EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT TUESDAY AFTERNOON
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening, actual temps will be over 100 those three days with indexes in excess of 110. It is strongly advised to drink plenty of fluids these days and to avoid prolonged periods of time in the heat, I am sure all the AC around here have been extremely busy the last few weeks. I did hear on the radio Saturday that somebody called and said the earliest they could get somebody to fix there AC was Thursday of this week because they have been so busy. The Appomattox League playoffs began tonight and we will be playing Prince George at 6pm at Prince George High School. Andrew's team lost yesterday but I don't know what the score was, they play again tonight at 8pm at the Robiuos athletic Complex. ENJOY TODAY'S COOL WEATHER IN CH
Well you better enjoy today's cool weather in CH because after today they are going to turn the blow torch back on. Next week they are calling highs in the upper 90's for at least three days next week, as hot as it has been around here I think I am living in Georgia. I did make it down to Wal-Mart this morning but I didn't buy any donuts all, just bought some other groceries. I decided that I would just have a Milky Way and Pepsi for breakfast. It has been a very busy week with three straight nights of baseball, so on thursday what did I do but go watch a little softball at Lakeview. CH SPLITS WITH MATOACA
Last night at Matoaca High School CH split with Matoaca on what may be the final games of the regular season. In the first game we jumped out a pretty big lead and cruised the rest of the way, in the 2nd game we fell behind 5-0 in the 1st inning and did battle our way back before falling 7-5. We are suppose to play Deep Run on friday but those game may not effect the final standings so they may not have to played, we should no for sure this afternoon. The playoffs to start monday night. Most all NFL training camps are now open which means football can't be to far away, they will start play preseason games soon. The heat will be back on around here for the next few days with indexes over 100, it is still not as bad as it has been in California and Nevada were actual temps have been between 110-115 several times in the last few days. With coach Holt unavailable do to a previous engagement I coached the team last night, the 1st game was no problem 10-0 victory but the 2nd game was more challenging as we fell behind 5-1 before coming back for to pick up an 11-7 victory. I think I pulled a hamstring in my left leg and I have no idea how a did it, my ear still bothering me but not as bad as my leg. I have posted the last two photo albums from Donna and Al's wedding below, they were taken by the wedding photographer at the wedding and the reception. I WENT TO BUY A NEW CELL PHONE BUT
Well I went down to the Cingular store with the intention of buying a new cell phone but all I got was new battery for my old phone from Radio Shack. They told me that I couldn't keep the same plan I had if I was going to get a new phone and the next closest plan to the one I had was going to cost me about $11 more a month and I just wasn't going to pay that. She told me I could probably get a new battery for my a old phone down at Radio Shack and I did and it cost me $30, so by doing that I will save a little over a $100 this year. I just don't need a plan with more minutes and my old will do fine. Denny Hamilin will lead the field in todays Nextel Cup event at Pocono, last month he aslo set on the pole at Pocono and went on to win the race, we will have to see later if he can pick up another victory. A CLOUDY MORNING IN CH
Well it's a very cloudy but muggy morning here in CH and it's a bit breezy also. We did have some very light rain showers overnight but they didn't amount to much. Well I went down to the Wal-Mart this morning and I couldn't get to about half the store because they were cleaning the floors but they finally opened those areas before I left so I was able to get everything I needed. The are getting ready to remodel the store again so when they finish I won't be able to find anything for a few weeks, it seems like to me that it wasn't that long ago that they remodeled the store. All you Elliott Sadler fans need to switch to the best driver from Virginia in Nascar right now and that's Denny Hamlin and he is on the pole for sundays Nextel Cup race at Pocono. Today the Busch Series is at the Martinsville Speedway and old DW will race probably race his final race in the Michaels Dream Machine, he was about mid pack in practice so don't think he will have that good of a day. I didn't know that there were so many Cincinnati Reds fans at the wedding but I guess if you are winning everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon. They are calling for some more t-storms this afternoon in CH, hopefully they won't be as strong as the storms we had wed night. I have posted a photo of what Lexi thinks about her dad's action on the go kart track. MICKEY

BIG STORMS HIT CH LAST NIGHT
Some very big t-storms his CH last night dumping some very heavy rain, sharp lightning, gusty winds, and even some marble size hail for several minutes. By the sounds of all the sirens I would say that there were several lightning strikes here last night but I am not sure how many because I don't have a scanner here. The storms started just before 6pm and lasted to around 10pm, needless to say our baseball game was postponed and I don't think I have seen that much water on the stadium field in a long time. There is a chance of some more t-storms later today also. I have posted a photo of grounds crew at St. Louis trying to get the tarp on the field during a t-storm there last night, as you can tell they were having a bit of trouble with the wind. Also my right ear is still clogged up from going in the ocean last week, everybody sounds like there in a tunnel to me. MICKEY

