THE SCHOOL BELLS ARE RINGING

Ready or not today will be the 1st day of school for students here in our area. I am sure there some quite anxious students and teachers ready to get the year started, some people are saying where did the summer go. I have posted a link below to the photos Al took at Fridays Colonial Heights football game against Thomas Jefferson. Speaking of football last night Clemson beat Florida State 24-18 in a key ACC match up, I watched the 1st half of the game and I have to say Clemson looked pretty good. It does look like the weather is going to be nice for the 1st week of school with highs in the upper 80's to low 90's with a very little chance of rain but sure could use some more rain. I talked to Scott yesterday and he said it has rained everyday this holiday weekend in Georgia. MICKEY

If I'd had some set idea of a finish line, don't you think I would have crossed it years ago?

HEALTH TIP DO YOU GET ENOUGH VITAMIN D
Vitamin D is essential in helping the body absorb calcium. It also helps keep a healthy balance of phosphorous and calcium in the blood.

Here are foods that are good sources of vitamin D, courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

* Dairy products, including cheese, butter, cream and fortified milk.
* Fish.
* Oysters.
* Fortified cereals.
* Margarine.

1882 - Thomas Edison displayed the first practical electrical lighting system. The Pearl Street electric power station, Edison’'s steam powered plant, began operating and successfully turned on the lights in a one square mile area of New York City.
1885
- As you pile that delicious platter of stuff on your tray, grab an extra dessert just for the fun of it and enough packets of sugar to last a year ... keep in mind that on this day, the Exchange Buffet opened in New York City. It was the first self-service restaurant in the U.S.
1888 - The name Kodak was registered by George Eastman of Rochester, NY. He patented his roll-film camera: U.S. Patent #388,850.
1928 - An endurance test got underway for the Boston Braves. The team started a stretch that saw them playing nine doubleheaders in a row. It is doubtful that the person in charge of scheduling games lasted very long after that.
1949 - The longest pro tennis match in history was played. Pancho Gonzales and Ted Schroeder played 67 games in five sets.
1953 - The New York Yankees became the first baseball team, and Casey Stengel the first manager, to win five consecutive American League championships.

I hope everyone has a good first day of school. Mark now has both his girl's in school. My "little one" starts his Senior Year. Hard to believe!!!

Oh by they way, the Colonial Heights baseball team was well represented at the fashion show - Lee and Kenny Stoneback were the "male models" for CHHS. If I may say so --- they were best looking guys!

A wild guess: He was from North Dakota so he thought about NODAK but decided KODAK was betterssince it is short and can not be associated with othern products and it is easy to remember. lso, I bet his mother thought Kodak would be better . Inthe future you can Bobbying it instead of Goggling it
