HAPPY HALLOWEEN, STEWART WINS AT MARTINSVILLE
First off I want to wish all you fellow bloggers HAPPY HALLOWEEN, it could get a little wet for all those Trick or Treaters out there tonight. Well after a [promising start to the season the Washington Redskins may be the worst team in the NFL right now, they simply aren't doing anything right offensively or defensively. Tony Stewart won yesterdays Nascar wreckfest at Martinsville holding off Jimmie Johnson for the win and with the win Stewart moves into 2nd place in the point standings just 8 points behind Carl Edwards. It appears Brian Vickers wan in about half of the cautions yesterday have big run ins with Jamie McMaurray & Matt Kenseth with Kenseth run in with Vickers ending his chance for the championship this year. My allergies are continuing to give me problems especially in the mornings. MICKEY

THE CHIEF IS BACK IN THE LEAD
Well after 9 weeks of the contest The Chief is back in the lead after Julianne and Chiz had a bit of trouble this week. The Chief, Bobby, Murph, Scott & Lee all went 18-7 this week while Phillips had the toughest week going 12-13. The Chief has a 3 game lead on over Julianne, Chiz, Bobby and Murph with Dusty and Scott just 4 games back. The top 9 players are within 7 games of 1st place. There is a good battle going on for 10th place between John, Tom, Glen, Erik and Lee who are all 10 games back. This week could big week in the contest with some tough games to pick, I think after this week the contenders and the pretenders will have been separated. MICKEY

QUALIFYING RAINED OUT, REDSKINS AT BUFFALO
Qualifying for today's Sprint Cup race at Martinsville was rained out yesterday so they will line up by the point standings for today, Carl Edwards will start form the pole with Matt Kenseth joining him on the front row. In the NFL today the Washington Redskins will be on the road at Buffalo, the Bills are 4-2 so I think it is very winnable game for the Skins but they are going have to play better than they did last week. The East Carolina Pirates beat Tulane 34-13 setting up a big game at East Carolina against Southern Miss, both teams are 3-1 in the East Division of CUSA. Well it looks like we will have a new leader in the Mickey College Football Pick-Em Contest, I will have the updated standings out a little later this morning. Well after starting the season winning 7 straight games the Capitals have now dropped 2 straight. MICKEY

CARDINALS WIN THE WORLD SERIES
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers last night 6-2 in game 7 last night to win the World Series. The Cardinals were the team that would just never go away, they just found away to win and get the job done. It was another tough night on the football filed for the Colonials falling to Prince George 55-14, down at the beach Manteo beat Camden 69-7 and Currituck beat First Flight 60-0. The East Carolina Prates will face the Tulane Green Wave today trying to keep there hopes of playing in CUSA's championship game again this year, a win today would set up a show down with Southern Miss next week. They are suppose to qualify today at Martinsville for this weeks Sprint Cup race but it appears that they might have to lineup on points because of some very inclement weather. Well it is a very cold rainy day here in Colonial Heights, if feels like winter has arrived. MICKEY

VIRGINIA UPSETS MIAMI 28-21, CARDS FORCE A GAME 7
The Virginia Cavaliers football team upset the Miami Hurricanes last night in Miami 28-21. The Cavs jumped on the Hurricanes early and lead at the half 17-7 and then lead in the 2nd half 28-14 before coming away with the win. The offense stayed very balanced last night throwing and running the ball well & the defense played outstanding all night coming up with several big defensive stops. Next week the Cavs will travel to Maryland. In high school football action tonight the Colonial Heights Colonials will be at home against Prince George, hopefully the rain will hold off for tonight's game. The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers last night 10-9 in extra innings last night forcing a game 7 tonight in St. Louis. The Cards rallied form 2 runs down in both the 9th & 10th innings and won it in the 11th, in fact they were down to there last strike in the 9th. In the NHL the Caps lost there 1st game of the season on the road at Edmonton falling to the Oilers 2-1. This week the Nascar Sprint Cup Series returns to the Martinsville Speedway. MICKEY

VIRGINIA AT MIAMI, WORLD SERIES RAINED OUT
The Virginia Cavaliers football team will be looking to rebound from last weeks embarrassing lost to N.C. State tonight at Miami. It will be a very tough task for the very young Cavaliers because Miami seem to be playing its best football of the season the last few weeks. All the picks are now in for this weeks contest and everybody had them in by 9pm last night which was good, I did have to push a few people to speed them up though. Well game 6 of the World Series was rained out last night in St. Louis, they will try again tonight with the Rangers leading the series 3-2. The Washington Capitals will be looking to stay undefeated on the young season tonight in Edmonton when they face the Oilers, the Caps are the only undefeated left in the NHL. The warm weather end today here in the Heights with a high 77 expected before the cold air comes in later tonight and tomorrows high is only going to be 52 with the lows dropping into the 30's tomorrow night. Well they are going to lay fellow blogger Scott's dad to rest this afternoon in Matoaca, Scott and the rest of the family arrived in town lat night. MICKEY

