Well after 5 weeks of the contest Bobby has a 1 game lead over Chiz, Tom, and Steve. This week Jonathan and Guy had the best week going 18-5 while Phillips had the toughest time going 10-13 and dropped all the way to 14th place. The top 11 players are within 6 games of 1st place and the top 20 players are within 10 games of 1st. The battle for the bottom spot in the standings is starting to heat up a bit as well with Gerald, George, Dan and Dusty all fighting for the spot. It looks like there will be some more tough games next week which could further separate the contenders form the pretenders. MICKEY

ANOTHER ROUGH DAY FOR THE CAVS, PACKERS LOOK TO REBOUND
Th Virginia Cavaliers lead 24-19 at the half against La Tech only to have the Bulldogs only to have the Bulldogs score the next 24 points to take a 44-24 before the Cavs made a later rally. However the rally cam up a bit short and the Cavs lost 44-38. Next week the Cavs travel down to Duke where I am sure they will be underdogs again. It looks like Bobby has moved back into 1st place in our football contest by himself with a group just 1 game behind, I will have all the updated standings out later. In the NFL today the Packers will be at home against the Saints while the Redskins will be on the road at Tampa. Denny Hamlin is on the pole for today Sprint Cup race in Dover edging Clint Bowyer for the top spot. Joey Logano won yesterdays Nationwide race at Dover holding off Paul Menard for the win. MICKEY

VIRGINIA BACK AT HOME, COLONIALS FALL
The Virginia Cavaliers football team will be back at home this afternoon against undefeated Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs are 3-0 and are coming off a 52-24 drubbing of Illinois, the Cavs defense will have there hands full today for sure. The Colonial Heights football lost to Petersburg last night 18-9, the Colonials played well but just came up short. The Colonials will be back at home again next week for Homecoming against Matoaca. Down at the beach First Flight beat Pastquotank 24-14 and Manteo beat South Creek 46-24. They Sprint Cup Series will be at Dover tomorrow and they will qualify this morning weather permitting. I have now officially started Christmas shopping, yes I am a little behind. Have a good day. MICKEY

COLONIALS AT HOME AGAIN TONIGHT, RAIN
The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be at home again tonight against the Petersburg Crimson Wave at 7pm. There is a chance of rain tonight but hopefully it will hold off until after tonight's game. Will the NFL refs returned to action last night to standing ovation in Baltimore, who would have ever though that. This week the Nascar Sprint Cup Series is at Dover, this could be a wildcard race in the chase because of the number of multi car accidents that occur at Dover. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY
Thursday, September 27, 2012
THE REFS ARE BACK
The NFL refs and the NFL have ended there dispute and the regular refs will be back on the field tonight, who would have ever thought the players would be so happy to have the officials back but I think everybody is glad to see them back. Well I did get all the picks before 9pm last night which made me happy, I did have to send out a few reminders but everybody made the deadline. The Colonial Heights football team will be at home again tomorrow night against Petersburg. MICKEY

I STILL NEED PICKS
The picks for this weekends games have been a bit slow coming in this week. I still need about 10 peoples picks for the contest this week. Last week a couple players made it in at the very last minute, hopefully they wont be as late getting them in tonight. MICKEY
Tuesday, September 25, 2012
A TOUGH LOSS FOR THE PACKERS
The Green Bay Packers lost on the last play of the game last night to Seattle 14-12 on another replacement ref debacle. It appeared the Packers had intercepted the ball on the final play of the game only to have receiver steal the ball while players where on the ground. On ref signals touchdown while the other ref signals touch-back. The NFL has become a big joke with these replacement refs. MICKEY

IT'S COLD THIS MORNING
Well its a very cool 48 degrees here in the Heights this morning and the high today is only expected to be around 70 with temp dropping back into mid 40's tonight. The Redskins lost at home yesterday 38-31 to the Bengals, the Skins fell behind early in the game then tied it up only to fall in the end. Tonight the Packers will be on the road at Seattle. Denny Hamlin won yesterday race at New Hampshire and after to races in the chase Jimmie Johnson leads the point standings 1 point over Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin by 7. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