TROPICAL STORM BERYL TO STAY OFFSHORE
Well it looks like that Tropical Storm Beryl will stay offshore and miss the NC and VA coast over the next couple of days. It look like the biggest threats from this storm will be the rip currents that it could produce. By the way the water temp yesterday was a very warm 78 a far cry from most of last weeks water temp's in the upper 50's. Here in CH it is suppose to be just 90 today and only 85 thursday, I might have to pull out my jacket, in Knoxville, Ga today it suppose to be 101 though. The CH entry in the Appomattox League will be back in action tonight at Shepherd Stadium against Petersburg, gametime is 6pm. I have posted a few more photo albums on photography album site, I have provided a link below to get to the site, I will be adding a few more albums over the next few days. IT'S GOING TO BE HOT AGAIN TODAY
Well if you thought yesterday was hot it's going be hotter today and the heat index could approach 110 later this afternoon. It does look like it will cool into the low to mid 90's after today for a few days. The CH baseball team had a pretty tough night last night against Deep Run dropping both game of a DH, it just wasn't pretty at all and we just made to many mistakes against a good team, we play Petersburg at Shepherd Stadium on wednesday and Petersburg has already one several games this year. Andrew has another swimmeet at the Meadowbrook Country Club tonight, I am not sure what time it starts. Also Donna and Al's internet is back up an running, it seem like everybody from CH who went to the beach had internet problems upon there return. I have posted a photo of Al and Donna coming down the isle after the wedding, this photo is from Erik. I am going to try to put some more photo albums online tonight from the wedding festivities, between the internet being down and baseball I have been extremely ties up. MICKEY

BACK TO WORK TODAY
Well it's back to the old grind today, after doing pretty much of nothing but relaxing for the last 10 days except for the big wedding it's going to be tough to go back to work today. When I got back home last night the internet wasn't working and that put en in a bad mood pretty quick, the problem appears to have been in the device that sends the signal to the laptop, there were some lose connections with that device. The blog was pretty dead yesterday, not a whole lot of visitors and only two comments all day, where was everybody where yall still hungover from vacation. The CH Appomattox team will be in action tonight at Shepherd Stadium against the 2nd best team in the league the Deep Run 2nd entry in the league, there 1st team is the best team in the league so they should have a very strong high school team for the next several years. It is going to be very hot the next couple of days with highs approaching 100 and heat indexes well over 100, you need to drink plenty of fluids. HEADING BACK TO CH TONIGHT
Well after relaxing week on the OBX I will be heading back to CH and back to work on monday. Me and dad will probably leave between 4 and 5 this afternoon for the trip back. Dad will be coming back to the OBX on wednesday though. It was a very hot and humid day down here yesterday but it does appear that it is going to be a bit cooler today. Last night we went back to the Black Pelican for supper and it was as good as it was earlier in the week when we went, I got the ribs last night and they were very good. I think Scott got home around 7pm last night and I am sure that he will have some comments for the blog about his long trip home. Al and Donna went to the motorcycle races last night at the Virginia Motor Speedway, he will probably post some photos from that event later today. My ear is still has water in it, it doesn't hurt but I can't here much out of it though. Keith how is your ear doing, is it better and did that stuff you bought at Walgreens help it any. I think that we are going to go down to the The Dunes for lunch today, they have a pretty good lunch buffet on sunday. I have posted a photo taken on top of the Wright Brothers Memorial earlier in the week, Scott set the timer on his camera and race to get back into the photo. Carl Edwards won yesterday Busch race at New Hampshire, today the Nextel Cup driver tackle the New Hampshire track. Well I have to go burn a few calories. MICKEY

EVERYBODY HEADING HOME
Well after a very eventful week on the OBX everybody has started to head home. Keith left last night before supper and Scott, Joy, Dusty, and Scottie left this morning at about 7:15am on the way back to Georgia. Al, Donna and Julianne will be leaving later this morning and me and dad will be leaving sunday afternoon heading back to CH. Last night we went to the Lone Cedar for supper and while we were there a pretty good storm passed by while we were eating dinner. It looks like is going to be warm again on the OBX with heat indexes around 100 again today. Looking ahead to to next week in CH it looks like the oven will be on with temps in the mid to upper 90's all week. Ryan Newman won the pole position for sunday's Nextel Cup race at New Hampshire. I have posted a photo of mom, Donna, Joy and Julianne on Jockey's Ridge taken earler this week. I will be posting some new weeding photos when I get back to CH. MICKEY

A RAINY MORNING ON THE OBX
Well today is the last day that everybody will be here at the beach together and it looks like the weather might keep up us off the beach today. There is a steady rain falling right now and there is a 60% chance of rain today. Hopefully it will clear up enough for us to be able to go the beach this afternoon for a few hours, if not it looks like everybody might get some shopping in today. It was a very nice day on the beach yesterday despite the H2O temp being 57, with the heat index being over 100 the water felt very refreshing. Last night we all went down to Jimmy's Seafood Buffet for supper and stuffed ourselves. The food was pretty good but I thought it overcrowded for the size of the building, it felt like all the other tables were right on top of you. Also yesterday it was determined that the lucky dog was not consumed friday at dinner and that it was consumed yesterday at lunch by you guessed it Leeza and Brady and they didn't seem to mine that it was a lucky dog. I have also enclose a photo of Keith using his head as a hatrack. The Nextel Cup Series visits New Hampshire this weekend, maybe Kenseth will take Gordon out this weekend in a little payback. CH also will be back in action in the Appomattox League tonight against Dinwiddie weather permitting, maybe Lee will get to pitch a little more tonight. Also it won't be long now until STOOPID FACTZ returns. MICKEY

