SKINS WIN, PACKERS LOSE
The Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys last night 28-18 winning the NFC East and with the win will host Seattle next Sunday in the NFL Playoffs. It was a very close game right till the end when Dallas QB Tony Romo threw his 3rd int of game. The Packers lost on the road at Minnesota 37-34 and will face Minnesota again in the playoffs next weekend at Green Bay, the game is set for 8pm Saturday night and if I was going to guess it is going to be pretty cold in Green Bay next week. Well today is the final day of 2012 and since I stayed up late last night I doubt I see the New Year come in tonight and since I do have to work tomorrow I am sure I will be in bed by midnight. BIG GAME TONIGHT
Well the NFL regular season comes to an end tonight with the biggest game of the year so far when the Dallas Cowboys visit the Washington Redskins with the winner winning the NFC East. The Skins beat Dallas on Thanksgiving Day surviving a late Dallas comeback. The only way that the Cowboys can make the playoffs is to beat the Redskins while the Skins could still make the playoffs if the Bears and Vikings both lose which is very unlikely. The Vikings will play the Packers with the Pack having allot to play for because if Green Bay wins they will get a bye next week, the Bears are playing Detroit against the Lions. The Skins will know where they stand in there playoff push before tonight's game starts, I am thinking its going to be a winner take all game meaning the only either team gets in is to win tonight. IT'S COLD AGAIN
Well I went out to move the car out the driveway and it was a bit cool this morning. It looks like we will get some more much needed rain tomorrow, at first they where talking like there was going to be some snow with this system but now it it just looks like all rain. This weekend is the final week of the regular season in the NFL and there are some big games this weekend and none of them are bigger than Sunday nights Dallas at Washington game. The winner of that game wins the NFC East and the loser probably will be at home next weekend. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

WELL I HOPE EVERYBODY HAD A MERRY CHRISTMAS
Well I hope everybody had a very Merry Christmas and did not eat to much over the last few days. I think I may have ate a bit to much and need to exercise a few extra times the next few day but by energy level is still down a bit after being sick last week. It looks like there is going to be a pretty good chance of rain today here in the Heights and we need as much rain as we can get. Well I guess I better head to work. MICKEY

REDSKINS NEED A WIN
Well the Green bay Packers clinched a spot in this year NFC Playoffs last weekend by winning the NFC North and if the Redskins want to make the playoffs this year they need to win at Philadelphia forcing a huge showdown at home against Dallas next week. The Redskins, Cowboys, and Giants are all tied for 1st place in the NFC East entering today's games, the Cowboys will be at home against the Saints while the Giants will be in Baltimore. The Packers will be home today against Tennessee. This morning here in Colonial Heights it is a very cold 24 degrees which is as cold as it has been in a long time, it suppose to make it into the 50's later. MICKEY

IT SURE HAS BEEN A VERY LONG WEEK
Well I have to say that week may have been my worst of 2012 getting the flu on Monday and still fighting it here on Friday. I do feel better but I not back to normal yet that is for sure. My biggest problem right now is keeping food down and the lack of good sleep. I try to go to sleep early bu cant sleep god or only sleep for a few hours. My head is also very congested as well but my fever is now pretty much gone which makes me feel better. I did run yesterday on the treadmill and it was very tough, my stamina is juts not there. Hopefully I will continue to get better over the next few days. MICKEY
Thursday, December 20, 2012
BACK TO WORK
Well after missing the last 2 days from work the flu I am heading back in this morning at fr from 100% thats for sure. I am still allot of muscle aches and I am very tired but I am not hurting now where near as bad as I was. My fever has dropped below the 100 degree mark for about the 18 hours. Hopefully my appetite will return in the next few days, everything is still tasting pretty bad. MICKEY

PACKERS WIN NFC NORTH, REDSKINS IN 1ST PLACE
The Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears yesterday and by doing so have clinched the NFC East and a spot in this playoffs. The Redskins beat the Brown and with Falcons beating the Giants the Skins are now ahead of the Giants in the race for the NFC East. There is actually a 3 way tie between the Skins, Giants and Cowboys. It looks like there is a pretty good chance of rain today but at least the temps will be pretty mild in the 50's. Well I am off to work. MICKEY
Sunday, December 16, 2012
PACKERS AND REDSKINS
The Green Bay Packers could clinch the NFC North today with a win on the road at Chicago. The Packers have been playing pretty well as of late while the Bears have been struggling a bit. The Redskins will be on the road at the Mistake on the Lake today Cleveland but RG3 will not start so the Skins have there work cut out for them. I believe the Redskins will win though. In college basketball action yesterday the VCU Rams crushed Alabama. Its a cool rainy morning here in the Heights and I am hoping it will stop soon so I can run outside today. MICKEY
Friday, December 14, 2012
A VERY COLD MORNING
It is a very cold morning here in Colonial Heights with the temperature in the upper 20's but it is Friday which is a good thing. Well all the picks are now in for the Bowl Games and I will be sending out who everybody picked later today. I think I am going to watch Colonials basketball team play at home tonight against Hopewell. Well I am going to work. MICKEY
Thursday, December 13, 2012
ALL THE PICKS IN EXCEPT 1
Well I have all the picks in except 1 and yes that person is from Georgia and I have to say he is a repeat offender but in his defense he must be bust studying at college. I will be finishing up wrapping the rest of the Christmas presents this weekend so I am sure I be complaining about my back hurting later in the weekend. My knee is continuing to get better, I can hardly even tell it was hurting so bad on Monday. MICKEY
Wednesday, December 12, 2012
KNEE FEELING BETTER
I have to say my knee started to fell much better yesterday and I was able to run last night. It is still a bit swollen and little sore but no where near as bad as it as Monday. I still need about 8 or 9 people picks for the Bowl Games, hopefully everybody will get them in on time tonight. I am off to work. MICKEY
Monday, December 10, 2012
RIGHT KNEE HURTING
I don't know what I did to my right knee but it hurting bad, it started hurting some Friday but has progressively gotten worst. If it doesn't feel any better by tonight I may have to go to the Dr. tomorrow, it feels like somebody is driving a nail into my right knee. The Packers and Redskins picked up much needed wins yesterday in the NFL, the Packers now lead the Bears by 1 game and the Redskins remain 1 game behind the Giants for the top spot. The Colonial Heights basketball team will be at home tonight against Lafayette and tomorrow night they will be at home as well against Matoaca. Well I have about half of the Bowl Picks in now, hopefully some more will trickle in the next couple of days. MICKEY
Saturday, December 08, 2012
ITS GOING TO FEEL LIKE SPRING
It's hard to believe that its the 2nd week in December but temperatures approaching the 70's degree mark the next two days is going to feel like its Spring which is fine with me. I don't like cold weather at all anymore so these warm temperatures are bonus that's for sure. I am sure the shopping malls will be very busy this weekend with Christmas fast approaching but you will not find me there fighting all those mad shoppers. Speaking of Christmas I wrapped some more presents last night and my neck is a bit sore this morning from doing so, who knew that wrapping presents could make you so sore the next day. MICKEY