CHIZ AND BOBBY TIED FOR THE LEAD
Well after 4 weeks of the contest Chiz and Bobby are tied for the lead with Tom 1 game back. This week Bobby, Tom, Steve, Chiz and Julianne had the best weeks going 19-5 while Dusty had the roughest week going 12-12. The top 13 players are within 5 games of first place which is pretty good. A couple of players are have strong runs to the top of the standings, newcomer Steve has been consistent all year and now has moved into 5th place while Joy and Julianne are have moved into the top 10. It also looks like the list of pretenders in this years contest is starting to grow a bit. Also Tom has now taking the tiebreaker lead by himself with 2 wins. MICKEY

ANOTHER TOUGH DAY FOR THE CAVALIERS
Well yesterday was another tough day for the Virginia Cavaliers on the football field down in Texas where the Cavaliers lost to TCU 27-7. The Cavaliers have got tot get there offense on track or they are going to continue to struggle. It does not get any easier for the Cavaliers next week when they return home to face Louisiana Tech who drubbed Indiana last night. Also in college football action yesterday North Carolina beat East Carolina 27-6. It looks like we will have a new leader in the Mickey College Football Pick Em Contest again this week, I release the updated standings later this morning. In the NFL today the Redskins will be at home against the Bengals at 1pm, the Packers don't play until tomorrow. This afternoon i will be flipping the channels back and forth between the race and the football game. MICKEY

COLONIALS LOSE ANOTHER CLOSE ONE, VIRGINIA LOOKS TO REBOUND
The Colonial Heights Colonials football team put up a good fight but lost another close one 22-19 to Armstrong last night. The Colonials will be back at home next Friday night against Petersburg. Down at the beach Manteo remained undefeated beating Southside 51-6 and First Flight got beat by Northeastern 47-7. In college football action today the Virginia Cavaliers have another tough game on the road at Texas Christian while East Carolina travels to North Carolina. Jeff Gordon won the pole for this weekends race at New Hampshire edging Kyle Busch for the tops spot. I am not going to do anything today but watch college football. MICKEY

ITS FRIDAY
I sure am glad that is Friday because I need a couple of days of to rest. I watched the 1st half of last nights college game between BYU vs Boise State, I thought it was going to be an offensive game but it was 0-0 at the half and Boise ended up winning it 7-6. The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be at home tonight against Armstrong at 7pm. I am going to work. MICKEY

ALL PICKS ARE NOW IN
Well I am very glad to say that all the picks are now in after a couple of late entries came in after I went to bed. I will send out the master sheet of who everybody picked when I get home from work today. The Colonial Heights JV football game was cancelled last night because Armstrong JV team folded. The Colonials varsity football team will be back at home tomorrow night at 7pm against Armstrong. Well I am going to work. MICKEY
Wednesday, September 19, 2012
A LITTLE FRUSTRATED
I have to say I am a bit frustrated tonight because 2 people still have not gotten there picks in this week. I have say that its not easy running the contest with this many people and its even harder when I don't get all the picks in on time. I have decided to give these 2 people a little more time this week but I don't know much more time I can give them. MICKEY
RAIN YESTERDAY, STILL NEED SOME PICKS
Well we got a pretty good rain here in the Heights yesterday afternoon but we did not have any severe weather in our area. However I did have a bit of a tough time getting home from with all the rain there where quite a few accidents. I still need about 7 peoples picks for this weekends contest, I am hoping everybody will be on time with there picks this week. The Colonial Heights JV football team will be at home tonight, I am going to try to get up there and watch some of there game. MICKEY

