaster will develop somewhere of the Atlantic Coast and where it develops will determine the type of precipitation that we get, I am hoping this storm is bust. I have to say yesterdays baseball scrimmage went pretty well with the exception of 1 inning. Our pitching staff did very well and we hit the ball ok but not great but we need to improve a bit defensively. We are scheduled to scrimmage Manchester Wednesday but with the impending weather its not looking to good for that scrimmage. The Virginia baseball team improved to 11-0 with a pair of wins yesterday. MICKEY

BASEBALL SCRIMMAGE TOMORROW
We will have our 1st baseball scrimmage of the year tomorrow morning at 11:00 am at Shepherd Stadium against Park View South Hill. We are suppose to have another scrimmage Wednesday night but it looks like Mother Nature may have something to say about that. It is going to be a bit cool in the morning so if you are coming out to the scrimmage you need to dress accordingly. The Virginia baseball team improved to 9-0 today with a 3-0 over Harvard, the Cavs will play 2 tomorrow. MICKEY
Thursday, February 28, 2013
DUKE AT VIRGINIA
The Virginia basketball team has a huge game at home tonight against Duke. A win tonight against Duke I think would put the Cavs in this years NCAA basketball tournament. The Virginia baseball team improved to 8-0 with a 11-0 win over George Washington yesterday, the Cavs will be at home this weekend for 3 games. The Colonials baseball team will hold its first scrimmage at home Saturday morning at 11am, I have to say it is going to be a bit cold. The whole right side of my body is very sore and I seem to be trying to catch a cold. Speaking of cold some of the weatherman in the area are predicting a big snowstorm next week, I don't want any snow period. I am going to work. MICKEY

DAYTONA 500
Well the Nascar season officially starts this afternoon with the running of the Daytona 500. There was a very bad wreck on the final lap of the Nationwide yesterday in which several fans where injured and two of the fans where critically injured. All of the drivers walked away from the incident and after watching video of the wreck it's a miracle that more fans were not seriously injured with a couple of tires and the engine coming off the car and numerous other parts. I think we could have a surprise winner of the 500. The Virginia basketball team will be back at home today against Georgia Tech looking for another ACC win. The Virginia baseball team will be looking for a series sweep against Toledo this afternoon. Well it is suppose to make to 60 degrees today but this morning I have to say I don't think it is going to make it that high. MICKEY
Saturday, February 23, 2013
1ST SCRIMMAGE A WEEK AWAY
Well our 1st baseball scrimmage of the year will be next Saturday at Shepherd Stadium. I am hoping the weather will cooperate and will be sunny and warm but I don't think that is going to happen. We did have a pretty good week of practice despite the colder weather, the only day that I was really cold was on Thursday. The Virginia baseball team improved 5-0 yesterday with 15-0 win over Toledo, the Cavs will face the Rockets again today and tomorrow weather permitting. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series officially kicks off the season tomorrow with the running of the Daytona 500. Have a good weekend. MICKEY
Wednesday, February 20, 2013
FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE
Well we had our 1st official day of baseball practice yesterday and yes we where able to get on the field despite it drizzling most of the day. The only area the field that was really soft was the area around home plate but we stayed off of that area yesterday. It was a bit cool but once I started moving around a bit it wasn't to bad but it does look like it is going to be a bit cooler today even though the sun is going to be out. MICKEY

VIRGINIA WINS
The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team opened up the season yesterday with a 14-4 win at East Carolina in game 1 of a 3 game series. They will play game 2 of the series this morning at 10am, the game was moved up due weather conditions. We will have our fist baseball scrimmage 2 weeks form today and baseball practice officially begins on Tuesday. The Virginia basketball team has a big game down at North Carolina today, the Cavs need a wind today to make there case for making this years NCAA basketball tournament. Down at Daytona tonight they will run the Sprint Unlimited which use to be known as the Bud Shootout and the Busch Clash an this qualify tomorrow for the Daytona 500. It looks like we might get a bit of snow this afternoon which is not very good for baseball practice, hopefully it will only be a flurry. MICKEY