I HAVE A BRUISED HEAL
While playing with Mozart last night I injured my left heal when I backed into a coffee table and hit square on my left heal bone and yes it did leave a mark. Also my sinuses where bothering me all night and I didn't sleep to well either. I am missing allot of peoples picks as well this week so I am hoping those people will get on the ball today and sen there picks in. The Texas Rangers will look to win the World Series tonight. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH, TEXAS 1 WIN AWAY FROM WINNING WINNING THE WORLD SERIES
Well today is fellow blogger Keith Goulder's birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH. The Texas Rangers are just 1 win away from winning this years World Series after beating the St. Louis Cardinals last night 4-2 and now lead the series 3-2 with game 6 set for tomorrow night in St. Louis. It looks like it is going to be in the 70's the next 3 days before dropping back into the 50's this weekend with a chance of rain on Friday. MICKEY

GREEN BAY 7-0, RANGERS EVEN UP WORLD SERIES
The Green Bay Packers improved to 7-0 yesterday beating the Minnesota Vikings 33-27, Green Bay didn't play very well but just good enough to win and are off next week before heading out to San Diego the following week. The Washington Redskins appear to be in some serious trouble after starting the season out well the Skins lost to Carolina 33-20. The Skins just looked bad all day and the injuries are continuing to mount and they appear to be like Virginia they don't have a QB. The Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals last night 4-0 to even up the World Series at 2 games a piece with game 5 set for tonight in Texas, GO RANGERS. Clint Bowyer won yesterdays Sprint Cup race at Talladega passing Jeff Burton on the last lap to pick up the win, Carl Edwards had another pretty good run and now has a 14 point lead over Matt Kenseth in the battle for the Sprint Cup. CHIZ JOINS JULIANNE AT THE TOP OF THE STANDINGS
Well we have tie at the top of the standings after week 8 of the contest between Julianne & Chiz with The Chief just 1 game back and Guy just 2 games back and 3 more people just 4 games back. Glen had the best week going 15-8 while Biff had the roughest week going 10-13. This upcoming week there appears to be some tough games so there could be allot changes in the standings next week, I don't know whether there can be as many upsets next week as there where this week though. Also on a very sad note fellow player Scott's father & Joy's father in law and Dusty's grandfather in law passed away last night in Georgia after a brief illness. MICKEY

IT'S TOUGH TO BE A VIRGINIA FAN, GREEN BAY AT MINNESOTA
One week after upsetting Georgia Tech the Virginia Cavaliers lost to a note so good N.C. State team 28-14 at home sending all Cavaliers fans home in a not so good mood. The Virginia offense struggled terribly against a defense that was suppose to be pretty banged and not so good but the Cavs offense made them look like the Monsters of the Midway. There was some pretty questionably play calling by the offensive coordinator and the fact that he can't decide who the QB should be isn't helping the situation at all. Well it doesn't get any easier for the Cavs this week since they have a Thursday night game on the road at Miami. The East Carolina Pirates beat Navy 38-35 yesterday and will return home next week against Tulane. Today in the NFL the Green Bay Packers will look to go to 7-0 on the road at Minnesota, the Vikings come into the game with a 1-5 record. The Washington Redskins will be on the road at Carolina today, I think the Skins are going to have a tough time stopping Cam Newton today. Mark Martin captured the pole for today's Nascar race at Talladega, today's could go a long way in determining this years champion. The St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Texas Rangers last night 16-7 to take a 2-1 lead in the World Series, Albert Pujols lead the way hitting 3 HR'S in the game. The Washington Capitals are the only undefeated team left in the NHL after pounding the Detroit Red Wings 7-1 in Washington last night, the Caps will go for win #8 on the season at Edmonton on Thursday night. I will release the updated standings and next weeks games later this morning. MICKEY