VIRGINIA WINS ITS 6TH GAME IN ROW
After getting off to a bit of a slow start this season the Virginia Cavaliers basketball team picked up it's 6th straight win last night beating Tennessee 46-38 and with the win the Cavs are now 7-2. The Cavs will be back in action this Saturday at home against Mississippi Valley State. Well I got some more picks in yesterday but still don't but everybody has until next Wednesday to get them in. It is going to be a bit cool today before returning to Spring like temperatures for the weekend. MICKEY
Wednesday, December 05, 2012
VIRGINIA AT HOME TONIGHT
The Virginia basketball team return to action tonight at home against Tennessee looking for another win, the Cavs have been playing pretty well lately. The Colonial Heights basketball team lost to Thomas Dale last night and will be on the road at Petersburg on Friday. Well the the Bowl Picks have started to trickle in for my pick-em contest, so far I have received 5 to 6 picks. It is going to turn a bit cooler today with highs in the 50's for a few days before returning to the 60's and 70's later in the week. MICKEY
Tuesday, December 04, 2012
REDSKINS WIN
The Washington Redskins picked up a big win last night beating the New York Giants 17-16 and pulling within 1 game of the Giants for 1st place, the Skins will be at home next week against Baltimore. The Colonial Heights basketball team will be at home tonight against Thomas Dale but I don't think I will see any of tonight's game because will be hitting in the cage. Well I am off to work. MICKEY
Monday, December 03, 2012
WHERE DID THE WEEKEND GO
Where in the world did the weekend go, it sure went by fast. Well at least the weather is going to be nice the next 2 days with temps in the 70's, that's pretty good for December. I will be sending out the Bowl Games in the pick-em contest a little later today. In the NFL yesterday the Packers beat the Vikings and the Redskins will face the Giants tonight. I am very sore this morning, I think I must have wrapped to many Christmas presents this weekend. MICKEY

TOM CONTINUES TO LEAD
Well after 14 weeks the regular season has come to an end Tom has a 7 game lead over Erik heading into Bowl Season. Erik id cut 3 games off Tom's lead this week but Tom's 7 game lead is going to be very tough to overcome. This week Erik, Murph, Bobby, Scott and Keith had the best weeks going 14-3 while John, Dusty and George had the toughest week all going 9-8. As soon as the Bowl Games are released I will send out that information and when your bowl picks need to be back in by. MICKEY

I WAS ROOTING FOR GEORGIA
Well I sure was rooting for Georgia yesterday but Alabama held on to beat them 32-28 in a very good game. The Bulldogs had themselves in position to win but just came up short. In the Mickey College Football Pick-Em Contest Tom continues to lead but Erik has closed the gap to 7 games but it might be to late with only the bowl season coming up. Today in the Packers will be at home against Minnesota and the Redskins will be at home against the Giants. I have to say my right thumb is a bit sore this morning from wrapping Christmas presents yesterday. MICKEY

A COUPLE OF GOOD GAMES
There where a couple of very good college football games last night with Northern Illinois beating Kent State in OT to win the MAC Championship and Stanford beat UCLA for the 2nd in as many weeks to win the PAC 12 Championship. Today Georgia will face Alabama with the winner moving to play in the national championship game against Notre Dame. In high school basketball action last night the Colonial lost to Patrick Henry. Its hard to believe today is December 1 and that Christmas is just 24 days away. MICKEY
Friday, November 30, 2012
WARM WEATHER RETURNS
Well starting today through at least Tuesday some much warmer weather will return to the area with highs today and tomorrow in the 60's and then in the 70's Sunday through Tuesday. I do not have any problems with the warm air returning for a few days. The Colonial Heights basketball team will on the road tonight against Patrick Henry. Well I through batting practice again last night and needless to say my arm is quite a bit sore this morning. I sure am glad that it is Friday because I need a few days off to rest because I am a bit tired. MICKEY