RAINY START TO THE WEEK
Its going to be a rainy start to the work week today with about a 70% chance of rain but it is going to be a warm day day which is good with temps near 70. There is also a pretty good chance of rain on Wednesday and there is another chance of precipitation next weekend. Its hard to believe that baseball practice starts next week, I hoping that the weather weather will cooperate. I went to the beach this weekend and it was bit cold but it was the beach none the less. MICKEY

LEGS A BIT SORE
Well my legs are a bit sore after running outside yesterday for the 1st time in about a month, I have still been running but only on the treadmill since it has been so cold and windy. It looks like some more rain is on the way tonight and it should last through Friday. My arm is feeling pretty good despite throwing allot of pitches on Tuesday night but I will throw allot more pitches tonight. I hope to update my blog on a more frequent basis once baseball season starts however I might just switch all my thought to Twitter. MICKEY

IT IS SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
Well it is Super Bowl Sunday and yes I will watch the game even though the Packers and Redskins didn't make it again to this years game. I really do not have a rooting interest in this game but 49ers are favored by 4 which usually means Baltimore will win the game. There will be also another Super Bowl played today in the advertising world because of the amount of people watching the game and I am sure there will be some very creative commercials for sure. The New York Rangers look pretty good last night beating Tampa 3-2, hopefully it will be the start of a long winning streak. The Virginia basketball team will be on the road at Georgia Tech this afternoon, so far the road has not been to good for the Cavs falling to both Clemson and Wake Forest on the road. MICKEY

IT'S FEBRUARY 1
Well today is the 1st day of February and yes it is my favorite day of the week and yes I am very glad that it is Friday. My arm is very sore after throwing allot of pitches last night, I just have not found my groove yet this year. It sure feels cold outside this morning after being in the 60's just a few days ago at this time. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

MUCH COOLER TODAY
Well after having a few days with the temperatures reaching the mid 70's some much more seasonable temps are on the way with highs only in the 40's for the next 4 or 5 days. We got some rain overnight and a few strong winds to go with it but it appears that the power outages are very minimal this morning. My allergies have been acting up a bit the last few days I guess because of the warm weather, my eyes have been burning. The VCU basketball team ended there 2 game losing streak last night on the road. MICKEY
Wednesday, January 30, 2013
62 DEGREES AT 6AM
Who would have ever thought it would be 62 degrees at 6am on January 30. The temperature will climb into the upper 70's before dropping back into the 50's tomorrow. The Virginia basketball team upset N.C. State State last night and with the win have moved into 2nd place in the ACC. My arm is a bit sore after throwing batting practice for the 1st time in about 10 days this morning, it won't be long until baseball practice officially starts. MICKEY
Monday, January 28, 2013
A COUPLE OF WARM DAYS COMING UP
Well after being pretty cold for about the last 8-10 days there will be a couple of Spring like days coming up starting tomorrow. Tomorrow they are forecasting the temps to be in the 60's and then on Wednesday the temp will climb into the 70's before dropping back into the 30's by Friday so enjoy the couple of Spring like days before it feels like Winter again. I have a feeling that in February we are going to get allot of snow. MICKEY