HEADING TO UVA TODAY
Well I am going to be heading to UVA today to watch the Virginia Cavaliers face the N.C. State Wolfpack this afternoon looking to build on last weeks win over Georgia Tech. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 3:30pm if anybody wants to watch it. The East Carolina Pirates are on the road today at Navy, this will be a very tough task for the Pirates who were crushed by Navy last year. The Colonial Heights Colonials lost last night on the road at Dinwiddie 45-7, the Colonials will return home next Friday night to face Prince George. Down at the beach last night Manteo beat Plymouth 46-40 while Bertie beat First Flight 36-27. They will play game 3 of the World Series tonight in Texas with the series tied up at 1-1, GO RANGERS. The only 2 undefeated teams in the NHL will face off tonight in Washington when the Capitals face the Detroit Red Wings, the Caps are 6-0 and the Red Wings are 5-0. It looks like allot of people got off to some rough starts in this weeks pick-em contest last night when Louisville upset Rutgers and Syracuse stunned West Virginia. MICKEY

RANGERS EVEN UP SERIES
The Texas Rangers got 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning last night in St. Louis last night to come away with 2-1 win over the Cardinals and even up the series at 1 game a piece with game 3 set for tomorrow in Texas. The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at the always exciting Talladega Superspeedway this weekend which is like to be a pivotal race in the race for the Sprint Cup. The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be on the road at Dinwiddie tonight to face the Generals, I don't think I am going to make the trip tonight. It is a very cool 46 degrees here in Colonial Heights this morning on its way to 63 with the low dropping into the 30's tonight, my body hasn't go use to this cold weather yet. I sure am glad that it is Friday. MICKEY

WORLD SERIES STARTS TONIGHT, CAPS UNDEFEATED
The 2011 World Series starts tonight in St. Louis when the Texas Rangers face the St. Louis Cardinals in game 1 of the World Series, the way the Cardinals have been playing I would have to say that the are the favorite to win this years World Series. The Washington Capitals are off to there best starts in franchise history after last nights 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers, the Caps are now 5-0 and will go for win # 6 at Philadelphia tomorrow night. Well it is raining pretty steady here in the Heights this morning and there is a pretty good chance of t-storms this afternoon and it is going to be about 10 degrees cooler today than it was yesterday. MICKEY

SOME RAIN ON THE WAY
Well it looks like some rain is on the way tonight and tomorrow here in the Heights. The amount of rain that we get depends on how close a coastal low is to the coast. A couple of local weatherman say we may get a couple inches of rain while another one says we wont get much at all, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Also some much cooler temps will be on the way as well with highs in the low 60's after tomorrow and lows in the lower 40's, BRRR. Not much else happening around here so I guess I am going to go to work. MICKEY

PACKERS NOW 6-0, REDSKINS LOSE
The Green Bay Packers improved to 6-0 yesterday with a 24-3 win over the Rams ans are now the only undefeated team in the NFL after the 49er's beat the Lions. The Packers played well in the 1st half but didn't play well at all in the 2nd half, next week the Packers travel to Minnesota. The Redskins fell to the Eagles 20-13, the Skins just had to many turnovers to overcome to win the game. The Cardinals beat the Brewers last night 12-6 to win the NLCS and will now face the Texas Rangers in the World Series starting on Wednesday. It was a very tragic end to the IRL season at Las Vegas yesterday afternoon when Dan Wheldon was killed in a violent 15 car crash, Dan Wheldon was 33 years old. MICKEY

JULIANNE TAKE OVER THE TOP SPOT
Julianne has taken over the top spot by herself by going 17-7 this week breaking a four way ties at the top of the standings, me & Guy also joined here this week going 17-7 as well. Julianne has a 1 game lead over The Chief and 2 game lead over Chiz with Guy just 3 games back. The top 12 players are within 8 games of the lead and there is a log jam between 13-18 with just 1 game separating the group and then there is the rest of the field. Rick had the toughest week going 9-15 and is now tied with Keith & George. Also Julianne now has 3 wins in the tiebreaker with Mickey and Guy with 2 wins. There are some more tough games this weeks but I think there are some easy ones as well. MICKEY

VIRGINIA STINGS GEORGIA TECH, TEXAS HEADING TO THE WORLD SERIES
The Virginia Cavaliers upset the #12 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets yesterday 24-21 yesterday and with the win improved to 4-2 on the season. Virginia jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead only to have Georgia Tech come back an tie the game at 14-14 before UVA scored the next 10 points and held on for a 24-21 win. I thought the Cavaliers defense played extremely well yesterday and the offense pretty much ran it down Georgia Tech's throat most of the game. The Cavs will be back at home next Saturday against the N.C. State Wolfpack. The East Carolina Pirates also picked up a win yesterday knocking off a very bad Memphis team 35-17, the Pirates will be at Navy next week. In the NFL today the Green Bay Packers will be looking to go 6-0 with a victory over the Rams while the Redskins look to stat in 1st place in the NFL East when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Nations Capital. The Texas Rangers won the ALCS series last night with a 15-5 win over the Detroit Tigers and with the win on to the World Series. The NLCS resumes tonight in Milwaukee with the Cardinals leading the series 3-2, I think the Cards will win tonight. Matt Kenseth won last nights race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway holding off Kyle Busch for the win. Carl Edwards now leads the race for the championship by 5 points over Kevin Harvick with Kenseth just 7 points back. MICKEY

