VIRGINIA FALLS AT N.C. STATE

The Virginia baseball teams winning streak came to an end last night at the hands of the N.C. State Wolfapack when the Pack knocked off the Cavs 5-1.  They will play game 2 of the series tonight in Raleigh.  Speaking of winning streaks the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League extended it's winning streak to 22 straight games last night at the Scope beating the St. Johns IceCaps 2-1, the Admirals will go for there 23rd straight win on Tuesday night.  The will qualify today for tomorrows race at Martinsville, the truck series will race at at Martinsville today which will be there series 1st race since Daytona.  We got a little bit of rain here in the Heights this morning however it looks like it is starting to clear now.  They will play the semi-final games of the Final Four today with Louisville facing Kentucky followed by Ohio State vs Kansas.  I really just cant get that excited about this years Final Four, everybody who is in it is suppose to be there just no underdogs to pull for.  MICKEY

MATOACA WINS

Well it has been a pretty tough week for the Colonials baseball team going 1-2 and being shutout twice.  Last night Matoaca beat the Colonials 9-0, the Warriors are now in a 1st place tie with Dinwiddie for the tops spot in the Central District at 3-0 while Colonial Heights falls to 2-1 in the district.  Next week the Colonials will travel to Hopewell on Tuesday and will be at home against Dinwiddie on Thursday.  The Virginia baseball team opens a 3 game series tonight at N.C. State.  The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will be in Virginia for the 1st time this year when they race at Martinsville this weekend.  Also tonight they will dray again for the Mega Millions lottery which is worth an estimated $540 million dollars.  I sure am glad that it is Friday.  MICKEY

COLONIALS BACK AT HOME AGAIN TONIGHT

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be back at home again tonight against the Matoaca Warriors at 6pm.  It looks like it is going to be a good night for baseball and both teams enter the game 2-0 in the Central District.  The Virginia baseball team improved to 17-8 on the season last night with a 19-5 win over Towson, the Cavs will travel down to Raleigh this weekend to play a 3 game series with the N.C. State.  My allergies have really been acting up the last few days and I have feeling it is going to get a whole lot worst before it gets better.  MICKEY

COLONIALS PICK UP ANOTHER WIN

The Colonial Heights baseball team picked up its 4th win of the season last night beating Petersburg last night 15-5.  The Colonials had 12 hits in the game with 5 of those being doubles but the defense still is not where it needs to be, we committed another 3 errors yesterday.  The Colonials will be back at home tomorrow night against the Matoaca Warriors at 6pm.  The Virginia baseball team continued it's winning ways last night beating Towson 8-0, the Cavs will face them again tonight before heading down to N.C. State for a 3 game series this weekend.  After being in the upper 50's yesterday the temps will return to the low 80's today and into the 70's tomorrow and Friday, it was a bit on the cool side last night.  Have a good day.  MICKEY

COLONIALS FALL TO BIRD 6-0

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team suffered it's 1st loss of the season last night falling to L.C. Bird 6-0.  Bird jumped to quick lead in the 1st inning and never looked back and the Bird pitcher kept the Colonials hitter off balance the entire game limiting the Colonials hitters to 2 hits and I have say they weren't to pretty.  The Colonials defense didn't have a good as well committing 5 errors on the day.  The Colonials will be back at home tonight against Petersburg at 6pm.  The Virginia baseball team will be back in action tonight at home against Towson looking to to extend it's winning streak to 5 games.  Well I do have to say it feels much better the next day when you win than it does when you lose.  MICKEY

COLONIALS RETURN HOME TONIGHT, VIRGINIA SWEEPS CLEMSON

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team return home tonight at 5pm at to face the L.C. Bird Skyhawks if the field isn't to wet.  With all the rain we had Saturday I am sure that the field will be a bit soft but hopefully the  sun and the wind will dry the field out.  The Virginia baseball team beat Clemson again yesterday completing the sweep of the Tigers in there weekend series, the Cavs won yesterday 6-3.  Tony Stewart won yesterdays rain shortened race at the California Speedway with Kyle Busch finishing 2nd, next weekend the Nascar Sprint Cup series heads to the Martinsville Speedway.  Well this years Final Four is now set and there are no real surprises this year, next weekend Louisville will face Kentucky and Ohio Sate will face Kansas.  The lowest seed remaining is a #4 seed.  Well I am off to work.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA LOOKS FOR A SERIES SWEEP