COLONIALS FALL ON THE HARDWOOD
The Colonial Heights Colonials basketball team opened up the season last night falling to Atlee 63-59. The Colonials lead most of the game but a late rally by Atlee got the Raiders the victory. Well I am sure my arm is going to be a bit sore in the morning after throwing BP for the first time since last season, we where going to start last week but with the holiday we decided to start this week. Well it looks like we might get some rain today but it does not look like it is going to rain all day. MICKEY

Packers look bad
The Green Bay Packers looked pretty bad last night falling to the Giants 38-10. The offense and the defense looked equally as bad. The Colonial Heights boys basketball team will open up its season tonight at home against Atlee, this will be the 1st game of three this week. Well after being off the last 4 days its time to head back to work. Mickey

TOM CONTINUES TO LEAD
Well 13 weeks of this years contest are in the books and Tom continues to dominate this years contest. This will be the last regular week of this years contest with only the bowl games to pick in a few weeks. Entering week 14 of the contest Tom has a 10 game lead over Erik with Murph and Steve 12 games back and Bobby, Julianne and Joy are 13 back. This past week Erik and The Chief had the best week both going 18-6 while Jeff continued to struggle going 10-14. There are not as many games this week so if Erik wants to have a shot at winning this years contest he will need to make up a few more games before heading into the Bowl Picks. MICKEY

HEADING TO THE BEACH
Well I will not be going shopping today on the Black Friday but I will be heading down to the beach and it looks like it will be a bit on the cool side at the beach. I do need to finish up my Christmas shopping but I will not be doing it today. The Redskins beat the Cowboys in Dallas yesterday, the Skins had a 28-3 lead at the half but had to hold to on to pick up the win. In college basketball action last night the VCU Rams beat Memphis and now get to play Duke tonight, the Rams upset Duke the last time they met them in the NCAA Tournament. Well I have got allot to do this morning before I go to the beach. MICKEY

AFTER TODAY I AM OFF THE REST OF THE WEEK
Well after I work today I will be off the rest of the week, I am going to feel like I am working for the government or a school teacher. I think I am am going to head down to the beach on Friday, I have not been there in a few months and maybe I can get some more Christmas shopping down. I still need about 10 people picks this week for the football pick-em contest, I am hoping everybody will get them in by 9pm tonight. MICKEY

AFTER A ROUGH START THE PACKERS ARE NOW TIED FOR 1ST
Well after a bit of a slow start and and a bad call by a referee the Packers are now tied with the Bears for 1st place after the Bears lost to the 49ers last night. Well tonight I will throw batting practice for the 1st time since lat season ended so I am pretty sure my arm is going to be very sore tomorrow night but I am ready to throw again. Well I am going to head to work. MICKEY

PACKERS AND REDSKINS WIN
Well the the Green Bay Packers picked up win on the road at Detroit and the Redskins beat the struggling Eagles. If the 49ers beat the Bears tonight the Packers would be in a 1st place tie with the Bears. Brad Keselowski won the 2012 Sprint Cup Championship yesterday and Jeff Gordon won yesterdays race at Homestead. My allergies have really been bothering me the last few days, I guess the wind has stirred up some allergens. I only have to work 3 days this week since we are taking off on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Well I am going to head to work. MICKEY

TOM WITH A COMMANDING LEAD
Well after 12 weeks of this years contest Tom had taken a commanding 11 game lead heading into week 13 of the contest and he is making a mockery of this years contest. Going into this weeks games Tom had 6 game lead and this week he went 18-6 which was the best of the week. The battle for 2nd place is a very good one with 6 players within 2 games of 2nd place. Well the way things look now it looks like we will have our 5th different winner in as many years. There are some very tough games this week and if anybody wants to challenge Tom for the top spot they had better make up some grown this week, but I have to say its not looking to good for anybody but Tom. GLAD IT'S THE WEEKEND
I sure am glad that it's the weekend because I sure need a couple of days off to rest and with Thanksgiving coming next week I only have to work 3 days before being off for 4 straight days. I think I am going to feel like I work for the government next week. In high school football action in the Central Region last night in Division 5 Hopewell beat Dinwiddie and now play host Hanover next week he beat Lee Davis last night and in Division 6 L.C. Bird beat Hermitage and will be on the road at Varina next week since they beat Meadowbrook last night. At the beach last night Plymouth beat Manteo. I have to say i am ready to watch some college football today and I think there will be a few more upsets today. I just want to let everybody now than can follow me on twitter at @MickeyGoulder. VIRGINIA FALLS, IT'S FRIDAY
Well the North Carolina Tar Heels beat the Virginia Cavaliers last night 37-13 ending the Cavs 2 game winning streak. The Cavs just did not make the plays they needed to make last night and had several costly penalties as well. The Cavs will finish out there season on the road at Virginia Tech next weekend. I sure am glad that it is Friday it has been a very long week. MICKEY

VIRGINIA LOOKS TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK
The Virginia football team will be looking to extend it's winning streak to 3 games tonight when the Cavs play host to North Carolina. I think tonight's will be a very high scoring games and I think it will be close. Well Al came by last night and put my new treadmill together last night and I am very glad that he did because I think I might have been stuck on step 2. I am waiting on 1 persons picks for the contest this week, hopefully they will come in today. Also last night we took all the Christmas stuff out of the attic which has made my back even more sore. MICKEY

BACK SORE
Well after visiting the dentist for a tooth cleaning yesterday afternoon my back is a bit sore this morning, those dentist chairs are just nor that comfortable. The VCU and Virginia basketball teams both lost last night at home, VCU lost to Wichita State while Virginia lost to Delaware. So far I have got just over half of the picks in for this weeks games. Its cold this morning. MICKEY

