COLONIALS LOSE 6-4

It was another very frustrating loss for the Colonials baseball team last night at Shepherd Stadium falling to the Henrico Warriors 6-4.  I have to say you are not going to win many games when you walk 11 guys and don't hit the ball in key situations.  For some reason over the last few games we are beating ourselves and thats whats frustrating to me, sometimes you have to want it more than the other team.  In the other games yesterday Hopewell beat Varina, Monacan beat Prince George and Dinwiddie beat Clover Hill.  The Colonials will face Varina tonight at 7pm.  The Virginia baseball team will be on the road tonight at Radford to face the Highlanders before returning home tomorrow night to face the Richmond Spiders.  It looks like the weather will nice again tonight so if you don't have anything else to do come on out to the ball game.  MICKEY

RANGERS IN MUST WIN SITUATION, CAVS TO PLAY 2 TODAY

Well the New York Rangers are pretty much facing a must win situation this afternoon when the face the Washington Capitals at Madison Square Garden.  The Rangers trail in the best of 7 series 2-0 and if they go down 3-0 I don't think they will be able to come back in win the series and if they want to win somebody has to wake up the offense.  The Virginia baseball team will play a double header today against Duke, the Cavs sure could use a sweep of the Blue Devils to keep pace with everybody else in there division.  The Colonials Baseball Invitational gets underway tomorrow at Shepherd Stadium with 4 games starting at 10am and continuing Tuesday & Thursday with 4 games each day, hopefully the field will dry out by tomorrow morning so everything can go on as scheduled.  The Colonial will play 7pm each day of the Invitational.  Well I will give you 1 guess won won yesterday Nationwide race at Talladega, that right Kyle Busch won again.  Jeff Gordon won the pole for today Sprint Cup race at Talladega edging out his 3 Hendrick Motorsports teammates on the first 2 rows, Jimmie Johnson will start 2nd  with Mark Martin 3rd followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr.  If there was a race for Jr. to win it would be todays race.  MICKEY

THE RANGERS ARE IN TROUBLE, VIRGINIA WINS

Well if the New York Rangers want to move on to the 2nd round of the NHL Playoffs the had better wake up the offense.  After losing game 2 last night 2-0 the Rangers find themselves down 2-0 to the Capitals in there best of  7 playoff series.  The Virginia baseball team continued its winning ways yesterday beating Duke 10-0 in game game 1 of there 3 game weekend series and because of the impending storms today in Charlottesville will not play today but will play a doubleheader on Sunday.  They qualify today for tomorrows race Talladega weather permitting, the same system that is suppose to bring us storms today is also effecting Alabama as well.  I sure hope it does rain today to wash some of this pollen away because it is really bothering me.  MICKEY

RANGERS WILL TRY TO EVEN UP SERIES

The New York Rangers will try to even up there series with the Washington Capitals at 1 game a piece tonight in Washington.  The Rangers will try to wake up there offense while trying to keep the high scoring Capitals offense at bay.  The Virginia baseball team will play the Duke Blue Devils this weekend starting tonight however because of the impending weather they will play games 2 & 3 of the series on Sunday and there will be no game tomorrow.  The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at the Talladega Super Speedway where pretty much anything can happen and we might have another surprise winner just like we had at Daytona and Jr. could possible end his losing streak as well.  My allergies have really been bothering this week so I am hoping tomorrows rain will was some of the pollen away.  MICKEY

Allergic Rhinitis 1
Hay fever, also called allergic rhinitis, causes cold-like symptoms such as a runny nose, congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure. But unlike a cold, hay fever isn't caused by a virus ? it's caused by an allergic response to indoor or outdoor airborne allergens, such as pollen, dust mites or pet dander. Some people have hay fever year-round. For others, hay fever gets worse at certain times of the year, usually in the spring, summer or fall. One of the most common allergic conditions, hay fever affects about one in five people.

COLONIALS LOSE 7-4, CAPS TAKE GAME 1

The Colonials fell behind 3-0 in the 1st inning last against J.R. Tucker and simply were just where not able to catch up to the Tigers.  The Colonials just left to many runners on base in key situations to pull out the win and Tucker played very well defensively.  The Colonials will now be off until the Colonials Baseball Invitational next week.  The Virginia baseball team scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning yesterday against Coastal Carolina and pulled out a 8-7 win, the Cavs will now return to ACC play starting tomorrow win Duke comes to town for a 3 game series.  The Washington Capitals took game 1 against the New York Rangers last night 2-1 in OT, the Rangers will look to rebound tomorrow night in game 2 of the series.  MICKEY

COLONIALS RAINED OUT, WILL TRY AGAIN TONIGHT

Rain washed out last nights game with Thomas Dale and so far no make up date has been set but it looks like it will be after Spring Break.  The Colonials do have another scheduled game for tonight against J.R. Tucker and the start time for tonights game is 7pm.  The Virginia baseball team picked up a 4-0 win over Georgetown last night, the game was shortened to 6 innings because of rain, the Cavs will face Coastal Carolina tonight.  The Stanley Cup Playoffs start tonight with 5 series beginning tonight with the big series locally being my favorite team the New York Rangers visiting my 2nd favorite team the Washington Capitals in Washington, GO RANGERS.  MICKEY