A LONG TRIP HOME FROM WORK
I have to say that yesterdays trip home from work yesterday afternoon was quite a bit frustrating to say the least. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to get home when it usually takes me about 25 to 30 minutes to home. I have never seen so many wrecks with such a little bit of snow and I have to say there where allot of drivers who looked frustrated including me. It seemed that every road I got onto there was an accident. Well I did not go down to Wal-Mart but I did go to Dunkin Donuts and I think that I was there first customer of the day. Well I have to say I looking forward to the 60 degrees temps next week. MICKEY
Friday, January 25, 2013
A LITTLE MORE SNOW
Well it looks like a little more snow is on the way for the area this afternoon and tonight. It looks like at the most we will get 2 inches but as cold as it is everything that falls will stick which could lead to a very tricky trip home this afternoon. There is some much warmer temps on the way for next week with the temps climbing back into the 60's. In college basketball action last night Richmond beat VCU in OT and Virginia beat Virginia Tech. In the NHL last night the Rangers and Capitals continue to struggle the Rangers lost at Philadelphia and the Caps remained win less falling to Montreal. I sure am glad that it is Friday. MICKEY
Wednesday, January 23, 2013
IT IS COLD
I don't no what else to say but it is cold out there, this morning when I woke up it was 16 and it does not look like the temperature will get above freezing today. There is a chance that we might see a little bit of light snow or flurries tonight but there looks like there might be a much better chance of snow of Friday but we will just have to wait and see if that develops into anything. It does look like the temp will climb into the 50's next week but until then try to stay warm. BRRR Mickey

SUPER BOWL SET
Well this years Super Bowl is now set and it will be a family affair between Harbaugh brothers. Jim's 49ers came from behind to beat the Falcons and John's Ravens did they same against the Patriots setting up the match-up in 2 weeks. Well the New York Rangers are now 0-2 after falling to the Penguins last night, the Rangers next the turn things around fast is short season. Well today is going to be the last warm day before some very cold air comes into town and the high will not get above freezing the next 2 days which I don't like since I am a warm weather person. MICKEY

NFL PLAYOFFS RESUME TODAY
Well after today's 2 championship games the Super Bowl will be set. In today's first game the Atlanta Falcons will be at San Francisco to face the 49ers and in AFC it will be Baltimore at New England. On paper the 49ers and Patriots are favorites but I think one of them will be upset. Well my 2 favorite teams in the NHL both lost there openers last night, the Rangers lost to the Bruins while the Capitals lost to the Lightning. In College basketball action Virginia crushed Florida State and VCU did the same with Duquesne . It looks like everybody should enjoy today because it looks like a very cold arctic air mass is heading our way and there is a chance of snow towards the end of the week. MICKEY

THE NHL SEASON STARTS TODAY
Well the NHL season will finally starts today after a 3 month delay because the owners and players could not come to an agreement. The only thing the holdout did was hurt the NHL fans and the employees who depend on the league to survive. I am happy they are back on the ice again but it may take me a few weeks to get back into watching hockey, I was looking forward to this years season but now just don't know. Well my 2 favorite team will be in action on the road tonight, the Rangers will be in Boston while the Capitals will be at Tampa. MICKEY

NOT TO MUCH SNOW
Well after getting anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of rain the last few days we got about about an inch of snow here in Colonial Heights last night. The snow came down pretty steady for a few hours last night before tapering off to light snow before I went to bed. Its a good thing we did not get allot of snow because it was a very wet snow that's for sure. The snow did force all the local area schools systems to close today which mad allot of teachers and students very happy but I still have to work today. MICKEY
Thursday, January 17, 2013
SNOW ON THE WAY
Well it looks like we will get out first snow of the season tonight with anywhere from 2-6 inches expected starting later today and lasting till around midnight. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for later today. The biggest problem that I see with the getting snow is the amount of rain we have had the the last 3 days and we are also going to get more rain today before it changes on snow and then sticking. Well I guess if it comes down fast enough it will stick, we will just have to see. MICKEY
Tuesday, January 15, 2013
ANOTHER RAINY DAY
Well after staring the week with a rainy day yesterday it looks the the rain will continue through tomorrow. We need the rain so I am not going to complain much about it, I am just glad that it is not snow because if it was we would have a real mess on our hands. I am hoping that we get most of the rain out of the way before baseball practice starts next month. The Colonial Heights boys basketball team will be back at home tonight against Petersburg. MICKEY

