But its still early.Well that was our news flash so be sure to pass it along as I have lost most everyones email addresses. take care and hope all is well ...See ya George. George do you ever look at the blog anymore, haven't seen any comments lately, MICKEY
Well It's Middle Week
Well it's the middle of the week and it has been very qiute around here for the most part. The area where the hurricane hit is just a mess and the situation seems to be getting worst by the day. As the news get to the areas where they haven't been yet the video and pictures they take are just just devastating. The ACC season gets underway tommorrow with Vanderbilt playing at Wake Forest, the Demon Deacons are favored by more than a TD. I will have some comments on the other big games this weeknd from around VA and the country on friday. I will be going to see the Duke at ECU game saturday, hopefully the new coach at ECU will turn things around, Skip Holtz is the new coach. I have enclosed an old photo found of Claire and Bobby. Katrina Causes Major Damage And Loss Of Life
Katrina caused major damage yesterday in LA, MISS, and AL. The storm has killed at least 55 people and officials with emergency management say they are afraid that # will go up greatly. The pictures and video from the area are just unbelievable. It could weeks till months before some of that are that was effected will have power again. Scott did you see any tornados yesterday in Crawford County, I saw that there was a possible tornado there yesterday. It was a pretty nice day here in CH yesterday, but it is going to be hot and humid the next few days with a chance of t-storms. This storm make Isabel look like a minor storm, and we know how much dicomfort we had with that storm. Well the only good news that I see this week is that college football starts this week. MICKEY

Hurricane Katrina Makes Landfall
It looks like Hurricane Katrina will make landfall before 8am this morning in the area just east of New Orleans. The Weather Channel says the eye should cross over the area of Grand Isle or just east of that. The winds are about 150mph this morning which is down from 175mph but still very strong. The storm has picked up some foward speed and it still appears that the remnants will miss VA and it may give GA a little rain. It is going to be a long day in Miss and La today. MICKEY

Is This Scott At THe Football Game Friday Night?
Hurricane Katrina Bearing Down On Miss Or La Coast
It looks like Hurricane Katrina will either hit the LA or MISS coast sometime monday. This storm is a CAT 5 storm with winds sustained at 160MPH, this storm they say is stronger than Camille now. I have enclosed a SAT photo of the storm and a projected path also, this storm huge in size and the eye is 30 miles wide. If a storm of this size hit the OBX I don't know if anything would be left. What about the race last night in Bristol, it was a pretty wild one and tempers were very short at the end of the race. I think Newman got what he deserved, and I am glad Jarrett put him back in his place. I know he said he didn't mean to wreck Jarrett on purpose but he did, and if you can dish it out on the track you have be able to take it. I would have rather seen Burton or Rudd win though. I will he heading back to CH later today, and Donna don't forget you have to go back to school monday, MICKEY

High School Football
Scott sent me this report from Ga, First half was a defensive battle that sent both teams to the locker room tied at zip, although cchs had a slight advantage in the field position game. After the half time break the mighty eagles came out fired up and managed to grind out two touchdowns on the ground behind the speedy yet tough running back danny glover #2. the point after on the first TD was good and the second was wide left. The eagle defense was tough in the first half , but they were stifiling in the second pinning taylor county down on their own goal line late in the fourth quarter forcing them to punt. But the snap went over the punters head and out of the end zone for a safety. So the Crawford county eagles break their 10 game losing streak and beat their arch rivals in the season opener 15-0 their was a good crowd at the game and both teams were represented well. Here at the beach First Flight lost 34-6 to Camden. I went to the CH scrimmage last night and the Colonials looked a bit rusty, while I was there Nottoway scored one TD and the Colonials didn't score. The Colonials have two weeks to work out the bugs. All photos taken by Scott. MICKEY

Andrew's Visit To Camden Yards
Al's Photo In Times Dispatch
One of Al's racing photos was in the the Times Dispatch this morning on the last page of the sports section. The TD did a story on a driver from VMS and used on of his photos in the story. Donna said she just got back from a redneck vacation, she went to NC with her daughter Julianne to visit several of the Nextel Cup team shops, and she says she only got lost a few times. Tonight is a big night in Crawford County as the Eagles play there arch rival Taylor County in football, from what I have heard those Taylor County boys are mean. At the beach First Flight is back in action tonight as they play at Camden, the Nighthawks lost last week to Northside. The Colonials football team has a scrimmage game against Nottoway tonight at the CHHS football field. It still looks like Hurricane Katrina is heading towards GA, but it looks like it might take a more westerly track now thru GA instead of right over Knoxville GA. Well I am of to work, MICKEY