COLONIALS BACK AT HOME TONIGHT AND TOMORROW

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be at home tonight against Thomas Dale at 6pm and tomorrow night against J.R. Tucker at 7pm weather permitting.  It seems like every time we have a game there is a pretty good chance of rain, hopefully the heavy rain will miss us and we will be able to get the game in.  Also note the time change for tomorrows game  which is 7pm instead of 6pm.  The Virginia baseball team will be back in action today as well against Georgetown and tomorrow against Coastal Carolina.  The pollen around are has been pretty bad the last few days and my allergies have really been acting up because of it, that would be one thing that the rain would help.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA FALLS IN GAME 3

Well the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets beat the Virginia Cavaliers yesterday in game 3 of there weekend series yesterday at Georgia Tech 10-8 ending Virginia's winning streak at 12 games.  The Cavs fell behind early in the game and were playing catchup the rest of the game and just were never able to get over the hump to get the win.  Virginia will face Georgetown Tuesday, Coastal Carolina on Wednesday and the Return to ACC play at home against Duke next weekend.  The Colonial Heights baseball team will play 2 game this week both at home, the Colonial will face Thomas Dale tomorrow night at 6pm and the face J.R. THE RANGERS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS, VIRGINIA TAKES GAME 2

The New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils yesterday afternoon 5-2 keeping there playoff chances alive waiting for last night Tampa Bay vs Carolina game where the Lightning beat the Hurricanes 6-2 sending the Rangers to Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The good news is the Rangers are in the playoffs but the bad new is they have to play the Washington Capitals in the 1st round.  These 2 teams are my favorite 2 teams in the NHL and I would be rooting for the Caps if they were playing anybody else but the Rangers but I will be rooting for the Rangers in this series.  Well the Virginia Cavaliers baseball team beat Georgia Tech again yesterday to take game 2 of there series 12-9 and will be looking for the series sweep this afternoon, with the win yesterday the Cavs improved to 31-2 Overall and 13-1 in the ACC.  Matt Kenseth won yesterday Nascar race at Texas last night, I have to say it was a pretty ho hum race.  Also we got a t-storm last night and a pretty good rain as well and I don't even think they were calling for any rain last night.  Well I am going to try to finish up my VHSL test today so I will probably have headache by tonight.  MICKEY

COLONIALS FALL 3-0, VIRGINIA WINS

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team lost to Blessed Sacrament Huguenot last night 3-0 last night Shepherd Stadium.  The Colonials offense couldn't push any runs across the plate in the game and the defense was a bit suspect itself and I have to say there is no defense for the walk.  With the loss the Colonials fall to 5-2 on the season will return to Central District action when Thomas Dale visits Shepherd Stadium.  The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team took game 1 of there weekend series at Georgia Tech knocking of the Yellow Jackets 6-2, they will play game 2 of the series today.  Well it looks like the New York Rangers may miss the NHL playoffs again this year, if they want to get in they have to beat New Jersey today in regulation time and have to have Carolina lose to Tampa but right now the Hurricanes may be the hottest team in hockey.  David Ragan captured the pole for tonights Nascar race at the Texas Motor Speedway, Carl Edwards won last night Nationwide race at the Texas Motor Speedway.  My weekend hasn't go off to the best of starts losing last nights baseball game and then coming home to find out that the dryer is broke.  I am hoping to turn my luck around today.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN UGLY, VIRGINIA AT GEORGIA TECH

Well I guess sometimes you have to win ugly, well yesterday sure was one of those days as the Colonials pulled out 5-4 win over Meadowbrook.  For some reason when we go to that place we never seem to play very well, in the last 7 years it seem every game has been pretty close out there for the most part.  We only had 4 hits in the game and fortunately we were able to push a run across in the top of the 7th  and held on for the win, Josh Markins picked up his 2nd win in as many days.  We are scheduled to play Blessed Sacrament Huguenot tonight weather permitting.  The Virginia baseball team starts a big ACC series today at Georgia Tech in a battle for 1st place in the ACC.  The New York Rangers suffered a huge loss last night losing to the Atlanta Thrashers 3-0, with the loss the Rangers do not control there own destiny and now will need some help to get into the playoffs.  The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.  MICKEY