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE
Monday, September 17, 2012
KESELOWSKI WINS, REDSKINS LOSE
Brad Keselowsi won the 1st race in the chase yesterday at Chicago in a very ho hum race for sure. Kesleloski now leads the point standings by 3 points over Jimmie Johnson. The Redskins lost on the road at St. Louis falling to the Rams 31-28, the Skins yesterday where there own enemy, the Skins will have there 1st home next weekend against the Seahawks. I think after yesterdays games the NFL needs to do what it takes to get the regular refs back on the job, there where some bad things happening in yesterdays games. Well I have 3 peoples picks in for the contest so far, now I need 23 more. MICKEY

3 WAY TIE AT THE TOP, JONATHAN HAS THE BEST WEEK
Well after three weeks of the contest we have a 3 way ties at the top between Phillips, Chiz, and Bobby with another group of 3 just 1 game back. Chris who was leading going into the week dropped back 7th place and now is 2 games behind. The top 21 players are within 6 games of the lead so if you have a bad week you can really drop fast in the standings. Jonathan who was in 26th place after 2 pretty tough weeks in the contest had the best week going 17-6 and by doing so moved up to 21st place. George had the toughest week and is now in 26th place. Also Joy is having the best showing in years moving up to 9th place. It looks like there are some pretty tough games again next week so there probably will be allot more movement in the standings. VIRGINIA LOOKS BAD, SKINS ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Well I have to say the Virginia football team looked pretty bad at Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets stung the Cavs 56-20 in a game which was not as close as the final score indicated, it really could have been allot worst. The Cavs looked bad on both sides of the ball but it only counts as 1 loss so the Cavs need to regroup and head down to Texas beat TCU. There are lots of changes at the top in Mickey's Pick Em Contest, I will have the updated standings released a little later this morning. The Redskins will be on the road at St. Louis this afternoon to face the Rams. They will also run the 1st race in the chase this afternoon in Chicago. Also today is my birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. MICKEY

VIRGINIA LOOKS FOR AN UPSET, COLONIALS LOSE A TOUGH ONE
The Virginia Cavaliers football will be looking to upset the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this afternoon in Atlanta. The Cavaliers will enter the game at 2-0 while Georgia Tech is enters the game at 1-1, this will be the conference game of the year for the Cavs while Georgia Tech is 0-1 in the conference. The Colonial Heights football team lost a tough one last night falling to Park View South Hill 14-13, the game was tied at 0-0 at the half with 8 turnovers between the 2 teams. Well after 2 games in the contest this weekend things have gotten tight at the top. They will qualify today in Chicago for the 1st race in the chase. Well I think I might tart my Christmas shopping today. Mickey

PACKERS WIN, COLONIALS BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT
The Green Bay Packers picked up there 1st win of the season last night at home beating the Chicago Bears 23-10. The Packers defense was the story of this game, the Packers manhandles the Bears offensive line in the win. The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be back in action at home tonight against Park View South Hill, last night Colonial Heights JV team improved to 2-0 on the season with 16-14 win over Park View. Also in college football action last night Rutgers upset South Florida. The first race in the chase is also this weekend at Chicago. Well it is also my favorite day day of the week, its Friday. MICKEY
Thursday, September 13, 2012
GREEN BAY AT CHICAGO
The Green Bay Packers will be on the road tonight in Chicago to face the Bears and the Packers need to win this game to avoid falling 2 games out of first place in the division. The offense will need to play much better tonight than they did Sunday if they want to win. Well I got all the picks in yesterday for week 3 of the pick em contest and I have say there where some very interesting picks made by some players in the contest. There could be allot more movement at the top after this weekends games. Well I am going to work. MICKEY

REDSKINS WIN PACKERS LOSE
The Washington Redskins opened up the 2012 season yesterday with a 40-32 win over the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans. The Skins jumped on the Saints early offensively and never looked back and the defense pretty much kept the Saints in check until late in the game. It has been a long time since the Skins have scored 40 points. The Green Bay Packers on the other hand did not play as well falling to the 49ers 30-22, the 49ers defense pretty much shut down the Packers offense until late in the game and the 49ers offense pretty much had there way with Packers defense. Have a good day. MICKEY