The Virginia baseball team beat Clemson yesterday 5-1 and will be looking for a series sweep this afternoon when the face the Tigers in the final game of the series.  The Cavs Brandon Kline threw a complete game only allowing 2 hits in  the game and catcher and the DH Derek Fisher homered for the Cavs.  The Colonial Heights baseball has very busy week schedule with 3 games in 4 days starting tomorrow and all 3 games are at home.  The Colonials will face L.C. Bird at 5pm tomorrow, Petersburg Tuesday at 6pm, and Matoaca Thursday at 6pm.  Joey Logano won yesterdays Nationwide race at the California Speedway holding off Rickey Stenhouse Jr. for the win, Elliott Sadler leads Stenhouse Jr. by 18 points in the series standings.  In the AHL last night the Norfolk Admirals won there 20th straight game last night beating Albany 4-3.  Fellow blogger AL had a big birthday bash at his house last night, I think there was about 40-50 people there.  Scott and the rest of his family will be heading back to Georgia later this morning.  MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL, VIRGINIA WINS

Well today is my brother and fellow blogger Al Goulder's 50th birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL.  Al got a bit of a surprise last night when Scott, Joy, Dusty and Scottie came by to visit him for his birthday, they came up from Georgia yesterday for the weekend.  The Virginia baseball team pick up a much needed win the ACC last night beating Clemson 6-3, they are going to try to play game 2 of the series this afternoon however it looks like it is going to rain.  Speaking of rain it looks we are going to have a pretty good chance of it here in Colonial Heights the next 2 days.  Denny Hamlin won the pole yesterday for this weekends Sprint Cup race edging out Kyle Busch for the tops spot, the Nationwide Series will race at California this afternoon.  I have to say for the second week in a row the donuts at Dunkin Donuts where very good.  MICKEY

COLONIALS NOW 3-0, CLEMSON AT VIRGINIA

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team improved 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Central District with a 13-4 win over Thomas Dale yesterday.  The Colonials broke open a very close game with a 8 run 6th inning en-route to the victory.  The Colonials were lead by Mack Krupp who picked up the win on the mound and the bat he homered and tripled.  The Colonials had 12 hits in the game including multiple hit games by Clay Snellings, Matt Hettinger, and Drew Mehfoud.  The Colonials will return to action on Monday against L.C. Bird on Monday at 5pm at Shepherd Stadium.  The Virginia baseball team opens up a 3 game series today at home against Clemson.  In the NCAA basketball tournament last night Syracuse, Louisville, Florida and Ohio State all won there games and moved on to the Elite 8.  This week the Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be at the California Speedway.  I sure am glad that is Friday.  MICKEY

COLONIAL HEIGHTS AT THOMAS DALE

The Colonial Heights Colonial baseball team will visit Thomas Dale this afternoon at 5pm in the Central District opener for both teams weather permitting.  With all the heavy rain we had yesterday afternoon and the chance of rain again this afternoon there is a chance the field could be unplayable.  Hopefully the sun will come out early today and dry things up and the storms will stay away this afternoon.  The Virginia baseball team picked up a much needed win yesterday beating VMI 12-3, the Cavs will play Clemson at home this weekend in ACC play.  With all the rain we had yesterday it is a bit foggy out there so be careful on your way to work or to school this morning.  MICKEY

RAIN LAST NIGHT

Well we got some much needed rain last night and there is about 40% chance that we will see a bit more rain today as well.  However with the rain there is allot of pollen in the drainage ditches and my allergies are really bothering me.  I don't know what the grass and tree pollen has been the last few days but all I can tell you is that I have been extremely congested and I haven'e slept very well because of it.  Well there is not a whole lot else going on so I am heading to work.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA SWEPT BY FLORIDA STATE

For the 2nd straight night the Virginia baseball team lead Florida State entering the bottom of the 8th inning only to have Florida State take the lead in the bottom of the eighth and hold off the Cavs in the top of the 9th inning. With the win the Seminoles swept the Cavs in the weekend series, the Cavs just cant seem to get over the edge and close out the games right now.  The Cavs will host VMI tomorrow before hosting Clemson this weekend.  The New York Rangers picked up a big win over the New Jersey Devils 4-2 lat night, the Rangers needed to win last night to maintain there lead in the NHL Atlantic Division, the Rangers lead the Penguins by 3 points and the Flyers by 5 points.  Yesterday was a very rough day on my sinuses.  MICKEY