AN EVENTFUL DAY AT THE BEACH
I will have to say that wednesday was very eventful day at the beach. In the morning a large portion of our group went over to see the Bodie Island Lighthouse, it was the first time that the Georgia contingent had seen the lighthouse. After visiting the lighthouse they headed by to Kill Devil Hills to go out on the beach. While they were visiting the lighthouse Keith arrived on the OBX. Well I have say our entire group(12 of us) headed over to the beach, me included I think I have been on the beach more this year than the last two combined. I think we stayed on the beach for about three hours or so and a few people picked up a few injuries. Dusty and Scottie are probably a bit sore as the showed everybody on the beach the wrong way to use a skimboard and I have say that it wasn't to pretty. Dad picked up a sore knee when Dusty lost control of his skimboard and it crashed into dad's knee, besides that it was a pretty good day on the beach. After going to the beach it was time for supper and that means it was time to see if anybody got a lucky dog, were not sure who got but as you can see by the photo there were several candidacy for it. After supper we decided that we would go over to Jockey's Ridge and climb the sandune and I don't I have ever seen so many people there and we even ran into some people from CH there. Well after climbing the dune and seeing a pretty nice sunset it was time to head back to the car. Well on the way back to the car several members of the group decide that they want to have a race sown the sandune, a couple of them this morning are probably thinking that wasn't to good of an idea. Scott and Dusty crashed pretty hard at the bottom of the dune, although we don't have any photos of that we do have couple of photos that Al took of the races. In all it was good day on the OBX. I also understand that Lee made his Appomattox League pitching debut last night, from what I heard CH split a pair with Manchester. Well I going to check on the wounded next door. MICKEY

NO BEACH TUESDAY
We didn't make it to the beach on tuesday which was ok with me, three days in row just might have been to much for me anyway. We did go and do a little shopping before Al, Donna, and Julianne got here yesterday afternoon, I didn't by anything but Scott and Joy bought a few things. Last night all 10 of us went down to the Black Pelican for supper and I got the prime rib and it was very good, most of the rest of the group got pizza and by all of the empty plates there's must have been pretty good also. Keith is coming down here to OBX later this morning, hopefully he will make down before we head to the beach. We will be having Bobby's Burnt Burgers for supper tonight along with hot dogs for those who like them. The temps down here on the OBX have started to rise the last few days and the humidity as well but it is still not as hot as it is back in CH. Scott just returned from his run and I am getting to go so I will talk to everybody later. MICKEY

DAY 2 AT THE BEACH
Well for the 2nd straight day Mickey made it over to the ocean, the ocean was a bit calmer yesterday and it also was a bit warmer with the H2O temp of 74. Today however there is an increased chance of rip currents which may cause the officials down here to put the red flags up, I also still have water in my ear so everything sounds muffled to me. Me, Scott, and Scottie went down to the Wal-Mart yesterday to pick up few items, one which was a football which threw some on the beach yesterday and there were some very questionable arm in the group. Last night for supper we brought a combo pack of food from the High Cotton BBQ and it was pretty good, there was a little bit of everything in the combo pack. Last night after supper we went over to the Wright Brothers Memorial and took a few photos of the memorial and of the sunset last night, I have posted a couple of photos from over at the memorial. Dad says that one of the photos speaks for it self. Al, Donna, and Julianne are coming down to the OBX today and I think we are going to the Black Pelican for supper tonight. Well I have to go me and Scott are getting ready to go running. MICKEY

A NICE STEAK DINNER
I hate to make everybody so hungry this morning but on our first day at the beach Joy and Scott made us a great steak dinner. We had salad, baked potato, steak and some dinner rolls. I have posted a few photos of Joy and Scott cooking the meal and a photo of the finished product also. I have to say Joy was doing most of the cooking, Scott was in charge of the already cooked dinner rolls bought at the store. The food was very good and there weren't to many leftovers but Leeza and Brady were happy to get little bit of steak. When Keith, Al, and Donna get here we are going to have hamburgers and hot dogs. I even made it down to the ocean yesterday for the first time this year and the water was very nice, there was some very good waves and the H2O temp was 72. However I do now have water stuck my right ear to go along with all my other ailments, my big toe is much better but my back is still pretty sore. It looks like it might be a bit warmer today here at the beach which will be ok with me, it was a bit cool on the beach yesterday. Jeff Gordon won yesterday's Nascar race in Chicago wrecking Matt Kenseth with a few laps to go to pick up the victory, Jeff Burton was the highest finishing driver from VA finishing 2nd. Well I have to go burn off my steak dinner. MICKEY