COOL RAINY DAY
Well it looks like it is going to be a cool rainy day here in the Heights, I woke up around 4am and it was still 64 degrees and then when I woke up to go to work it is now 50. There is an 80% chance of rain today but the weatherman says it will not rain all day. Well I finally went out and purchased a new treadmill last night, my old treadmill is still running but on its last leg. I also have to go to the dentist today for my normal cleaning. MICKEY

OLD TIME RACING
I have to say yesterdays race reminded of the way racing use to be when you went over to the old Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway. There was Royal Rumble in the garage and even think a hockey game broke at well after Jeff Gordon too out his frustrations on Clint Bowyer after Bowyer caused him have flat tire. The Bowyers crew cam after Jeff Gordon in pits and it was on. Jimmie Johnson the points leader goi g into the race hit the wall after blowing a tire out and is now 20 points behind Keselowski in points race. Kevin Harvick won the race holding off Kyle Busch for the win as about 10 cars wrecked on the final lap coming to the start finish line when Danica Patrick's car was leaking oil all over the track and Nascar did not throw the caution for. Over the last few weeks there have been so many phantom caution flags and then there was a time one needed to be thrown and they don't do it and then they gave some lame excuse why the did not. TOM CONTINUES TO DOMINATE
Well after 11 weeks of this years contest it still appears to be Tom and everybody else, after 11 weeks Tom has a commanding 6 game lead. We do have new person in 2nd place after 11 weeks, Erik moved into that spot this week after going 16-8 while Bobby and Murph each lost a spot. There only 7 other players within 9 games of Tom. This week Andrew had the best week going 18-6 while Jeff and Gerald toughest week going 12-12. There is a tight race going on for 9th place as well with 5 players being within 2 games of that spot. I have to say that Tom is in the drivers seat in this years contest. MICKEY

COLONIALS SEASON COMES TO AN END, VIRGINIA FALLS
The Colonial Heights Colonials football season came to and last night against Thomas Dale with the Colonials falling to the Knights 43-6 in a very chippy game. Down at the beach Manteo won there 2nd round playoff game against Columbia 61-12 and will face Plymouth next week. In college basketball action last night Virginia lost on the road at George Mason and VCU won at home. The Virginia football team will be at home looking to build on last weeks win against N.C. State when the Cavaliers face the Miami Hurricanes. I am going to go for a run. MICKEY

BUSY SPORTS DAY
Well I have too say there are allot of sports going on today. The Colonials will play there final football game of the season tonight at home against Thomas Dale. Today is also the 1st day NCAA basketball and both Virginia and VCU will be in action, the Cavs will be on the road for a very tough test a George Mason while VCU will be at home. Also there Nascar Sprint Cup Series is a Phoenix this weekend and then there is college football as well. I sure am glad that it Friday. MICKEY

I HAVE ALL THE PICKS BUT 1
Well I have everybody's picks in with the exception of one and not it's not Dusty who does not have his in, Dusty sent his in on time this week. It looks like it is going to start warming up tomorrow with temps in the 60 and then rising into the 70's by Monday which is fine with me. The Colonial Heights football team will play it's final game of the season tomorrow night at home against Thomas Dale and the it won't be long until basketball season starts. Well I am going to work. MICKEY
Wednesday, November 07, 2012
PICKS VERY SLOW COMING IN
Well I wish the picks where coming in as fast as the election results where coming in last night but so far this week I have only received about half of this weeks picks. I am hoping everybody gets them in by 9pm tonight. It is a bit cool this morning with a few showers around but it appears most of the rain will stay off to the east today which is fine with me. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

PACKERS WIN, SKINS LOSE
The Green bay Packers picked up another win yesterday afternoon beating the Arizona Cardinals 31-17, the Packers had another receiver go down with an injury but still where able to pull out another win. The Redskins where not as lucky falling to the Panthers 21-13, the Skins just didn't play well yesterday at all. The Falcons remained the only undefeated team in the NFL last night beating the Cowboys. In the Sprint Cup race yesterday Jimmie Johnson won with Brad Keselowski finishing 2nd so Johnson still leads the point standings. Well I am off to start another week at work. MICKEY

TOM EXTENDS HIS LEAD
Well after 10 weeks of the contest Tom has extended to 5 games over Bobby, Muprh and Erik. Tom appears to be the only player in the contest who has gotten to the top of the standings and stayed there for a few weeks. Besides the 3 players tied for 2nd place Steve is 6 games back with Julianne and Joy both 7 games and then there is pretty much everybody else. This past week I had the best week going 18-7 and Jonathan coming of winning week had the worst week going 12-13. It looks like contest has come down 7 players who have a shot to win it but if Tom continues to play well there could even be less with a shot to win after next week. MICKEY

VIRGINIA WINS
The Virginia Cavaliers came out and played liked they did for most of last year yesterday beating the N.C. State Wolfpack 33-6 in Raleigh. The Cavs will return home next Saturday against the Miami Hurricanes. In the NFL today the Packers will be at home against the Cardinals and the Redskins will be at home against the Panthers. I will have the updated standing out for the college football pick em contest a little later this morning. Jimmie Johnson will start on the pole at Texas for today's NASCAR Sprint Cup race, Johnson is also your points leader. MICKEY

FALL BACK
Don't forget to set your clocks an hour before you go to bed. In high school football action last night Meadowbrook beat Colonial Heights 56-0 and down at the beach in the NHSCA playoffs Manteo won 49-12 while First Flight lost 48-21. In college football today Virginia will be on the road at N.C. State and I have to say I don't like the Cavs chances. It is cold this morning here in the Heights, when I got up this morning it was 33 degrees. MICKEY