THE PACKERS COULD NOT STOP THE 49ERS
The Green Bay Packers are still trying to figure out who has the ball on defense as the Packers fell on the road to San Francisco 45-31. The 49ers had there way with the Packers defense all night controlling the ball offensively. The Packers offense had some good moments but it also looked very bad at times as well. The 49ers will play the winner of today's Seattle at Atlanta game for the NFC Championship next weekend. The Ravens came back and beat the Broncos in 2OT yesterday 38-35 and will face the winner of today's Texans at Patriots game next weekend in the AFC Championship game. Well its still foggy here at the beach so for the 2nd day in a row there will be no sunrise photos. MICKEY

NFL PLAYOFFS RESUME TODAY
Well the NFL Playoffs will resume today with a pair of game starting this afternoon at 4:30 with Baltimore Ravens visiting Denver to face the Broncos with the winner moving to the AFC Championship Game next weekend. In the the nightcap tonight the Green bay Packers will visit the San Francisco 49ers with the winner moving on to the NFC Championship Game next weekend. Well I came down to the beach last night and i wanted to take some sunrise photos this morning but Mother Nature had other plans, it was a very foggy and drizzly morning here so I couldn't get any photos. I may go out later this afternoon if it clears off and take some photos on the beach. I have to say there are not a whole lot of people down here. MICKEY

CAVS FALL AT WAKE FOREST
Well just 3 days after beating North Carolina the Virginia basketball went on the road and lost to Wake Forest 55-52. This team play great defense but sometimes haves trouble scoring and that's what happened to the Cavs last night. The VCU Rams opened up A-10 play with 74-62 win over Dayton, also the Rams are also now ranked 24th in the country. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

ALABAMA TO MUCH FOR NOTRE DAME
Well Alabama was just to much for Notre Dame from the opening kick off until the final seconds of lasts nights BCS Championship. Not that we did know that the SEC was the best conference in college football but Alabama made sure everybody knows it. The SEC probably had 4 teams that could have won the BCS Championship. Well after taking a few weeks off for Christmas break we will be back at the high school tonight hitting again so I am quite sure my arm will be hurting again tomorrow. MICKEY

PACKERS WIN, SKINS PLAY TODAY
Well the Packers did not play there best game of the year last night but none the less cam away with a 24-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. After a bit of shaky start on the first series of the game the Packers defense was pretty good with the exception of the play on the Vikings TD in the final 2 minutes of the game. The Packers will travel to San Francisco next week. In the AFC yesterday Houston beat Cincinnati 19-13 and will play at New England next week. This afternoon the Redskins will be at home against the Seahawks with the winner playing in Atlanta next weekend and in the AFC today Indianapolis will be at Baltimore. The Virginia basketball team will open up ACC play tonight at home against North Carolina. It appear the NHL and it's players have reached and agreement which will end the holdout/strike, however at this point I am not to excited about the season starting in the middle of January instead of when it was suppose to start in early October. I think the NHL hurt themselves by letting the happen, being the 4th or 5th major sport in the United States the did not help themselves. MICKEY

NFL PLAYOFFS START TODAY
The NFL Playoffs start today with a pair of games, in the AFC it will be Cincinnati at Houston and the NFC it will Minnesota will be at Green Bay. Green Bay will be trying avenge last weeks loss at Minnesota to end the season and I am sure they will be playing on the Frozen Tundra. I went up and watched the Colonials basketball team play Prince George last night, it was a pretty good game for the most part with Prince George coming away with a 70-67 win over the Colonials. Dad cam home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and is a bit sore but very glad to be home and Mozart is also very happy he is home well. MICKEY

DAD UP AND MOVING AROUND
Well just hours after they had finished surgery on his knees yesterday they had dad up and moving around a little bit last night at the hospital. The just had him walk just a little bit last night in his room but this morning he is going have his first official physical therapy session. It looks like they are going to send him home either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. MICKEY

DAD HAVING KNEE SURGERY
Well after having some pretty severe knee pain for the last 5 or 6 months dad is having surgery on both of his knees this morning. He is having a total knee replacement on one knee and is having the the other knee scoped. Hopefully this will alleviate the pain that he has been having and will be able to get around without all the pain that he has been having. Also today the are going to do surgery on Donna's ankle again. MICKEY