College Football Starts A Week From Today
Well college football will start a week from today with several games around the country with a couple of games of interest around here with UMass at Richmond and Vanderbilt at Wake Forest. Then most of the rest of teams around here play on saturday and Va Tech plays NC State on sunday. I don't know about you but I am ready for some colllege football. Scott it appears TS Katrina is heading right towards Crwaford County by tuesday, it could bring allot rain to the area it crosses. Where has everybody been the last few days it has been awful quite here on the blog. MICKEY

Cool Day In CH
It was a pretty cool day yesterday here in CH and we didn't get as much rain as the weatherman thought. The temps the rest of the week are suppose to be in the mid 80's. We had another softball practice last night and it appears that opening night will be the wed after labor day, I will let everybody know for sure though when we get the schedule. The Braves had better get back on track because the Phillies are closing fast along with Fla and Washington. Scott send me some reunion photos if you get a chance, and are the Crawford County boys ready for the big matchup against Taylor County. It won't be long now before all high school, collges and the NFL will playing every week. I have an enclosed an old sunrise photo from the OBX. MICKEY

Waterspout On Hatteras Island
It Looks Like A Cool Rainy Day
It looks like it is going to be a cool rainy day here in CH, it is only suppose to get 82 and there is a 50-50 shot of rain. We could have used these cool temps this past weeknend. Scott said he made it home around 12:30am monday, he did most of the driving but some relief driving from Joy the last two hours of the trip. Keith is in Detroit this week som maybe we can get a report about whats going on out there. The Riverdogs have signed another former Renegade with signing of Ryan Van Buskirk, he is very good checker but he is injury prone and he does play with a bit of an edge. I have enclosed a photo that I got of the web of Nags Head from years ago, the area in the photo is that around the old Footsball Palace and the Nags Head Fishing Pier. MICKEY

Class Of 85 Reunion
Well we made it to the CHHS class of 85 reunion last night, me and Scott didn't think we would remember that many people but I think more people remembered us than them. We did see quite a few people that we hadn't seen since high school and some that I see around CH all the time. We are going to finish the reunion up today with a cookout at Whit Bank. Al and Donna took Dusty and Scottie to VMS while we were at the reunion, they were suppose to be hawking pictures, I will have to see how they did with that. Scott, Joy, Dusty, and Scottie will be heading back to GA after the cookout today. Also today we have softball practice at 7pm tonight, I hope we can make it thru practice without getting anybody hurt, we are closing in on the start of the season. Well it is going to be hot for one more day here in CH and then it looks like we will get a break from the heat for most of the week. As you can tell I have a busy day ahead of me so I will talk to evrybody monday on Mickey's Place. MICKEY

Friday Night At The Diamond
Well it was a good game for a while for the R-Braves and then the top of the 7th came and the Braves blew it. The firt pitcher only gave up 1 hit thru 6.1 innings abd they took him out and the bullpen was terrible. The R-Braves led 3-0 before they gave up 7 unawnsered runs, final score Mudhens 7 Braves 3. After the game we all went out to eat at Pietros Pizza in Chester before calling it a night. The rest of today was pretty good except for the rain we had early in the day, the next two days are going to be pretty warm though. MICKEY

Well It's My Favorite Day Of The Week
Well you guessed it it's my favorite day of the week friday. It has been a pretty busy week and it's going to be a pretty busy weekend also. Scott and family made it to town yesterday afternoon and will be here till sunday afternoon. We all at dinner last night at Donna's house and it was pretty good, I think there was 12 of us there. We are all suppose to go see the R-Braves play weather permitting tonight, there is a chance of t-storms. Leeza is still coughing pretty bad with her kennel cough, I thought that she was getting better a couple of days ago, but last night she really sounded bad. Dad thinks he heard Brady coughing also during the night, but so far this morning I haven't seen him cough thank goodness. Well I am of to work, have a good friday. MICKEY