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team improved 4-1 yesterday with a 23-0 win at Hopewell yesterday, in the win the Colonials racked up 21 hits in the game.  The Colonials will be back in action tonight at 5pm at Meadowbrook and are scheduled to return home tomorrow but it looks like tomorrow could be a rain-out.  The Cincinnati Big Red Machine improved to 5-0 yesterday beating the Astros 12-4, the Reds will face the Astros again this afternoon before hitting the road tomorrow to Arizona.  If the New York Rangers want to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year they need to beat Atlanta tonight, currently the Rangers lead the Hurricanes by 2 points for the final spot and trail 7th place Buffalo by 1 point.  If the the Rangers win tonight and Saturday they are in the playoffs if they lose either games there is a pretty good chance they will miss the playoffs.  GO RANGERS.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN BIG, UCONN WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team came out swinging yesterday at L.C. Bird beating the Skyhawks 18-4 in 5 innings at Bird yesterday.  The Colonials racked up 17 hits in the win and are scheduled to play at Matoaca tonight weather permitting.  Also a scheduling update the Colonials will be at Hopewell on Wednesday night at 6pm making it a 5 game week and of course that is weather permitting.  The Virginia baseball team will be at home today against Radford.  UCONN won the National Championship in basketball last night beating Butler 53-41, Butler simply just just couldn't make any shots.  We had a pretty good t-storm come through Colonial Heights this morning around 5am, one good thing is that the storms were moving pretty quick so we didn't get a tremendous amount of rain.  MICKEY

COLONIALS ON THE ROAD AT BIRD, VIRGINIA SWEEPS VA. TECH

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be on the road at L.C. Bird tonight at 5pm and it actually looks like it is not going to rain for a change.  This will be the 1st game in a week where we have 4 games, we are suppose to be at Matoaca tomorrow but it is suppose to rain before going to Meadowbrook on Thursday and returning home on Friday night.  The Virginia baseball team completed there sweep of Virginia Tech yesterday knocking off the the Hokies again this time by the score of 10-2.  I went over and watched the ODU vs VCU baseball game yesterday in which the Monarchs won 8-5.  Kevin Harvick won yesterdays race at Martinsville passing Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the final laps to pick up the win, Kyle Busch leads Carl Edwards in the point standings.  Well I didn't root for Butler on Saturday night but I will be rooting for the Bulldogs tonight against UCONN.  MICKEY

THE BUTLER DID IT, VIRGINIA WINS AGAIN

The Butler Bulldogs ended the VCU Rams dream season last night in Houston knocking off the Rams 70-62 in Houston.  The Rams just couldn't in sync, they went on a couple of runs but they just didn't play as well as they did in the previous games on tournament and I think Butler had allot to do with that.  Butler will move on to the championship game for the 2nd year in a row where they will face UCONN who beat Kentucky 56-55, I will be rooting for the Bulldogs.  The Virginia baseball continued to play well again yesterday beating Virginia Tech 9-3, the Cavs will go for the series sweep this afternoon in Blacksburg.  Jamie McMurray captures the pole for todays Sprint Cup race at the Martinsville edging Ryan Newman for the top spot.  I thin me, dad & Al or going over to the Diamond this afternoon to watch ODU face VCU in college baseball action.  Between watching the basketball and baseball games on TV yesterday I was working on a VHLS coaches test, I finished 1 part of the test but still need to another section to finish the class.  MICKEY

BUTLER ENDS VCU'S RUN

BUTLER 70 VCU 62

VCU 1 WIN AWAY FROM THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The only thing thats stands between the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams and NCAA Championship game are the Butler Bulldogs who will be looking to return the championship game again this year.  Last year the Bulldogs lost to Duke in  the championship game and the only less probable than them returning to the championship game is VCU playing for the right to play for the national championship.  Needless to say who ever wins todays game will be underdogs in championship game against either Kentucky or UCONN, I will be rooting hard for the Rams today but if they lose I will be rooting for Butler to win it all.  The Virginia baseball team fell behind 2-0 after the 1st inning to Virginia Tech but rallied 18-3 win over the Hokies, the Cavs had 16 hits in the game and our now 26-2 on the season and 9-1 in the ACC.  They will qualify today for tomorrows Sprint Cup race at Martinsville, David Ragan was the fastest in practice yesterday followed by Jeff Gordon.  I guess you figured out by now that we where rained out again yesterday on the diamond, we already have 4 games scheduled next week and there is a possibility that we may play 5 and of the 4 we have scheduled 3 are on the road.  GO RAMS, MICKEY

IT'S APRIL FOOLS DAY, WILL WE BE ABLE TO PLAY TONIGHT

Well don't let anybody fool you today by saying VCU is in the Final Four because it's true and the Rams will play Butler tomorrow night with the winner moving on to the NCAA Championship game on Monday night.  Well we are going to try again tonight to play another game this time at Hopewell, yesterdays home game with Prince George was washed out and the game will be rescheduled top a later date.  The Virginia baseball team will start a 3 game series at Virginia Tech today, the Cavs are #1 in the nation in several polls.  The Nascar Sprint Cup Series returns to the Commonwealth this weekend at Martinsville, I think there could be a few paybacks this weekend.  I sure hope the suns comes out today and dries the filed so we can play tonight. Also I have enclosed a baseball video I saw on Youtube last night. MICKEY