KESELOWSKI WINS AT BRISTOL, NORFOLK STATE FALLS

Brad Keselowski won yesterdays Sprint Cup race at Bristol holding off Matt Kenseth and all 3 MWR entries for the win.  I have to say the race just didn't have the excitement that most racing fans have come accustomed to at Bristol and you really could tell that by the number of empty seats at Bristol yesterday.  Bristol was once the toughest ticket on the circuit now because of the economy ans the type of racing it just inst anymore.  The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide series will head to California next weekend.  The last team for the state of Virginia in the NCAA basketball tournament the Norfolk Stat Spartans season came to an end at the hands of the Florida Gators who crushed the Spartans 84-50, the Gators just like they did against Virginia just had to much depth for the Spartans.  The Virginia baseball team had very tough loss at Florida State yesterday falling to the Seminoles 4-3, the Cavs lead the game all the way to bottom of the 8th inning.  The Cavs will try to avoid being swept by Florida State tonight.  The Colonials only have 1 baseball game this week and that gamne will be Thursday at Thomas Dale.  MICKEY

INDIANA ENDS VCU'S SEASON, NORFOLK STATE LOOKS FOR ANOTHER WIN

The Indiana Hoosiers ended the VCU Rams season last night with 63-61 win over the Rams.  The Rams lead most of the game and most of the 2nd half before Indiana took the lead 63-61 in the final seconds and held on to win.  The Rams had 1 last shot as time ran that hit the rim and bounced out ending the Rams season, even though they lead most of the game VCU just didn't shoot that well all night but there defense kept them in the game.  Well there is now only 1 team left from Virginia now that VCU & Virginia have departed and that team is the Norfolk State Spartans who will face the Florida Gators today.  The Virginia baseball team got pounded by Florida State last night 12-3, the Cavs actually lead this game 3-0 before the Seminoles took control of the game.  They will play game 2 today of the series with game 3 set for tomorrow.  Elliott Sadler won yesterdays Nationwide race at Bristol holding of Kasey Kahne for the win, the Sprint Cup Series will take to the track today.  Yesterday was the busiest day by far this year on Mickey's Place, there were 390 visitors from 35 different countries and they came from 189 different cities.  It seems that the words St. Patrick's Day and VCU were keywords allot of people used to land at Mickey's Place.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN, UPSETS IN THE NCAA, HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season last night with a 3-1 win over Manchester.  The Colonials got a tremendous pitching effort from Mack Krupp who threw a complete game striking out 12 and a couple of key hits from David Markins and Matt Hettinger in the win.  The Colonials next game will be Thursday at Thomas Dale which will be the Central District opener for both teams.  The Virginia baseball will open up a 3 game series at Florida State today.  There were some huge upsets in yesterdays NCAA basketball tournament but unfortunately the Virginia Cavaliers where not 1 of them.  The Cavs got crushed by Florida yesterday 71-45, the Cavs played it pretty close for about 15 minutes before Florida just dominated the rest of the game.  There were 2 huge upsets with #2 teams falling, I have to give a big hats off to the Norfolk State Spartans who beat Missouri 86-84 shocking the Tigers.  The biggest surprise of the tournament though has to be Lehigh just stunning Duke last night 75-70 and I am sure allot of people in the Elite 8 if not the Final Four.  The VCU Rams will be looking to continue the NCAA tournament run tonight when they face the Indiana Hoosiers in Portland, Oregon where Hoosiers 6 point favorites but the Rams like playing the underdog role.  Greg Biffle captured the pole for this weekends Nascar race at Bristol edging A.J. Allmendinger for the top spot, the Nationwide series will race today Bristol.  Well I hope everybody has a HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY, and hopefully some of the luck of the Irish will go the VCU Rams way tonight.  MICKEY