CHRIS TAKES THE LEAD
Well newcomer to the contest Chris has taken over the lead after week 2 going 16-7 this week and now has a 1 game lead over Phillips, Chiz and Tom who also went 16-7 this week. Murph and Bobby are just 2 games back. The Chief who was leading after week 1 a bit of a tough week going 10-13 in in 7th place just 3 games back and has allot company there with 4 other players. George had the toughest week going 9-14 and all the way to 22nd after being 8th after week 1. There are 18 players with 5 games of 1st place and the top 26 are with 8 games of 1st place. Jonathan has of bit of work to do being 10 games back. There are some pretty tough games again this week as well do goo luck and remember please send you picks back by not later than 9pm on Wednesday. MICKEY

The Virginia Cavaliers football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 17-16 win over Penn State in a game that they really should not have won that's for sure. The Cavs defense played well but the offense really struggled and turned the ball over way to much and it didn't hurt that the Penn State kicker had a bit of a rough day. The Cavs will have to step there game up next week at Georgia Tech or they will get blown out. Speaking of stepping it up several players in my pick em contest did that this week while several had a very rough week, there will be some changes at the top that's for sure. Today in the NFL the Packers will be at home against the 49ers while the Redskins travel to New Orleans. Clint Bowyer won last nights race at Richmond which ended in the early hours of the morning, I don't much about lat nights race because I was in the bed before the half way mark. I do know that Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne made the chase as wildcards. I will have the updated standings and next weeks games out in a little while. MICKEY

PENN STAT AT VIRGINIA
The Virginia football team will be back at home today against Penn State at Noon looking for another win. I am not going to today's game but I will be watching it on TV rooting for the Cavs. I also will be watching several other games as well. In high school football action last night Manteo beat First Flight 34-21 while the Colonials are off until next week. Kevin Harvick won last nights Nationwide race at RIR. Dale Earnhardt Jr. captured the pole for tonight's Sprint Cup race edging Jeff Gordon for the top spot tonight. There is a good chance of t-storms tonight in Richmond but hopefully they will be tonight's race in. Well I am going to run. MICKEY

SOME COOLER WEATHER ON THE WAY
Some much cooler weather is on the way to Colonial Heights on Sunday and Monday when temperatures will not even make it out of the 70's with low in the lowers 60's. The Colonial Heights football team is off tonight before returning to action at home next Friday night, most of the other high school football teams in the area will be in action tonight. The people at RIR are hoping that the rain will stay away this weekend however it looks like there is a pretty good chance of rain tomorrow night. I sure am glad that is Friday, it has been a very busy week at work. MICKEY

NFL STARTS TONIGHT
The 2012 NFL season will kick off tonight with the Dallas Cowboys visiting the N.Y. Giants and yes the replacement refs will be officiating the game and it looks they will be doing the games for a while. I have a feeling there are going to be some very bad callas made in the 1st few weeks. I still need about 5 more peoples picks for this weeks contest, hopefully I get them all by 9pm tonight. MICKEY

GOOD GAME LAST NIGHT
I have to say last nights Virginia Tech game with Georgia Tech was a very good game to watch last night with both teams defenses looking better than each others offenses with Virginia Tech winning in OT 20-17. Well today is the first day of school here in Colonial Heights and most other school systems in the area, I am sure there allot of unhappy students and teachers this morning. I got some picks in yesterday but I hope I get allot more in today which will make it easier for me tomorrow night. I did sleep better last night but I just didn't get enough it since I stayed up and watched the football game last night. MICKEY

I AM WORKING TODAY
Well I will be working today on Labor Day, I think that I should be off on Labor Day and not working. I have already received 2 peoples picks this weeks games so I still have 24 more to get. In college football tonight Virginia Tech will open up its season at home against Georgia Tech. Denny Hamlin won last nights race in Atlanta holding of Jeff Gordon for the win, I didn't stay up and see the end of the race. I have not slept well at all the last week, hopefully I can get out of that rut soon. MICKEY