Scott And Family On The Way
Well Scott and the the rest of his family are on there way from Ga to VA. They are coming in town for CHHS 20 year high school reunion, they will be staying at Al's Hotel. The computer still isn't completely all right but I can still post on Mickey's Place. Since it is quite today I thought I would post some art work that I have been working on for a couple of weeks. Day Off To A Rainy Start
Well the day has got off to a rainy start, but it does look like is about to stop on the radar. It is suppose to get to around 85 today with a chance of afternoon t-storms. The computer is running all right right now but I have not turned it off and restarted it since yesterday, I still cannot run a Nortons Live Update though. The Riverdogs added a fan favorite back to the mix yesterday with the signing of Dan Vandermeer, he played to the last two seasons in the ECHL for Long Beach and Idaho. With the signing they have had so far it doesn't look like the are going to score many goals but they should be pretty tough. MICKEY

Showing His Spirit
Computer Is Better, But Not Right
Well the computer is a bit better tonight but it is not full functional. I am able to get on the internet, but allot other programs are not working. I cannot update my Nortons disk and I cannot scan mail coming in, which is not good. We had one heck of a storm last night in CH, it was some of the worst lightning we have had in years, and we got some much needed rain. We also had some more storms tonight but they were not quite as bad as last nights. Scott and family will be making the trip to VA thursday for our 20th high school reunion which will be held this weekend, we are really getting old. Anybody have any old photos or new ones for that matter send them to me and the might show up on Mickey's Place. MICKEY
Computer Problems
I am having some pretty bad computer problems here in CH, I don't know what is causing the problem. I can't check e-mail and windows won't start correctly. I am going to try to fix the porblem after work, don't know know if I can though. MICKEY

Well I Am Back From The Beach
Well I got back from the beach last night just after 8pm. It was pretty hot down there this weekend and it looked like the crowds are starting to thin out a bit from all the summer vacations. I did try to take some sunrise photos yesterday morning but the fog was just to dense, the air temp was around 80 and the ocean was about 61. The only place it was foggy was the over the water but was dense. It looks like after today here in CH it will cool off a bit, today it is suppose to be 95 but after today it looks like it is going to be in the mid 80's most of the week. It also looks like we might get some rain over the next few days, we sure could use some. Stay cool today, MICKEY

Mickey Is At The Beach
Well Mickey is back at the beach this weekend and I think the heat has followed be down here. I have been pretty busy this morning, I went out and ran about 3.5 miles and the I cut the grass at our house and at Tina's next door and I did all that before noon. Dad had to go back to CH from KDH because Me Ma Ruth was having some severe leg pain and had to the hospital. They couldn't find anything that was causing the pain at SRMC, she is back at home now, they did give her some medicene for the pain. MICKEY

I Am Very Sore
I am a very sore individual this morning after softball practice last night. This is about as sore as I have been since the start of high school baseball practice. My neck, shoulder, big right toe, right elbow, left hand, and my hip are all sore this morning. I think everybody might be right I am just getting to old for all this. I will be heading down to the beach tonight for the weekend, I am going to be rideing down with Glenn and his girlfriend and coming back with dad sunday night. The victory red truck needs a break this weekend. The current track of Tropical Storm Irene keeps off the coast of NC and Va which is good news, but should still keep an eye on this storm. I hope everybody stays cool today. MICKEY

The Heat Is Back On
Well it looks like the heat has returned to CH at least for the 5 days, the temp will range from 94 to 98 over that time with indexes well above 100. The chance of rain during this period is also very low. Tropical Storm Irene could be our next shot of rain but the storm still might stay out at sea, the storm projection still have it in the Atlantic thru tuesday, but it will close to the NC coast by then. The Riverdogs signed two players that if combined there weight would be over 700 pounds, now those are some pretty big guys. We have softball practice again tonight and our first game should be in about two weeks, I will keep everybody updated on that, we might need some fans at the games. MICKEY

A True Colonial At Heart
This photo was sent to me from the beach today, he keeps saying he is not a Colonial fan but every time I look he has a CH hat on. It seems every time that he has at the beach he wears his CH hat, there could be some bad influences on him down there. Well everything went ok at the dentist today and I don't have to go back until Feb, thank goodness. It looks like Tropical Depression Irene is getting more organized and is heading towards the Carolinas, hopefully it will turn out to sea. In closing it looks like Andrew is a Colonial at heart. Well It Has Been Pretty Quiet
Well it has been pretty quiet around here the last couple of days. We did have softball practice for about 2 hours last night and I was a little sore from that today but not as bad as I thought was going to be. I am going to visit Me Ma Ruth tonight to catch up with everything she knows about whats going on around town. I have to go the one of my leat favorite places wed the dreaded dentist, I am going just for a checkup and hopefully he won't find nothing wrong with my teeth. I have enclosed a photo of a couple of shady cutomers taken earlier in the summer. MICKEY

