Colonial Heights AT Thomas Dale
Colonial Heights will travel Thomas Dale friday night in first game in the central district for both teams. This will be a very big test for the Colonials to see how the match up with one of the powerhouses in the area, CH is 3-0 and TD is 2-1 with there only loss being to Varina by 3 points and Varina may be the best team in the area. In other games in the CD has Dinwiddie at Hopewell, Mataoca at Meadowbrook and Prince George at Petersburg. In NC First Flight will be at Northeastern and Perquimans will be at Manteo. Down south Crawford County will be at Macon County. I am still recvovering from lst nights softball action and if we had to play again today I might not have been able to awnser the bell, I have a very sore elbow and hand. The Nextel Cup series is at Talledega this weekend and this race could really shuffle up the point standings if there is a BIG ONE. If JR is going to win another race this weekend this could be the one. I don't have a prediction on the CH and TD game but I think it is going to be closer than people think. MICKEY

ICU Now 8-0
Let's just say won't pretty but we did come away with two more victories tonight. We won the first game 14-4 and the second won 19-4, the games were closer than the final score indicated. The ICU was still without Craig Skalak and David Gwaltney, and I could be joining them next week if I don't heal up some. I took a ball on my left wrist and and another on the palm of my right hand to go along with a verry sore right elbow. I had to switch from ss to 2b because I could not get the ball to first in the air. The big highlight of the game was a 3run HR by Jordan Castanada. We even had some fans from the blog there at the game, Lee and Melanie came to give us some support. Next week we play the Sluggers who are 2nd place by themselves, so we need bring our A game next week. MICKEY

ICU Returns To The Field Tonight
The walking wounded ICU softball team will be back in action tonight on the Lakevie#1 softball field at 6:30pm. The ICU will be trying to improve 6-0 record with a couple more victories tonight. The Atlanta Braves won it's 14th straight divisional title last night in Atlanta, it looks like they are going to play the Houston Astros in the playoffs. The JV Colonials will be at home tonight against TD in football action. It feels like fall this morning, its a cool 55.4 degrees on the atomic clock. MICKEY

Very Dry Here In CH
I thought that we might get some rain from Hurricane Rita, but all we got was a very light shower. Also because it's so dry some cities and counties are thinkning about putting in water restriction because of the lack of rainfall. In sports last night the Braves and Phillies lost in the NL, while the Yankees won and too over first in the AL, the Red Sox were rained out. In football Tenn beat LSU in overtime and in the NFL Denver defeated KC. Don't forget the ICU softball will return to action wed night at 6:30pm on Lakeview#1 softball field against Me and Ducks Resturant. MICKEY

A Pretty Good Weekend
Well I had a pretty good weekend for the most part. On friday night went to the CH Colonials get a victory over Armstrong, then after the game we lost power here at the house 2 or 3 times, and I lost all my bookmarks on Netscape, but I wa able to correct that problem by importing them from somewhere else. The me a dad left about 5:30am to head down to KDH to get the car and bring mom home. Also on saturday UVA got a victory while ECU lost but played a very good game to a team that blew them out the stdium last year. Then yesterday the GB Packers lost again and looking at there schedule over the next few weeks there are not to many winnable games on it, the PACK is going to have a very long year, I guess I am going to have to pull for the Skins a little more this year. Jimmy Johnson won the Nextel Cup race and he also took the lead in the race for the championsip. Here are the standings after two races. MICKEY

Well UVA, Va Tech, and Ga all won games yesterday while ECU lost to West Va 20-15, the big upset was Louisville getting pounded by South Florida. The Packers are home against Tampa Bay today and I hate to say it but they might be 0-3 after today, the Skins are off. The Braves continue to close in on winning the NL East, there magic number is down to three. The Nextel Cup race is at Dover today, hopefully everybody will keep the tempers under control. Hoos 38 Duke 7
Maybe Al Groh is right, perhaps I do have an ego problem. The Hoos win 38-7 but I'm not happy with the win. Very puzzling, a "W" is "W" right? But, I don't feel comfortable about this team. I predict the loss at MD next week (I hope I'm wrong). I also predict that the Hokies will come to C-ville undefeated, but will leave town w/ their heart broken. Remeber, Mic's place you heard it hear first. Hokies will go down at the HOOK!!!

JV EAGLES GET CLOBBERED
Dad Brings Bad Luck To The Braves
Well dad went down to Atlanta to see the Braves play and they promptly lose two games in a row, yesterday 10-6 and today 4-0. He did get to see two pretty good games though the Braves them both. I see the Crawford Middle School team won yesterday, I have not hear whether the JV Colonials did yesterday. Hurrican Rita continues to move towards the TX and LA coast, the storm has lost some it's strength but it still very strong. The winds are at 150PMH and some futher weakening is expected. Since there is not much going here today I figured I would post a few NHL preseason games from last night, the NHL season starts 2 weeks from friday and I am ready for some NHL action. MICKEY

ICU Wins Ugly
The ICU softball team took a DH from The Hon Company 18-15 and 10-9 to improve to 6-0 on the season. We did not hit or field the ball that well in either game. The highlight of night was a Vince White 2run Hr in the first game. We got a couple more injuries also, David Gwaltney pulled his other hamstring, his other one is torn all ready. Also Ricky took a ball of his lower leg while pitching in the last ining of the second game, hopefully he will be ok. I took one in the leg also in the first game just to the left of my shin and my elbow is quite sore. MICKEY