VCU MOVES ON, VIRGINIA PLAYS TODAY, COLONIALS AT HOME AGAIN TONIGHT

The VCU Rams won there 1st game in this years NCAA basketball tournament 62-59 holding off Wichita State's late run.  The Rams actually lead by as many as 13 in the 2nd half and then trailed by 3 in the final minutes before they were able to pull out the win.  The Rams will now face Indiana on Saturday, the Hoosiers beat New Mexico State last night.  The Virginia basketball team will play Florida this afternoon at 2pm in Omaha, Nebraska.  The Cavs will have to play very good defense against the Gators to come away with the win, the other team in the tournament from Virginia the Norfolk State Spartans will face Missouri today.  THe Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will be at home again tonight at 5pm against Manchester, please not the time change, the game was originally scheduled for 6pm.  The Virginia baseball team will be at Florida State this weekend however the 3 game series will not start until tomorrow with 2 of the 3 games being shown on ESPNU.  The Nascar Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series will be at Bristol this weekend where I am sure there will be some tempers flaring up a bit.  Well I sure glad that is Friday my favorite day of the week.  MICKEY

VCU LOOKS FOR ANOTHER NCAA RUN

The VCU Rams will play it's 1st game in this years NCAA Tournament tonight against Wichita State in Portland Oregon.  The Rams will be looking for another good showing building on last years improbable run.  Wichita State thinks they can be this VCU but I think the Rams will have allot to say about that, game time is set for 7:15pm.  The Virginia baseball team beat Marist yesterday 10-2, the Cavs will now be heading down to Florida Sate for a weekend series.  The Colonial Heights Colonials will return home tomorrow against Manchester, the game is schedule for 6pm but there is a chance that the game could get move up to beat tomorrow nights rain, stay tuned for further updates.  Th pollen outside is really bothering me quite a bit, it looks like it is going to be a long have fever season.  MICKEY

COLONIALS WIN

The Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team opened up the 2012 baseball season with a 16-0 win over Fredricksburg Christian.  The Colonials pitching staff only allowed 1 hit and the offense racked up 9 hits in the win.  The Colonials will return to action Friday night at home 6pm against Manchester.  It may have been a good thing we moved the game from today to yesterday because with all the rain we had overnight I doubt the stadium field would have been playable today.  The Virginia baseball team will return to action tonight & tomorrow night against Marist.  I have not slept very well the last three night my allergies have really been flaring up quite a bit.  MICKEY

Well tonight the Colonial Heights Colonials baseball team will play its 1st game of the 2012 season at home at 6:30pm against Fredricksburg Christian.  The Colonials JV team will also play Fredricksburg Christian at 4pm today at home as well, the weather looks like it is going to be pretty warm so come on up to the stadium.  Fellow bloggers Keith's team Thomas Dale will open up its season on the road at Glen Allen tonight.  The Virginia baseball team beat Virginia Tech yesterday 6-5 and with the win take 2 out of 3 from the Hokies, the Cavs will play Marist on Tuesday & Wednesday before heading to Florida State next weekend.  Well there will be 3 teams from Virginia in this years NCAA basketball tournament after all.  Virginia received at large bid joining Norfolk State and VCU in the big dance.  Virginia will face Florida, VCU will play Wichita State and Norfolk State will meet Missouri.  Tony Stewart won yesterdays race at the Las Vegas with Jimmie Johnson coming home 2nd, Greg Biffle leads the points standings with Kevin Harvick is 10 points behind.  Looking at the 10 day forecast for Colonial Heights it looks like it is going be in the 70's and 80's over that period.  MICKEY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, VCU & VIRGINIA AWAIT THERE FATE

Well today is Mom's birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, I HOP YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY.  The VCU Rams & Virginia Cavaliers await there fate from the NCAA Basketball Tournament Committee.  The Rams are in the field and are just waiting to see who and where they are going to play the Virginia Cavaliers are just hoping to get into this years tournament.  There will be two teams from Virginia in this years field since Norfolk State won the MEAC Tournament and will be going for the 1st time in school history, the big question now is if Virginia will get in.  The Virginia baseball team evened up it's weekend series with Virginia Tech yesterday with a 4-3 win, they will play the final game of the series this afternoon.  In our final scrimmage yesterday at Henrico we had played pretty well for the most part, the offense is still a little bit behind but the defense looked pretty good yesterday as well as the pitching.  We will open up the regular season at home tomorrow at 6:30pm against Fredricksburg Christian.  Ricky Stenhouse won yesterdays Nationwide race at Las Vegas with the Mark Martin finishing 2nd, the Sprint Cup Series will take to the track this afternoon.  Well I sure hope everybody set there clocks forward 1 hour last night if not you are going to be 1 hour behind all day.  MICKEY