CHRISTMAS JUST A MONTH AWAY
Well I have to say it is very hard to believe that Christmas is just 1 month away and I have only done about half of my Christmas shopping which is not very good. Speaking of not very good, there is 1 person from down in Georgia who had not sent there picks in this week and it's not Joy or Scott. I don't know why there is always somebody who does not want to follow the rules of the contest. I feel like I am catching cold but I hope it's just an allergy but I will have to wait and see. I am off to work. MICKEY

HURRICANE SAND DOES ALLOT OF DAMAGE
Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast yesterday causing major damage from North Carolina to New York. Here in the Colonial Heights area the damage was very minimal but down at the beach the Outer Banks was hit pretty hard. Also in Virginia the Eastern part of the state was allot of flooding and there was some damage in the Northern part of the state as well. The New Jersey and New York area appears to be the hardest hit areas, hopefully things will get better up there soon. It is also very cold this morning here in the Heights with temps in the upper 30's. MICKEY

REMNANTS OF HURRICANE SANDY
Well we are going to be experiencing the remnants of Hurricane Sandy here today in Colonial Heights with some strong winds and some heavy rains a little later today. So far here in the Heights there has not been much here in city except a little wind yesterday. The San Francisco Giants won the World Series sweeping the Tigers 4 straight games. In the NFL the Packers won while the Redskins lost yesterday. Jimmie Johnson won yesterdays Sprint Cup race at Martinsville holding off Kyle Busch for the win and by doing so now leads the Brad Keselowski in the point standings. Well I am going to head to work. MICKEY

TOM TAKES A 3 GAME LEAD
Well after 9 weeks of the contest Tom has taken a 3 game lead over Bobby and a 5 game lead over Steve and Murph. This past weeks games took its toll on several contestants and now there are only 7 players within 7 games of 1st place with everybody else 10 or more games back with positions 8-16th only separated by 4 games. This past week Jonathan had the best week going 16-8 and now has won more weeks than anybody else and with little more consistency in the other weeks would be battling for a top spot. Lee had the roughest week going 8-16 and is now tied with Phillips at 122-89. There some more very difficult games this week which could create some more separation at the top of the standings. EFFECTS OF SANDY
Well the question is will we get any effects from what is now Tropical Storm Sandy here in Colonial Heights. The weather forecasters have been going back and forth on how bad its going to be here and in other parts of the state and they still really don't know. I know one thing the storm has been good for and that is sales at the grocery store. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens but I hope whatever happens is not to bad and the power does not go out. MICKEY

I SURE AM GLAD THAT IS FRIDAY
I have to say I sure am glad that it is Friday, it feels like it has been an extremely long week. The San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers again last night 2-0 to to take a 2-0 series lead in the World Series with series heading back to Detroit. The Colonial Heights football team will be on the road at Prince George tonight. The Virginia football team is off this weekend trying to regroup for the remainder of the season. The big weather story this weekend is where will Hurricane Sandy go. MICKEY
Thursday, October 25, 2012
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH
Well today is fellow blogger Keith Goulder's birthday, Happy Birthday Keith. The Giants took game 1 of the World Series 8-3 last night. Hurricane Sandy is threatening to make a run at the east coast and the way it look it could hit anywhere from Virginia to Massachusetts, hopefully it will stay out to sea but that is not looking likely. Well I do have all the picks in for this weeks games and I will send them out later today. Speaking of later today I have to go to the dentist later today, I don't like going to the dentist. MICKEY

WORLD SERIES SET
The San Francisco Giants pounded the Cardinals last night 9-0 to win the NL Championship Series and move on to the World Series where the will face the Detroit Tigers. The Giants won the final three games of the series just like they did against the Reds so if they fall 3 games behind in the series against the Tigers I guess the Giants will have them where they want them. It is going to be very warm here in the Heights today with temps in the 80's but by Saturday the high temps will be back 60's. Well I am going to head to work. MICKEY

PACKERS WIN, REDSKINS LOSE
The Green Bay Packers beat the St. Louis Rams yesterday 30-20 the while the Redskins suffered a heartbreaking loss to the New York Giants in the final minutes of the game. The San Francisco Giants beat the Cardinals last night 6-1 to force a game 7 tonight in San Francisco. Matt Kenseth won yesterdays crash filled race at Kansas, Bras Keselowski still leads the point standings with 3 races to go. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

TOM & BOBBY STILL TIED
Well after 8 weeks of this years pick-em contest Tom and Bobby are stilled tied for 1st with Steve, Muprh and Julianne lurking just 3 games back. Erik, Chiz and Joy are within striking distance but need to make up some more games pretty quick. The top 12 players are within 10 games of 1st place. This past week Julianne and Dan had the best weeks going 18-5 while Lee had the toughest week going 11-12. Also there is a good battle going on for 16th place with 8 players separated by less than 3 games. It looks like this weeks games are going to be much tougher than last weeks games. MICKEY

A TOUGH NIGHT FOR THE COLONIALS
I have to say it was a very tough night for the Colonials football team falling to Dinwiddie 66-20, the Colonials trailed at the half 52-0 and for some reason Dinwiddie kept kick onside kicks. I can understand doing it as an element of surprise but when you are up by 42 I think it is a bit much and from what I understand they don't do this against the really good teams on there schedule. Down at the beach Manteo lost there 1st game of the season falling to Plymouth 44-8 and Hertford beat First Flight 30-21. In college football action to the Virginia looks to end there losing streak at home against Wake Forest, I am going to be watching this game from home. In the NL playoffs last night the Giants stayed alive beating the Cards sending the series back to San Francisco with the Cards leading 3-2. Kasey Kahne captured the pole for tomorrows Sprint Cup race at Kansas. Well I guess I will watch allot of college football today. MICKEY