Back To The Grind
Well it's back to the grind today, after doing nothing but relaxing last week I am sure that I will be tired this afternoon from a long day of work. Also tonight we have softball practice so I am sure that I will be sore in the morning since I haven't thrown or swung a bat in the last 10 days. MICKEY

Last Day Of Vacation
Well I am on my last day of vacation today, it has been a very good week for the most part and I got alot of much needed rest. I guess it will be back to the grind monday at work, at least schools haven't started yet, I will have a few weeks before it gets real busy at work. It is only two weeks before we have our 20 year high school reunion, it seems like I just got out yesterday. Scott and Joy and the rest of the family will be coming up for the reunion. Scott how has your dad been doing the lat few days? I have posted some photos that mom and dad took at the WB Memorial last night. It looks like the the 38 car may be the one to beat today at the Brickyard, but don't count JR out just yet. MICKEY

Vacation Just About Over
Well my vacation is just about over, I will be heading home sometime sunday. Yesterday was a pretty nice day down here in KDH and today should be about the same. The temp is suppose to be in the upper 80's and there isn't much of a chance of rain. We went to the Dunes for supper last night and I think we are going to go to the Lone Cedar tonight to finish out the week. Today is Dad's birthday and I have posted acouple of photos of the birthday boy below, so I everybody wih him a Happy Birthday. Leeza is still coughing a bit but hopefully it will go away soon, she goes in spurts where doesn't cough at all, and then it sounds like she can't stop coughing. Well I hope everybody has a good day. The Ocean Was Like Bath Water
Well I made it down to the ocean today and the H20 temp was luke warm 82 degrees. There are no photos of my trip to the beach because mom forgot to bring the camera with her, so we took a few photos at the house when we get back from the beach. I might make it back to ocean friday but then again I might not. We had leftover bbq tonight for supper and it was just as good as it was the other other night. It looks like we will be eating out friday, but we have not decided where yet. Don't forget to check the Mr. Cool photos bellow. MICKEY
Vacation Going Well
Well so far my vacation is going very well, I haven't done anything but eat, sleep, and run for the most part. I might make it down to the ocean today, it is suppose to be in the upper 80's but the water is also around 80 which means the jelleyfish will be out also, and I don't care for them at all. We had some more home cooking last night, mom made some spaghetti, and yes it was pretty good. We haven't decided what we are going to have tonight yet, but I think dad is going to cook something on the grill but hasn't decided what. Well dad will be haveing a birthday on saturday and I think he might be going thru Ukrop's cake withdrawl since he won't have one of there cakes on his birthday, I am sure he will make up for it on monday when he is at home and get one then. Well I need to go burn off a few calories, I am heading out run. MICKEY

Alot Of Things Going On Here At The Beach
Well there were alot of things goin on here down in KDH today. The people finished up putting the new storm windows and they put the handles on the slideing door to finish the project. The windows look good and the only thing left for them to do is to come get all there ladders from the side of the house. After the finished up I cut the grass at our place and next door and that took about two hours. I also went running at WB Memorial this morning and hit the treadmill this afternoon. Dad cooked steaks on the grill for supper and they were pretty good, he said Al taught him everything he knows about cooking steaks on the grill. Well needless to say I didn't make it to the ocean today, I was just to busy. By the way Leeza is doing better, she did sleep most of the night, she only had a few coughing episodes but the were very mild. MICKEY

Football Photos
Scott, sent me these photos of Dusty and the rest of the 2005 Crawford County Eagles. MICKEY
The Sun Has Come Out
Well the sun has finally came out down here in KDH. It rained all night and was drizzling this morning when I got up but now it is nice day here in KDH with sun out and temps in the low 80's. We had to take Leeza to the vet this morning because she has had a bad cough for the last couple of days. The vet said she has kennel cough and gave her a shot and some antibiotics, kennel cough is extremely contagious between animals so hopefully Brady won't get it. Leeza sounded awful the last two nights. I have some new photos to post but for some reason the program that I use to post them on the blog isn't working, I am trying to fix the problem. Mom is cooking Scott's favorite thing tonight bbq, I know how much he likes it, I am sure that I will eat to much tonight. Well I need to go run so I can burn a few calories before supper. MICKEY