The ICU will be without Craig Skalak who is on IR, we hope to make it thru tonights games without anymore injuries. Hurricane Rita continues to gain strength, it is now a CAT 3 Hurricane and seems to be headed for Texas. It looks like gas prices will start to rise because of this storm. Dad is off to Atlanta to see the Braves play tonight and thursday afternoon, he will be flying this morning. Skins Stun Cowboys
The Washington Redskins stunned the Dallas Cowbows 14-13 in Dallas early this morning. The Skins didn't score unitl with 3:46 left in the 4th quarter. It didn't look good with with 4 minutes left, but Mark Brunel connected on TD passes to Santana Moss for 39 and 70 yards in the last 4 minutes to give the Skins the victory. The Cowboys were stunned, Jerry Jones was walking up and down the sidleline with the look of frustration, and Joe Gibbs even had a smile on his face. Dad will be heading down to Atlanta wed morning to see the Braves play Wed night and thursday afternoon. The will be playong the Phillies, he said if anybody watches the game he will be holding a John 3:16 sign, wearing a rainbow wig, or he will be the person on the cell phone behind home plate waiving wildly. Another Monday
Well it's another monday morning which means it's the first day of the work week. After watching the Packers play yesterday it's obvious the the Pack has very little offense and ver little defense as well, I think it is going to be a very long year for the Pack. The Steelers on the other hand look like they might be the best team in the AFC after two weeks after there victory over Houston 27-7. The Skins are in Dallas tonight, I thinks it is going to be a very close game but I don't know if the Skins can pullit out or not. At Nascar race yesterday there were allot of tempers that were flairing and the end Ryan Newman got the victory, but Tony Stewart still leads the chase for the cup heading to Dover. My elbow continues to be very sore even after iceing it down pretty good this weekend, I don't know what wrong with it but it is sore, I am day to day. I have attatched a photo that I got of a message board at the beach from last week, it was taken at Slammin Sammy's. Well I am off to work. MICKEY

College Football And Other Stuff
Well UVA held on for a 27-24 victory over Syracuse, they didn't play very well in my opinion but they did get the W. The Cavs will open up ACC play next week at home as Duke visits. ECU din't fair as well as the Pirates fell to Wake 44-34, they simply could not stop the run, gave up over 400 yards on the ground. Here is what happened in the rest of the ACC West VA 31 Maryland 19, Duke 40 VMI 19, Va Tech 45 Ohio 0, Miami 36 Clemson 30 OT, NC State 54 E Kentucky 10, Ga Tech 28 UCONN 13, Wisconsin 14 UNC 5 and Fla St 28 BC 17. Georgia also got a victory over powerhouse LA Monoroe 44-7, and in a blowout USC defeated Arkansas 70-17. Teams of interst in the NFL this weekend CLE at GB-6, and after some complaints last week PITT-6 at HOU, and monday night WAS at DAL-6. The Nextel Cup Series is at NH today for the first race in the final 10 and Tony Stewart is on the poll. I made some of MICKEYS FAMOUS SOUP if anybody wants any, I have allot left over but you must bring a container to put it in. Happy Birthday To Me
Well today I turn 39 years old and I fell every bit of it, and after playing softball last night I am very sore this morning. It looks like the OBX only recieved minor damage from Hurricane Ophelia, which is very good news. The damage was only some minor wind damage and som minor flooding in the usual spots. In high school football tonight CH plays at Park View South Hill, Thomas Dale is at Varina, in GA Crawford County is at Heard County, and at the beach First Flight is North Pitt, and undefeated Manteo is at home against Williamston. I had thought about going to the CH game but decided I didn't want to take Victory Red truck to South Hill so I might catch some of the game on the radio or I just have to check the paper to see who won. The first race of the 10 race championship is this weeknd at New Hampshire, also this weekend Dale Jr gets Tony Euery Jr back as his crew chief, hopefully he can JR get back on track. MICKEY

ICU Improves To 4-0
The ICU softball team improved to 4-0 on the season tonight with a 15-5 and 10-0 victories over The Skeleton Crew. We hit the ball ok tonight but not as good as last week. We did have a couple more injuries tonight, they were a couple of hamstrings that were re-injured. There were no HR's tonight as the wind was blowing in at a moderate speed. The ICU team will be back in action next wed night at 8:15pm against the Hon Company, we will have another week for our injuries to heal. MICKEY

Hurricane Ophelia
Well Hurricane Ophelia is still on a track to go just west of KDH or right over top of KDH. The forecast has winds 20-30mph during the day increasing to arround 40mph later this afternoon. Then tonight 55-65mph winds with higher gusts and these winds will coninue thru the wed night into thursday morning, and there will also be heavy rain at times. I was reading a few message board from the OBX, and most people are saying that allot of people didn't even board there houses or businesses up, they said there were a few but for the most part nothing was done. There biggest concern is soundside flooding. MICKEY

TS Ophelia
TS Ophelia is on about the same track as it was yesterday, the winds did drop back to 70mph, so it was re-classified to a TS. The National Weather Service has issued a TS Warning for KDH and a Hurrican Watch also for KDH. If you have been watching the Weather Channel Jim Cantore has been live at the Nags Head fishing pier the last couple of days. Hopfully it won't be to bad down there on the OBX. I have posted a couple of photos that mom and dad took last week while down there. The Riverdogs have added a few more players and one is another name that should be familiar to Richmond hockey fans, Bill Vandermeer will join the Riverdogs, he is known more for scoring goals than be being a tough guy. On paper the Riverdogs have enough tough guys, they need to add a few more people who can put the puck in the net and we also need to get a top line gaolie. I have also posted a photo Al took of officer Geoff Greene at the races last weekend. MICKEY