COLONIALS AT HOME TONIGHT
The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be back in action at home tonight against a very good Dinwiddie team, game time is set for 7pm. The Detroit Tigers moved on to the World Series after beatin the Yankees again last night by doing so swept the might Yankees 4-0. In the NL the Cards beat the Giants again and now lead the series 3-1, the Cards can finish off the Giants tonight at home. The Sprint Cup Series will be at Kansas this weekend. It is raining a little bit here in the Heights this morning with some heavier rain on the way this morning. Well I am off to work. MICKEY
Thursday, October 18, 2012
ALL THE PICKS ARE IN
I am glad to say that all the picks are in for this weeks contest and I will be sending out who everybody picked a little later today. The Cards took a 2-1 series lead in the NL Championship Series last night while the AL series was rained out, both series will be in action today weather permitting. Well I did a bit more Christmas shopping last night night online but I do have quite a bit more to buy. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

TIGERS ONE WIN AWAY
The Detroit Tigers are now just 1 win away from winning the AL Championship Series after beating the Yankees again last night. The Tigers will go for the sweep tonight in game 4 of the series and NL Championship also resumes tonight with series tied at 1-1. The picks for this week games have been extremely slow coming in this week, hopefully everybody will get them in on time this week. MICKEY

I HAVE SLEPT WELL
The last few days I have to say that have slept pretty well. For about the last two weeks before that I kept waking up about 2 hours before I should but the last few days I have slept like a rock. The Giants evened up there series with Cardinals last night 1-1 in the NL Championship Series. The Yankees and Tigers will resume there series tonight with the Tigers up 2-0. Well I guess I will go to work. MICKEY

A GOOD DAY FOR MY NFL TEAMS
Well yesterday was a good day for the 2 NFL teams that I root for the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins. The Packers beat the Titans last night 42-24, the Packers jumped on the Titans and never looked back. The Redskins beat the Vikings yesterday behind RG3 good day 38-26, RG3 76 yard TD run put the game away for the Skins. In the MLB Playoffs the Tigers beat the Yankees again to take a 2-0 series lead and the Cards beat the Giants to take a 1-0 series lead. I have to say its pretty nice outside this morning after being pretty cool the last few mornings it is a very balmy 63 this morning. MICKEY

2 WAY TIE AT THE TOP
Well after 7 weeks of the contest Tom and Bobby are tied for the top spot with Steve and Murph just 3 games back. Chiz who was in 2nd dropped back to 5th place after having a bit of a tough week. The top 14 players are within 10 games of 1st pace. Bobby had the best week going 18-6 while George had the worst week going 10-14. The battle for the last spot is heating up a bit with George and Gerald tied for the spot. I have to say there are some very tough games this week so things could get a bit interesting at the top. It also looks like the list of contenders is getting smaller while the pretenders list is getting bigger. Good Luck to everyone next week. MICKEY

I am going to be heading down to East Carolina this afternoon to watch the Pirates face the Memphis Tigers. This will be my first trip down there this season. In the MLB Playoffs yesterday the Cardinals and the Yankees advance to the next round of the playoffs. In the AL the Yanks will face the Tigers and in the NL the Cards will face the Giants. Greg Biffle will statrt on the pole tonight in Charlotte, Biffle edged out the old man Mark Martin for the top spot. Joey Logano won the Nationwide race last night. MICKEY

After taking a 2-0 series lead over the Cardinals the Reds returned home and lost 3 straight to the Cardinals and now have been eliminated from the playoffs. The Tigers also moved to next round beating the A's. The Nationals and Cards will play a game 5 and the Yanks and O's will also play a game 5. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will miss the next 2 races after suffering a concussion last week at Talladega. Mickey

STILL WAITING FOR 1 PERSONS PICK
Well I am still waiting for 1 persons picks this morning and I have to say that I am none to happy about it. I have not decided whether or not I am going to accept this persons pick because it has been a constant problem, I will decide today. In the MLB Playoffs the yesterday the Yanks beat the Oriloes to take a 2-1 series lead and the A's and the Tigers series is now tied at 2-2. In the NL the Giants and Reds are now tied at 2-2 while the Cards now lead the Nats 2-1. I am going to work. MICKEY

COLD RAINY MORNING
It is a cold rainy morning here in Colonial Heights, there is not much rain on the radar but the biggest green cell appears to be right over the city. It is going to make it into the 60's today and there is just a 30% chance of rain. In the MLB playoffs last night the Orioles beat the Yankees evening the series up a game a piece and the Cardinals beat the Nats as well evening up there series a 1-1 as well. The Reds will be at today looking to sweep the Giants. Well I am going to work. MICKEY

REDS WIN, PACKERS & REDSKINS LOSE
The Cincinnati Reds beat the San Francisco Giants last night to take a 2-0 series lead with series heading back to Cincinnati only needing win one more game to advance to the NL Championship Series. The other MLB winners yesterday where the Nationals, A's, and Orioles. In the NFL the Packers lost to the Colts 30-27 while Redskins lost to the Falcons 24-17. TOM TAKES THE LEAD
Well after 6 weeks of the Mickey's College Football Pick Em Contest Tom leads Chiz by 1 game and Bobby, Steve and Murph by 2 games. In the past few weeks the top had not been the best place to be. This past week Sean had the best week going 18-6 and moved up 8 spots in the standings and is now in 9th place. There several players who had rough weeks going 12-12. The top 5 players in the contest are within 2 games of first and the top 14 players are within 10 games of first. Also through 6 weeks of the contest there have been 10 different weekly winners which is pretty good. There are some more very tough games next week. MICKEY