A TOUGH DAY FOR A COUPLE OF VIRGINIA CAVALIERS TEAMS

Well it was a tough day for both the Virginia basketball & baseball teams yesterday.  First the Virginia basketball team lost to N.C. State in the ACC basketball tournament 67-64 and now must wait until tomorrow night to see if they will be included in this years NCAA Tournament or the NIT.  I think that it could go either way, a win yesterday I think would have got them in but N.C. State may have taken there spot away yesterday.  The Virginia baseball team got off to a tough start in ACC play last night as well blowing a 3 run lead in the top of the 9 inning and then losing to Virginia Tech 10-8 in 11 innings.  The Cavs will try to get back on track this afternoon against Virginia Tech.  The Colonial Heights baseball team will have its final tuneup of the season today at Henrico at 2pm, the Colonials will open up the regular season Monday night at 6:30pm against Fredricksburg Christian.  In high school basketball action last night Petersburg lost to Hampton in the state championship game 61-51.  Kasey Kahne captured the pole for this weekends Nascar race in Las Vegas edging Kyle Busch for the top spot, the Nationwide Series will race Vegas today.  Don't forget to set you clocks forward 1 hour before you go to bed tonight or you will be an hour behind all day tomorrow.  MICKEY

Well today is fellow blogger and good friend Scott Woodfin's 45th birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT.  The Virginia basketball team will face N.C. State this afternoon in ACC basketball tournament at 2pm, N.C. Sate beat Boston College to advance to the next round.  Virginia Tech also won last beating Clemson and for there efforts will play Duke tonight.  In college baseball action this weekend the Virginia Cavaliers will open up ACC play at home against Virginia Tech in a 3 game series.  The Colonial Heights baseball team will will have its final scrimmage of the year tomorrow afternoon at 2pm against Henrico getting ready for Monday's season opener against Fredricksburg Christian on Monday night at 6:30 pm.  In high school basketball action tonight Petersburg will play Hampton for the state championship.  The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be in action at Las Vegas this weekend.  It is raining this morning here in the Heights but most of the rain should be out of here in the next few hours but the temp will fall as well highs today and tomorrow in the 50's before it warms up again next week.  It has been a very long week and sure am glad that it is Friday.  MICKEY

ACC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT STARTS TODAY

The ACC Basketball Tournament starts today with 4 games with Virginia Cavaliers having a bye today, the Cavs will play the winner of the Boston College vs N.C. State game.  Duke, North Carolina and Florida state also received byes today as well.  The Petersburg basketball team advance to the state championship last night where they will face Hampton on Friday night.  Well we had our first baseball scrimmage of the year last night and I have to say did some things well but we did some other things not so well.  The biggest problem last night was we just had to many walks, 3 of the 4 runs Park View scored got on base via the walk and the other was an error.  We will have our final Saturday morning at Henrico, also we have moved our season opening game against Fredricksburg Christian from Tuesday to Monday due to the threat of rain on Tuesday.  MICKEY

VCU HEADING BACK TO THE NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The VCU Rams will be heading back to the NCAA Basketball Tournament this year after beating Drexel last night in the CAA Championship game at the Richmond Coliseum 59-56.  The Rams lead by 16 at the half but Drexel fought back hard in the 2nd half and nearly made a comeback but came up just a little short.  The Rams need to make more free throws at the end of the game because that is what helped Drexel get back in the game, the Dragons will now have to wait till Sunday to see if the get into this years NCAA Tournament.  Our baseball scrimmage with Park View South Hill originally scheduled for 5pm tonight has been moved until tomorrow to give the filed another day to dry and the temps will be a bit warmer tomorrow as well.  The Virginia baseball team will travel over to James Madison today to face the Dukes, JMU and UVA played to a tie earlier this year.  Also I am still trying to figure out why school was closed yesterday.  MICKEY

VCU 1 WIN AWAY FROM HEADING BACK TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

