The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be back in action tonight at 5pm against the Highland Springs Springers, the Colonials will also be at home on Tuesday at 6pm against the Prince George Royals. The Virginia baseball team lost the there 2nd game in a row yesterday to Miami 7-5, fellow blogger Keith and Andrew went up to see this game. The Cavs are 19-2 overall and 5-2 in the ACC, the Cavs will face Towson Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling to North Carolina next weekend. Kyle Busch lead 378 of the 500 laps at Bristol to pick up another win, teammate Denny Hamlin came home 2nd. The Sprint Cup Series returns to Virginia next weekend at the Martinsville Speedway. I am a bit sore this morning from cutting the grass yesterday morning, the problem is from trying to start the mower and my left knee is hurting a bit as well probably from my treadmill not running correctly. The Richmond Renegades won there final game of the season and maybe the final game in the there history last night 4-3 in OT over the Knoxville Ice Bears. The Gades players that were still here played very hard and gave it everything they had something I cant say the owner of the team did since he traded away several players in the last month of the season that would have helped this team make the playoffs. The Gades chances of making the playoffs ended when Fayetteville drubbed Twin City 9-0. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team suffered it's 1st loss of the season yesterday falling to Miami 4-3, the Cavs lead this game 3-0 before giving up 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning. The Cavs will try to win the series this afternoon against the Hurricanes. Well fellow blogger Scott and his family will be heading back to Georgia this morning, hopefully we see them again in a few months down at the beach. After todays games in NCAA basketball tournament there will be 16 teams left in the field, since Wake Forest got knocked out on Friday my chance of winning Andrews contest are not very good. Well the weather finally was nice enough for baseball even though it was a bit on the cool side but the Colonials fell to L.C. Bird 10-6. We simply just walked to many batters to win the game, we did some good things in the game but as I have said before there is no defense for the walk. We will be back in action on Monday at home as well against Highland Springs. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team is now 19-0 after knocking off Miami 9-4 last night, the Cavs will go for there 20th straight win today against Miami. My NCAA basketball bracket is now shot after Wake Forest was upset last night by Cleveland State 84-69, after only missing 1 game the first day I had a miserable day of picks yesterday. The Richmond Renegades lost 5-3 at Twin City last night just about ending there chances of making the playoffs, the Gades still have a shot but they would have to have some help from Twin City. Mark Martin captured his 2nd pole of the season edging Ryan Newman for the top spot at Bristol yesterday, now he just needs a little luck to pick up his 1st win with Hendrick Motorsports. The VCU Rams put up a good fight against UCLA but just came up a bit short falling to the Bruins 65-64, at times the Rams played well but in the end they just turned the ball over to much to win. The Virginia baseball team will open up a series today against Miami, the Cavs are 18-0 and are looking to extend there winning streak against a very good Miami team. Hopefully the rain we had last night will not prevent us from having are 1st game of the season today against L.C. Bird, we were suppose to play last Friday against Varina but the rain washed that game out. The Richmond Renegades lost to the Huntsville Havoc last night in OT 3-2 keeping there faint playoff hopes alive. The Gades scored 2 gaols in the 3rd period to tie the game a 2 but fell on a powerplay goal in OT, the Gades will be at Twin City tonight. The Colonial Heights girls softball team is now 2-0 after beating Collegiate 6-3. Well today is the first day of Spring however it isn't going to feel like Spring with a high in the low 50's expected, by Sunday it should be in the 60's. The NCAA basketball tournament starts today and both school from Virginia will be in action today. The VCU Rams will face the UCLA Bruins tonight and from what I hear all those Rowdy Rams are ready for tonights game. The Radford Highlanders will also be in action against the North Carolina Tar Heels this afternoon, UNC is a #1 seed while Radford is a #16 seed. The Richmond Renegades will be in Huntsville tonight to face the Havoc, the Gades pretty much need to win there final three games to make the playoffs which will be a very tough task for this team. I think there chances would have been much better a few weeks ago before they started unloading players. The Virginia baseball team is now 18-0 after winning two more games yesterday, the Cavs beat Canisus yesterday 11-3 and the also beat Wagner 5-2 as well. The Cavs return to ACC play tomorrow when the Miami Hurricanes visit UVA. In high school baseball action yesterday Thomas Dale fell to James River in 8 innings 3-2, the Knights will now be off until district play starts on Tuesday. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team is now 16-0 after beating Marshall yesterday 5-4, the Cavs had rally to win this game they were down 4-1 entering the bottom of the 7th inning. The Cavs will go for win #17 today when they face Canisus. Fellow blogger Scott and his family are here in town for a few days, Scott's grandmother passed away yesterday morning at Colonial Heights Living Center. They will be staying at Al & Donna's house while they are here. Me Ma Evelyn's condition is about the same, she has a couple of therapists that are working with her. On a baseball scheduling note the Varina baseball game that was originally scheduled for March 13 will now be played on Friday April 24 instead of next Friday. My arm is a little sore this morning because I threw BP yesterday for the 1st time in about 6 days, my arm was a bit out sync, I need to throw about 5 times a week to keep it in good shape. It looks like the weather here in CH will be very nice today with a high around 70, however there is another chance of rain tomorrow which is not very good for Fridays baseball game. MICKEY

I hope everybody has a Happy St. Patrick's Day and don't forget to wear your green. I can't believe it but it is still raining here in Colonial Heights this morning but there is some light at the end of the tunnel, it looks like after today the weather will improve greatly over the next few days. We might be able to get back on the baseball field by Thursday for practice but it may not be until Friday and we have a game that day. Speaking of games the game scheduled for last Friday with Varina looks like it has been rescheduled for next Friday which will give us 4 games next week in 5 days, that sure is allot of baseball for 1 week. Mom and Dad said Me Ma Evelyn looked much better yesterday, they are going to some more tests on her today, hopefully she will continue to improve each day. Well Me Ma Evelyn's condition is about the same as it was yesterday, there are some procedures that they would like to do on her but with her recent heart surgery they can't do them. She is on the 2nd floor at Johnston Willis Hospital and they are going to run some more tests on her today. The VCU Rams will face the UCLA Bruins in Philadelphia in this years NCAA basketball tournament, the other team in tournament from Virginia the Radford Highlanders will face the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Virginia Cavaliers and Florida State Seminoles baseball series was washed out again yesterday and now the the rest of the series has been canceled, the Cavs will face Marshall and Canisus during the week before facing Miami at home next weekend. The Richmond Renegades kept the playoff hopes alive yesterday with a 6-3 win over Twin City, the Gades have three games left and two of those are on the road and they pretty much need to win all of them to make the playoffs. The weather continues to cause problems with our baseball practice schedule and our game schedule, we probably won't be able to get back on the field for practice until at least Wednesday if not Thursday and then we have another game scheduled for Friday and it looks like we are going to get some more rain this afternoon. For all of you people who read Mickey's Place and don't already know Me Ma Evelyn had a stroke yesterday morning and is now in the hospital at Johnston Willis in Chesterfield. She had only been out of the hospital from her heart surgery less than than day when she suffered a stroke at the Colonial Heights Living Center yesterday morning. She was doing so well after heart surgery only to have this happen to her, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. The Virginia Cavalier baseball game yesterday with Florida State was rained out and they scheduled to play a double header today but looking at the weather forecast I don't think they will play today either. The Richmond Renegades have to win today or there chances of making the playoffs are just about done, the Twin City Cyclones will be in town today. The weather sure isn't helping helping our baseball situation at all, there is a 100% chance of rain today and with all the rain we have already have had I doubt we will be able to get on the field before Wednesday this week and we have another game scheduled for Friday but it's suppose to rain again then as well. At the rate we are going our 1st game of the season might be a Central District game. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team is now 15-0 after pounding Florida State on Friday 15-2, the Cavs have been getting tremendous pitching performances from its starters and they are pounding the baseball. The Cavs will face Florida State again today at 1pm. Our baseball game scheduled with Varina yesterday was rained out and has yet to be rescheduled which means it may not be due to scheduling conflicts, our season opener is now next Friday against L.C. Bird. The Richmond Renegades were beaten badly last night by the Fayetteville FireAntz 6-1, the Gades scored the 1st goal of the game and that was it. The owner of this team has given up and doesn't want this team to make the payoffs, he has made the coach of the team make several moves in the last few weeks which were not in the best interest of the team thats for sure. The future of hockey in Richmond sure doesn't look to good thats for sure, maybe someone else will bring a team to the city with a owner that isn't so shady. Virginia Tech run in the ACC basketball tournament has come to an end at the hands of UNC 79-76, I thought the Hokies were going to pull this one out but just came up short. I did go down to Wal-Mart this morning and I have to say the donuts were very good again this morning. It looks like it is going to be another very wet day here in the Heights. MICKEY