VIRGINIA LOOKS BAD, REDS WIN
The Virginia football team looked as bad as they have all year yesterday losing to Duke 42-17, the Cavs actually lead the game at half 17-14 but decided not to show up for the second half. It got so bad that I had to change channel. In the MLB Playoffs yesterday the Tigers beat the A's 3-1 and the Big Red Machine beat the Giants 5-2. Today in the NFL Green Bay will be at Indianapolis and the Redskins will be at home against the Falcons. It does look like we will have another leader in our college football pick em contest this week, updated standing coming out later today. Kasey Kahne captured the pole for today's race at Talladega edging out Ryan Newman for the top spot. Well the weather sure changed overnight, it is cold out there this morning. MICKEY

COLONIALS, VIRGINIA LOOKS FOR AN ACC WIN
The Colonial Heights Colonials fell to Matoaca last night on homecoming 26-6 to the Warriors. The Colonials were down 12-6 at the half and played hard the entire game but just couldn't get anything started offensively in the 2nd half. Down at the beach Edenton Holmes beat First Flight 53-7 and Manteo remained undefeated with 65-0 win over Northside. In college football action today the Virginia Cavaliers will looking for an ACC win on the road at Duke, the Cavs have struggled with Duke in recent years. In the MLB wildcard games last night the Cardinals beat the Braves and Orioles beat the Rangers. Today the Cincinnati will face San Francisco and Oakland will face Detroit. Well I hope everybody has a good Saturday. MICKEY
Friday, October 05, 2012
HOMECOMING TONIGHT, BASEBALL WILDCARDS
Well its Homecoming tonight in Colonial Heights at 7pm when the Colonials face the Matoaca Warriors and at game time it looks like it is going to be in the 70's at kick off with low humidity. The MLB playoffs start today with a pair of single elimination games, The Braves will be at home against the Cardinals and in the AL Baltimore will be at Texas. This week the Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at Talladega where all the chase drivers will be trying to avoid the big one. Well I am going to work. MICKEY
Thursday, October 04, 2012
ALL THE PICKS MADE IT IN
Well I am glad to say that all the picks mad it in on time last night on for this weekends games. Some of the picks just made the deadline but they made it in none the less. Well MLB playoffs will officially start tomorrow with a pair of wild card playoff game, the NL it will be St. Louis at Atlanta and in the AL it will be Baltimore at Texas. In high school football action tomorrow night it will be homecoming when Colonial Heights faces Matoaca. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY
Tuesday, October 02, 2012
PICKS A BIT SLOW COMING IN
Well I have to say that the picks for this weeks games have been a bit slow coming in to say the least. Hopefully they will pick up a bit today, I guess some people are taking a little extra time because they are trying to make a run for the top spot. There is a 80% chance of rain today so you might want to take your umbrella with you. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY
Monday, October 01, 2012
PACKERS & REDSKINS WIN
The Green Bay Packers and the Washington Redskins both picked up wins yesterday in very close games. The Packers beat the Saints 28-27 while the Redskins got a later field goal and beat Tanpa 24-22. Brad Keselowski won yesterdays Sprint Cup race at Dover after several drivers had to pit late in the race for gas and Keselowski also leads the point standings as well by 5 points over Jimmie Johnson. Its hard to believe today is October 1 which means Christmas is just 2 months away and I just started my Christmas shopping. Well I going to work. MICKEY
Sunday, September 30, 2012
BOBBY TAKES THE LEAD
Well after 5 weeks of the contest Bobby has a 1 game lead over Chiz, Tom, and Steve. This week Jonathan and Guy had the best week going 18-5 while Phillips had the toughest time going 10-13 and dropped all the way to 14th place. The top 11 players are within 6 games of 1st place and the top 20 players are within 10 games of 1st. The battle for the bottom spot in the standings is starting to heat up a bit as well with Gerald, George, Dan and Dusty all fighting for the spot. It looks like there will be some more tough games next week which could further separate the contenders form the pretenders. MICKEY

ANOTHER ROUGH DAY FOR THE CAVS, PACKERS LOOK TO REBOUND
Th Virginia Cavaliers lead 24-19 at the half against La Tech only to have the Bulldogs only to have the Bulldogs score the next 24 points to take a 44-24 before the Cavs made a later rally. However the rally cam up a bit short and the Cavs lost 44-38. Next week the Cavs travel down to Duke where I am sure they will be underdogs again. It looks like Bobby has moved back into 1st place in our football contest by himself with a group just 1 game behind, I will have all the updated standings out later. In the NFL today the Packers will be at home against the Saints while the Redskins will be on the road at Tampa. Denny Hamlin is on the pole for today Sprint Cup race in Dover edging Clint Bowyer for the top spot. Joey Logano won yesterdays Nationwide race at Dover holding off Paul Menard for the win. MICKEY

The Bulldogs are 3-0 and are coming off a 52-24 drubbing of Illinois, the Cavs defense will have there hands full today for sure. The Colonial Heights football lost to Petersburg last night 18-9, the Colonials played well but just came up short. The Colonials will be back at home again next week for Homecoming against Matoaca. Down at the beach First Flight beat Pastquotank 24-14 and Manteo beat South Creek 46-24. They Sprint Cup Series will be at Dover tomorrow and they will qualify this morning weather permitting. I have now officially started Christmas shopping, yes I am a little behind. Have a good day. MICKEY