The VCU Rams are 1 game away from heading back to the NCAA Basketball Tournament after beating George Mason last night 74-64.  The Rams lead the entire game and lead 22-0 before the Patriots even scored a point and lead by as many as 28.  The Rams face Drexel tonight in the finals of the CAA Tournament, only the winner is guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament but I think the loser will have a good shot at an at large bid but you can take the committee out of the equation with a win.  The Virginia Cavaliers basketball team beat Maryland in OT yesterday 75-72 and by doing claimed the #4 seed in the ACC Tournament and a bye on Thursday, the Cavs will play the winner of the Boston College vs N.C. State game.  The Virginia baseball team had another tough afternoon falling to Seton Hall 5-2.  Denny Hamlin won yesterdays Sprint Cup race at Phoenix after Kevin Harvick ran out of gas with 2 laps to go, Harvick still was able to salvage a 2nd place finish.  Well it looks like we may get a little light snow here in area this morning, the area could receive anywhere from 1-3 inches which is not good for baseball.  MICKEY

The VCU Rams move into the semi-finals last night with 75-65 win over Northeastern, the Rams blew open at tie game at the half in the 2nd half leading by as many as 20 points.  The Rams will will play George Mason tonight in the semi-finals, in the other semi-final game it will be Drexel vs Old Dominion.  The Virginia baketball team has pretty much a must win game today on the road at Maryland, if the Cavs lose this game I think they are going to have a very tough time making the NCAA Tournament.  In college baseball action yesterday the Virginia Cavaliers split a pair of games, the Cavs beat Seton Hall 10-4 but lost to Wright State 5-4 in the late game.  The Virginia baseball team will just play Seton Hall today and will open up ACC play at home next weekend against Virginia Tech.  Elliot Sadler won yesterday Nationwide race and it was his first win in the series since 1998, Mark Martin captured the pole for today's Sprint Cup race edging Tony Stewart for the top spot.  The pollen has already began to fall here in the Heights after yesterdays rain had stopped you could see it in the gutters in the street, I guess with all the warm weather we have been having things are starting pollinate a littler earlier this year.  Also the last couple of days I have woke up with a bit of a crick in my neck, it had worked itself out during the day but its pretty sore in the morning.  MICKEY

VCU PUSH FOR THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

The VCU Rams push for this years NCAA basketball tournament begins tonight against the Northeastern Huskies in CAA the basketball tournament at the Richmond Coliseum.  The Rams been building there case all year to get this years tournament but a good showing in the CAA tournament my push them over the edge.  Northeastern won there game against William & Mary last night 57-49 to move on to the 2nd round.  In high school basketball action last night Petersburg beat Edison last night 68-61 to move onto the semi-finals next week, Henrico the other team from the Central Region also won last night 56-52 over Westfield.  Virginia's baseball game last night was rained out they will try to play 2 games today, in the first game today they will play Seton Hall and in game 2 they will face Wright State.  They will qualify today for tomorrows Sprint Cup race at Phoenix, the Nationwide Series will qualify and race today at Phoenix.  Well because of yesterdays afternoon rain we had to practice inside again, in 2 weeks of practice we have been on the field a total of 2 days which isn't good.  Speaking of the weather there is an 80% chance of rain today as well which makes Monday's practice very doubtful.  MICKEY

VIRGINIA FALLS AFTER BEING UP 11 IN THE FINAL 5 MINUTES

The Virginia basketball team suffered a bad setback last night which could cost them a bid in this years NCAA basketball tournament.  The Cavs were up by 11 points with 4:30 left in the game only to have Florida Sate hit a 3 pointer with less than 1 second left in the game and come away with 63-60 win over Cavs.  The Cavs have 1 game left in the regular season at Maryland on Saturday.  The CAA basketball tournament starts today at Richmond Coliseum, the VCU Rams have a bye in the 1st round and will face the winner of the William & Mary vs Northeastern game.  The Virginia baseball team will be at home again this weekend and will play 2 games against Wright State and Seton Hall.  The Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will be in Phoenix this weekend.  Well we were able to get on the outfield at the stadium yesterday afternoon and hopefully we will be able to get on the entire field today before the rains come, we have or first scrimmage on Tuesday at home against Park View South Hill.  MICKEY

FLORIDA STATE AT VIRGINIA

The Virginia basketball team returns to action at home tonight against the Florida State Seminoles and I am predicting that the Cavs will upset the Seminoles tonight at the JPJ Arena.  Well with all the rain we had yesterday we had to move baseball practice indoors yesterday and I have a feeling we might be in there the rest of week, the only thing that might save is that it is suppose to be very windy today so we might be able to get outside again tomorrow.  I am very sore from hitting fungos and throwing batting practice, I think just about about muscle that could hurt it hurting.  Well today is the 1st day of March, where did the 1st two months of the year go.  MICKEY