GEORGIA TECH AT VIRGINIA
The Virginia Cavaliers will be back at home this afternoon the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come to town with there high powered triple option offense. The Cavaliers will have to play much better than the have all year to beat Georgia Tech that is for sure. I am not going to today's game but I will be watching it on television and i might try to get to UVA next week. The East Carolina Pirates will try to get back on track on the road at Memphis, also it appears that the Pirates did not get invited to join the Big East. Also it appears Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference will merge into 1 conference for football and there still trying figure out what to do for the other sports, they may stat as 1 or go back to 2 conferences for other sports. It was a tough night for the Colonials last night on Homecoming as Hopewell beat Colonial Heights 61-13. Down at the beach Manteo beat Perquimans 55-8 while First Flight lost Bertie 47-22. In the NLCS the Cardinals beat the Brewers 7-1 to take a 3-2 series lead heading back to to Milwaukee, the ALCS resumes tonight Texas with Rangers leading the series 3-2. Carl Edwards won last nights Nationwide Series race last night at Charlotte holding off Kyle Busch for the win, the Sprint Cup Series will be back in action tonight at Charlotte. Mickey

IT'S HOMECOMING TONIGHT IN THE HEIGHTS
The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be back in action tonight against the Hopewell Blue Devils and it is Homecoming tonight in the Heights. It looks like the rain will have moved out of the area by game time and the temps will be in the 60's at the start of the game in the upper 50's by the end of the game. The Detroit Tigers stayed alive in the ALCS last night beating the Rangers 7-5, the Rangers still lead the series 3-2 as the series heads back to Texas. In the NLCS the Brewers evened up the series a 2 games a piece heading into tonight's game with the Cards in St. Louis, the Brewers won 4-2 last night. Tony Stewart captured the pole last night for Saturday nights race at Charlotte, Matt Kenseth will join him on the front row. My allergies are continuing to bother me and now right ear is a bit clogged up again and that's not good at all, the last time it was clogged it stayed that way for about 3 months. MICKEY

TEXAS TAKES A 3-1 SERIES LEAD, CARDS A 2-1 LEAD
The Texas Rangers had to go into extra innings again last night but came away with a 7-3 win and now lead the ALCS 3-1 with game 5 scheduled for tonight in Detroit. Th St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 last night to take a 2-1 series lead and with game 4 tonight in St. Louis. Well I went to bed a bit early last night to try to catch up some sleep but I don't think that helped at all, I think I had the worst night sleep that I have had in about 2 months, I just kept waking up about every other hour. Several people read the blog daily expressed concern about why there was no blog entry yesterday, well I have to say that I just was to busy putting in everybody entry for this weeks games. Also for for you information tomorrow night is Homecoming here in Colonial Heights, so if you are in town come on out and watch the Colonials face Hopewell. MICKEY

LIONS NOW 5-0, CARDS EVEN UP SERIES
The Detroit Lions are now 5-0 after beating the Chicago Bears last night 24-13 at Ford Field, with the win the Lions are now tied with Packers with the nest record in the NFL and they are both in the same division. The Cardinals evened up the NLCS at 1 game a piece last night crushing the Brewers 12-3, in the ALCS the Rangers took a 2-0 series lead after beating the Tigers 7-3. Also yesterday the NBA cancelled it's first 2 weeks of the season because the owners and players could not reach an agreement, with the tough economic times everybody is facing I don't think its time to have a lockout/strike because it is only going to hurt themselves. It looks like we are going to get some rain late this afternoon into tonight and it could be heavy at times. The picks appear to be very slow coming in this week. MICKEY

GREEN BAY NOW 5-0
The Green Bay Packers fell behind 14-0 last night to the Atlanta Falcons before rallying for a 25-14 win over the Falcons. The Falcons scored on there 1st two drives of the game but didn't score anymore, the Packers will return home next week to face the Rams. The Milwaukee Brewers won game 1 of the NLCS yesterday 9-6, the ACLS was rained out and will resume today. Jimmie Johnson won yesterdays Nascar race at Kansas holding off Kasey Kahne for the win and with the win moved a little closer to the top of the chase standings and I have to sat I wouldn't bet against him. Also today is Me Ma Eveyln's birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME MA EVELYN. MICKEY