COLONIALS AT HOME AGAIN TONIGHT, RAIN
The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be at home again tonight against the Petersburg Crimson Wave at 7pm. There is a chance of rain tonight but hopefully it will hold off until after tonight's game. Will the NFL refs returned to action last night to standing ovation in Baltimore, who would have ever though that. This week the Nascar Sprint Cup Series is at Dover, this could be a wildcard race in the chase because of the number of multi car accidents that occur at Dover. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

THE REFS ARE BACK
The NFL refs and the NFL have ended there dispute and the regular refs will be back on the field tonight, who would have ever thought the players would be so happy to have the officials back but I think everybody is glad to see them back. Well I did get all the picks before 9pm last night which made me happy, I did have to send out a few reminders but everybody made the deadline. The Colonial Heights football team will be at home again tomorrow night against Petersburg. MICKEY

I STILL NEED PICKS
The picks for this weekends games have been a bit slow coming in this week. I still need about 10 peoples picks for the contest this week. Last week a couple players made it in at the very last minute, hopefully they wont be as late getting them in tonight. MICKEY

A TOUGH LOSS FOR THE PACKERS
The Green Bay Packers lost on the last play of the game last night to Seattle 14-12 on another replacement ref debacle. It appeared the Packers had intercepted the ball on the final play of the game only to have receiver steal the ball while players where on the ground. On ref signals touchdown while the other ref signals touch-back. The NFL has become a big joke with these replacement refs. MICKEY

IT'S COLD THIS MORNING
Well its a very cool 48 degrees here in the Heights this morning and the high today is only expected to be around 70 with temp dropping back into mid 40's tonight. The Redskins lost at home yesterday 38-31 to the Bengals, the Skins fell behind early in the game then tied it up only to fall in the end. Tonight the Packers will be on the road at Seattle. Denny Hamlin won yesterday race at New Hampshire and after to races in the chase Jimmie Johnson leads the point standings 1 point over Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin by 7. Well I am heading to work. MICKEY

CHIZ AND BOBBY TIED FOR THE LEAD
Well after 4 weeks of the contest Chiz and Bobby are tied for the lead with Tom 1 game back. This week Bobby, Tom, Steve, Chiz and Julianne had the best weeks going 19-5 while Dusty had the roughest week going 12-12. The top 13 players are within 5 games of first place which is pretty good. A couple of players are have strong runs to the top of the standings, newcomer Steve has been consistent all year and now has moved into 5th place while Joy and Julianne are have moved into the top 10. It also looks like the list of pretenders in this years contest is starting to grow a bit. Also Tom has now taking the tiebreaker lead by himself with 2 wins. MICKEY

ANOTHER TOUGH DAY FOR THE CAVALIERS
Well yesterday was another tough day for the Virginia Cavaliers on the football field down in Texas where the Cavaliers lost to TCU 27-7. The Cavaliers have got tot get there offense on track or they are going to continue to struggle. It does not get any easier for the Cavaliers next week when they return home to face Louisiana Tech who drubbed Indiana last night. Also in college football action yesterday North Carolina beat East Carolina 27-6. It looks like we will have a new leader in the Mickey College Football Pick Em Contest again this week, I release the updated standings later this morning. In the NFL today the Redskins will be at home against the Bengals at 1pm, the Packers don't play until tomorrow. This afternoon i will be flipping the channels back and forth between the race and the football game. MICKEY

The Colonial Heights Colonials football team put up a good fight but lost another close one 22-19 to Armstrong last night. The Colonials will be back at home next Friday night against Petersburg. Down at the beach Manteo remained undefeated beating Southside 51-6 and First Flight got beat by Northeastern 47-7. In college football action today the Virginia Cavaliers have another tough game on the road at Texas Christian while East Carolina travels to North Carolina. Jeff Gordon won the pole for this weekends race at New Hampshire edging Kyle Busch for the tops spot. I am not going to do anything today but watch college football. MICKEY

ITS FRIDAY
I sure am glad that is Friday because I need a couple of days of to rest. I watched the 1st half of last nights college game between BYU vs Boise State, I thought it was going to be an offensive game but it was 0-0 at the half and Boise ended up winning it 7-6. The Colonial Heights Colonials football team will be at home tonight against Armstrong at 7pm. I am going to work. MICKEY

ALL PICKS ARE NOW IN
Well I am very glad to say that all the picks are now in after a couple of late entries came in after I went to bed. I will send out the master sheet of who everybody picked when I get home from work today. The Colonial Heights JV football game was cancelled last night because Armstrong JV team folded. The Colonials varsity football team will be back at home tomorrow night at 7pm against Armstrong. Well I am going to work. MICKEY

A LITTLE FRUSTRATED
I have to say I am a bit frustrated tonight because 2 people still have not gotten there picks in this week. I have say that its not easy running the contest with this many people and its even harder when I don't get all the picks in on time. I have decided to give these 2 people a little more time this week but I don't know much more time I can give them. MICKEY
RAIN YESTERDAY, STILL NEED SOME PICKS
Well we got a pretty good rain here in the Heights yesterday afternoon but we did not have any severe weather in our area. However I did have a bit of a tough time getting home from with all the rain there where quite a few accidents. I still need about 7 peoples picks for this weekends contest, I am hoping everybody will be on time with there picks this week. The Colonial Heights JV football team will be at home tonight, I am going to try to get up there and watch some of there game. MICKEY
